| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/7/2008 10:07:39 PM | But you have to admit...that was one hell of a comeback. 21 unanswered points Was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole 4th quarter
Think I might get tickets for the October game here in Calgary...I'm just glad the Roughriders helped me become a full-fledged CFL fan again...of course, with the help of some of the Stampeders...
But you have to admit Sask is doing damn good for as many injuries as they have. A lot of Sask buddies I talked to tonight were surprised Sask made it THIS far unbeaten
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/8/2008 6:42:16 AM | It was a bit of a nail biter.
Think how exciting it could have been if both teams were 'on' at the same time! I love how the fans in Regina are there until the end - unlike so many red-seat holders in Calgary (and for the record, I think I've left once before the final gun)
It is truly amazing that with an injured list of 18 players the Riders went 6-0, truly an accomplishment, and shows how much of a "team" they are.
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/8/2008 7:48:54 AM | I agree wholeheartedly, about how we the riders, made it this far. Could be the loss of the last of our 3 main recievers was the turning point for the unbeaten season. HOWEVER, now that we have our ONE loss out of the way - unbeaten from here to the Greycup final!!!!!!!!!
and as for the comeback points - 2 words: Chris Szarka! - gotta love Saskatchewan boys' heart.
Papabear, missed your comment earlier, I agree, LONG LIVE VICO - and ..........BUNNYHUGS!!!!!
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/8/2008 2:45:21 PM | Castaline, let me know if your around to watch the ALBERTA teams plays in September at Shank's....I think it would be fun!! | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/15/2008 10:35:28 PM | | Can't wait for the Lions game...Stamps are goin down. All Hail Buck Pierce! | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/15/2008 10:40:04 PM | Hey, I will watch a Lion's game at Shank's too. BC is my second home. | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/21/2008 1:26:04 AM | 2 Great football games on this weekend.
Friday, Esk vs Riders. I'll be at Mikey's listening to Heather Blush and the Uppercuts CD release party and watching the game, probably even pick up a pool cue.
Saturday, Stamps vs those pesky Lions. I'm thinking Len's Den at the Ambassador. They put TSN on, a blues band playing, and the best steak I've had in a long time.
I invite all you CFL fans (and/or music fans) to join me.
|
| |
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/21/2008 7:39:28 AM | And the Stamps/Lions game is tomorrow night (Friday).
Go Stamps Go!!! | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/21/2008 7:42:15 AM | And here I thought I had my weekend figured out.
Okay then. Lens Den tonight - no blues though Mikeys tomorrow!
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/23/2008 2:06:44 AM | That game was a dandy. Quite possibly the best one I've seen this season.
So now Stamps and Esks are tied for second. And those pesky Lions are currently in the basement. Look out Riders, the ride is gonna get bumpy!!
Bring on week 10! | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 8/23/2008 6:03:37 AM | The first possession was GREAT, 2 plays and whamo - Touchdown!! B.C. with their first possession also scored, but Calgary held on and out scored them in each quarter, except the last one but only 1 point more was allowed.
We should have been there, lots of empty seats, but I don't think it will be like that next time the Stamps play there (if that should happen)!!
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/1/2008 5:30:52 PM | I am really unsure what happened to the team that played last week in BC, but they sure as heck didn't appear today.
That was a terrible showing by my beloved Stamps. In fact after the second fumble on kick returns I swore (and I don't get angry at games very often). One thing I don't understand is why Hufnagel didn't challenge a couple of calls. Especially the play where they called a catch, and the receiver was on the line - that makes him out. Oh well, there are more games in the season, starting on Friday! Hopefully Huffers can motivate them to play like they did last week!
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/1/2008 7:11:22 PM | | Should make the road trip up and watch the game from the stands :p | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/1/2008 7:14:05 PM | The Stamps got OWNED by Ricky Ray and, oddly enough, a guy named Stamps......that's all there is to it. | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/1/2008 7:24:21 PM |
Should make the road trip up and watch the game from the stands :p
I am tossing the idea around. Working in Red Deer (Sylvan Lake) again this week, so am halfway to Edmonton anyway! Might throw a Stamps T-shirt in my suitcase, and talk to my Esks fan friends, see if they can get me a ticket.
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/2/2008 5:08:12 AM | the play where they called a catch, and the receiver was on the line - that makes him out. Actually he landed out of bounds rather obviously, but I guess if the ball was caught where the player WOULD have landed in bounds and was forced out mid-air, it's treated as if he had possession before being forced out. A few other iffy calls too, for BOTH sides, but a great game regardless. And you're right Jay, Ricky was a machine in that one. Go Esks ! | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/5/2008 9:44:11 PM | Dismal, really dismal first two plays, then the unmentionable happen, tie game. Ended with some drama, but the result was favorable for Calgary fans!!
YaY Stamps, tied for second place, again!
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/5/2008 9:51:18 PM | Much more enjoyable game (for me!) Although that first play sure wasn't a promising start.
Same team that beat the pesky Lions last week showed up in Commenwealth tonight.
I think that Labinjo is one of my favourite players, 3 sacks. Su - weet! It is usually pretty hard to sack Ricky Ray, but the Edmonton food bank sure gained some tonight, thanks to Ray hitting the turf 4 times tonight.
Looking forward to the rest of the games this weekend. Of course one of the games starts at 11 on Sunday. Another decision to make this weekend... biker bowl or football?
Next Friday the number one team in the east comes to McMahon :)
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/6/2008 8:40:14 AM |
but the Edmonton food bank sure gained some tonight
I thought that was awesome!
S-L-O-W-L-Y learning the game here... lol
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/6/2008 10:42:52 AM |
S-L-O-W-L-Y learning the game here... lol ME TOO!
I was at the game, and went to the bathroom, came back and we were tied!! Seems I should have left my seat more often so the Esks could WIN! lol
Bottle of wine comin' your way Castaline!!
P.s.... The Eskimos Cheering Team is undoubtabley AMAZING!!!!
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/6/2008 11:05:52 AM | Are you coming to the wrecker so you can personally deliver that wine?
I've said it before, and will say it again: The Eskimo cheer squad is the best in the CFL. More than just pole dancers - which is what most of the other teams field!
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/6/2008 11:35:15 AM | Hummm.... Seems I have no children that weekend... That might just be DOABLE!
It's high time I witnessed papabears wrecker in PERSON!!
As for the wine Castaline... It will be in a green and gold bottle BABY!! (we can hurl it into the air like the Esk cheerleaders!! .... when the bottle is EMPTY, of course) lol
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/10/2008 1:46:57 PM | | Umm...when's the next homegame? I want to go! I have decided that I can most definitely become a Stamps fan! I own enough Red :) | |
|
| Calgary Stampeders 2008 Posted: 9/10/2008 1:51:45 PM | And red is such a lovely colour!
Next home game is this Friday, the 12 @ 8 pm against the number one team in the east, the Montreal Alouettes.
Should be a good game. | |
