It doesn't faze me at all. It actually give me more time to myself for the things I have delayed. It was just a date, and I don't date to invest in marriage which will never happen again in my life, God willing.

A cancellation I can understand, as long as I'm not waiting for an hour like some dolt. Being stood up is more of a p1sser. But since I'm the kind of guy that will eat alone, watch a movie alone and am always willing to masturbate alone, it's not too heartbreaking.

That doesn't mean that I don't grab a cold one and hope explosive diarrhea on her continued existence, though.

Very recently my 30 yr old male cousin got stood up. He was supposed to meet some woman at some bar / club for a second or third date. He decided to stay at the bar / club and make the most of it. He ended up hooking up with some 40 yr old cougar that night. The cougar was a few pounds overweight, but she was moderately attractive. Sometimes being stood up can actually work in your favor.

Wow! I didn't know you have bars up there that let cougars in. How about pumas? Or Cheetas? Did he see any of those? :-) Mighty brave of him though to hook up with the cougar.

I realized I never actually answered your question OP. The answer is way easier that I would have hoped it would be.

Being that I have been stood up more often that I care to think about, I have gotten so used to it that I actually expect it. Pretty bad huh?
I am one of those who have come to the realization that many people who have a profile on a site such as this one have created it because they want attention for one reason or another. Once they have gotten it, they have achieved their goal.

That is my take on on-line dating and I stand for it.

:-)

My point was simply that people should make the most of the situation when they are stood up. Some women are attracted to younger men just like some women are attracted to certain body types, height ranges, races, hair colors etc. If 2 people are looking for the same thing (whether it's sex or a LTR ), then it shouldn't be a problem. BTW some women embrace the term "cougar".

I don't think it matters who you are, if you really like that someone and they stand you up its going to hurt. My worst one ever was a date I was supposed to go on on Valentine's Day.

I had the dozen roses and dinner plans and she stood me up! Ended up going to a bar that coincidentally had a Single Ladies Karaoke Night. I gave the first dozen women there a flower and had a few drinks there with some friends I ran in to.

I couldn't help to make a joke. I know what you're saying.
Yes some women do enjoy to use names to identify themselves. Personally I dislike it when people place a label on themselves or others. I have sometimes been refered to as a MILF and it P's me off pretty badly. I find it very disrespectful.
If she talked about herself as a cougar there is no harm in others doing the same thing but if was a label your cousin used to describe her based on her interest in him I think it's disrespectful. A woman can be attracted to younger men but also to older men. That doesn't make a woman a cougar.

I did get your point and I agree with it. One should always choose a place one would be comfortable going to alone, just in case the date stands you up.

Fortunately it hasn't happened often, but truth be told? one time is too many. If a guy goes through the trouble to ask a woman out, sets aside an evening, and plans to meet someone for whatever, it is just plain rude for the woman to not show up. I have experienced this twice that I can recall, and both times I was kinda P.O.ed. But you pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and move on. I'll say this though, as I've gotten older, I'm not very enthusiastic about dating anymore. Too many fakes and pretenders out there . . . It's a lot more complicated when you're near 50 than it was when you were 20 . . .

I have only been stood up once in my life and it was a really sh*tty feeling, sitting there alone waiting and waiting and feeling the eyes of all these people on you, just knowing that even they know you've been stood up. As such, I have never stood up anybody because I just would not want to hurt anyone like that.

Mind you, the above scenario happened before the prevalence of cell phones. So now, whenever I'm gonna meet someone for the first time I give them my number and tell them to please text me or call if they aren't coming and since then I've never had an issue.

Okay break out the notepads because this is where I endow my wisdom upon you guys, since you can still be stood up in this day of instant communication.

1. Never ever take a seat at a restaurant before your date arrives if you don't like taking a chance at eating alone. Just tell the hostess that you'll wait at the bar instead. So it goes without saying to meet at a place with a bar.

2. Place doesn't have a bar? Wait outside where there is hopefully shade and a bench. Play with your phone if you have to, but I like to check out the women entering and leaving. Wear sunglasses as it hides the eye movement.

3. The observation of women lends itself to Plan B, if you're stood up. See a chick you liked? Then go ahead and jump on that horse. You're already batting zero, so take a gamble. Life is 50/50, so what do have to lose anyway?

4. She wants to meet at a park? Make it a dog park, even if you have no dogs. But carry some beef jerky. Why? If you get stood up, then entice some cute chick's dog with the treats and it's back to the 'ol 50/50.

Stood up and feeling like sh1t? Break open the piggy bank, because today it's all about you, fella.

1. Go and buy a suit or just a suit jacket if the budget is a little tight. Seek out an old salesman and a place that has a tailor. That kind of attention makes you feel like a real man like your father.

2. Get a shoeshine. Nothing like great conversation from a shine man, because they have all the answers.

3. Though they are getting harder to find, get a trim & shave from a old barber. Like the shine man, they put everything into perspective.

4. Call up your father/grandfather and take him out to eat. Just a burger and beer with your old man is just the ticket to lift your spirits. The best meals I ever had were with my father.

5. Call your old man up and go window shopping for a Porsche.

6. Got real guts? Trade in your car for something fast and loud.

7. Go to the batting cage and swing like Smoking Joe.

8. Call your brother up and raise hell together.

9. Hit on every ch1ck you see. If you get a date great, but this is just for kicks mostly. Remember: no fear! Brothers can tag along for laughs.

10. Blow sh1t up and/or go shoot a gun.

11. Masturbate with a vengeance.

12. (for men only)

Things to remember if you are stood up:

1. Never call her again. No emails, no texts, no IMs, nothing, nada! To hell with her.

2. There's six billion people in the world. Half of them are female. Like George Carlin said, even if she's 1 in an million, there's another 3 million like her.

3. Your ancestors used to kill animals with clubs, arrows and rocks. They passed that sh1t into your blood. You're a man, so you can handle this crap.

4. No matter how beautiful she might be, somewhere some dude is sick of her sh1t, too.

5. Whiskey was made for a reason. This is one of 'em. So bottoms up!

Double 'bottoms up' if you guessed the 12th rule above.....

p.s. I'm posting this for myself more than anyone else. Sometimes I get weak and forget this sh1t. Wish my old man was here, but I guess he got fed up, too.

OP,

In my opinion being stood up and canceling a date are two different situations.
I would consider a no-show for a date being stood up. I have had dates canceled on me last minute but always rescheduled for another time. I can't speak for all guys but if I were stood up I would be angry, but it would not be the end of the world.

I understand what you are saying. My cousin didn't call a cougar simply because she happened to be older than he is. She admitted that she usually dates younger men and she had no problems with being called a cougar.

Exactly. Either that or have backup plans.

It's simple........

Don't date, I know this is a dating site but too many people are screwed over. Unfortunately, I had to learn after two skanks.

Just agree to hang out at a family event that way nothing is lost if he/she cancels or no shows. If you happen to be going to an adult place with your friends or agree to meet them at a restaurant with a bar, cool, just wear casual clothes with good cologne or perfume on in case you meet someone there.

It totally depends on the situation, what the reason was if one was provided and how much I like the girl. But if I detect that I was stood up for not such a good reason, then I won't be calling her again. That isn't to say that she could call me and show some interest and motivation, in which case I could be turned back on again...but I can take a hint.

Don't date,

I was at that point a couple years ago. I had f*ck buddies and friends. But never dated. There were too many hoops to hop through.

...I am about ready to get to that point again.

Screwed over and/or screwed up.

OMG!! Some of the things these men write to us. I get more respect from men in a leather bar. I have a guy friend who says women send him pictures of them in their wedding dress!!! What the hell is wrong with people??

I'm like Teflon; I just let it slide off. Then again, it has only happened once to me. As I recall I left after 20 minutes. About ten minutes into the wait I called some friends and started making other plans in the event she didn't show up by my cut off time. Always have a back up plan if you don't mind falling back to a movie rental.

Sometimes I still struggle with English, so help me to learn where this term "cougar" comes from. I think the young lady in my foto would like to know this, too, since she think she's queen of the jungle.

Hahahahahahaha

The term "Cougar" is given to an older woman who dates younger men. USUALLY women in their 40's/50's dating men in their 20's. Demi Moore would be a good example of a "Cougar".

My boss at work teasingly called me a "Cougar" when I flirted with the college boys who would come to the counter. I thought it was silly being called a cougar at my age, but also was amused by the teasing.... so I kept it.

It is disrespectful to not call in advance to cancel plans. But, life sometimes gets in the way and things come up. Canceling at the last minute is not the end of the world. If it becomes a regular event then he is taking you for granted and you should end it.

i would think a last-minute cancellation is preferable to a no-show. neither would be polite, but a no-show would be blatantly rude and reflect poorly on the the person who did it - extremely ill-bred.

Adam Taylor. I loved your comments on stood up. In 2007 I was interseted in some girl that stood me up one night. I had waisted time and money renting a car, waiting for her shallow, closed-minded ass. I could have stayed the hell home and watched a DVD or something.

She didn't even have enough common courtesy to call me and tell me what was happening. Instead, as I tried to call her, she was dodging my phone calls.

But I also realize that women are a chock full of disappointments. So it's kind of like natural for me to expect these type of things from them.

That girl I dated last year wasn't worth $#!+. She wasn't worth the time of day, and I regret the day that I met her. Nothing but a worthless, narrow-minded, full-of-crap b!+c#.

I was wondering how men reacte when they realize they've been stood up or if/when the woman cancels on you last minute as you are walking out the door?

Well, on a first date, if she's not there at the time we were supposed to meet, or perhaps fifteen minutes later, I leave and continue to enjoy my day. If I'm "in a dating mood" , then I'll start looking around to see who else may be of interest. In today's world of cell phones, there's no excuse to call - unless in a coma/dead in a hospital.

As I'm walking out the door ? Well, some type of emergency might indeed cause that. It won't cause it the second time, however. That's my limit on those.

Oh man! That does suck. I've never been stood -up, but I've had it where a girl just can't commit to plans. It means they're just not that into you. Ands that's o.k. It does take a sh1t kickin on the ol ego though. Look forward and keep trying!
