Virtually none of the European countries practice circumcision. Less than 1% of European men are circumcised.

About 1873, Dr. A.J.Sayer of Philadelphia decided that the foreskin caused boys to engage in self-pleasuring themselves and in that time, it was considered a mortal sin. Sayre went on a national tour and eventually a European tour promoting circumcision. Within 10 years, other doctors had discovered the profit potential and added their own 2 cents claiming that not circumcising a child would result in a wide range of maladies besetting the child including blindness, insanity, joint disease, bedwetting and on and on. By the 1940's, doctors were circumcising boys even against the wishes of the parents. A lawsuit by a Jewish family in 1973 ended that. A doctor circumcised their son denying them their ritual circumcision ceremony and now all hospitals must obtain consent. Very few parents know why they are circumcising their sons, they just think everyone else does it so they should too. In fact, the circumcision rate is in rapid decline. It peaked in the 1980's and has been in decline since. Most of the decline has come in the last decade. At it's peak, the rate was 80% - 85% with caucasians in the 92% range. Currently, the circumcision rate is about 56% and in decline. On the west coast it is 30% or less. Canada has fallen to about 6% after the death of Ryliegh McWillis in 2002 and few physicians will perform the procedure any longer. There is no medical fraternity/association in the world that recommends circumcision. Currently, there are 3 countries that absolutely ban the procedure and it appears that Australia will ban it this year.
I dunno, really, possibly all those housewives reading in McCall's Magazine figured it was gospel that circumcision was the way to go. I have a vague sense that somewhere it became chic and the norm to cut that little innocent piece of skin.
Well now that you mention the gospel, there is the Covenant of Circumcision in Genesis but that was relegated to Jews alone with the coming of Christ and now circumcision is antithetical to Christianity. It is the most unChristian thing you can do. Read about The Feast of Tabernacles in Luke, about the Counsel of Jerusalem and about Paul's minsitering to the Galatians.

You might be surprised to learn that female circumcision was practiced in The US at one time. It finally ended in the early 1980's but up until that time, some insurance companies even covered it as a benefit.
but, what did i know back then of a son being cut??? we usually view a young girls 'cut' as barbaric, since it's not of our culture, but we accept the cutting of our sons here and now, without question, that for purely hygienic reasons??
The hygiene thing is purely a myth. The preputial space (the area inside the foreskin) has it's own immune system and that immune system can actually be harmed by overly aggessive hygiene. This is a false belief just like the douching of women for hygiene is a myth. (and thankfully one that is gone) Just like douching caused an interuption of the normal flora of the vagina and vulva resulting in bacteria and fungals multiplying rapidly, aggressive cleaning of the preputial space can have the same results. This is not a good thing obviously! | |

Yep, that's not surprising. O'Hara & O'Hara found that women who had experienced both significantly prefered the uncut penis. Natural is best. As a highly evolved species, humans are designed to perform to our best abilities. Americans tend to think the foreskin is a superflous feature on the male organ but it has very important functions in sex.
Circumcision was originally designed to disable the organ to a degree and it does that. Through the capabilities of modern medicine, we are only now begining to realize the full extent.

To those talking about not being able to tell the difference when a penis is hard, well, it depends on the guy. I have NOT given head to many guys but I have seen many many many many many guys with hard penises both cut and uncut. Some uncuts the skin does not go back when the penis is hard although in most it does.
Tricks? The only uncut trick I know is asking the guy what he likes. I do know some special tricks but they are not just for cut or uncut guys, they apply to all guys. Now, someone point me to the thread with head tricks so I do not have to thread jack this one.
side note: I lived in Philadelphia before I moved to New York City. Philadelphia seems to have a disproportionate amount of uncut men. Maybe more uncut men just have a fetish for getting their a$$es kicked by Domme's. Who knows? | |

Well, speaking from my personal point of view, and ONLY referencing my own male member, here's the perks (gotta love puns!)
-when fully erect, the head swells wider than the shaft, providing more girth.
-the idea of ribbed condoms came from the area where the head meets the shaft.
-the entire head area is VERY sensitive and various spots feel differently.
I'm assuming that the "extra skin" part is referring to the sheath area past the head, aka; the foreskin?!?!?
