I don't have any tatts or grandchildren.... does that mean I don't qualify to answer this??? lol...

I think if you want one go for it... I have considered it in the past but never did it.. plus it wasn't so in vogue or accepted as it is today.. when I was in my 20's girls didn't get them only hoodlum guys.. lol... now my daughter has them, but not my son... go figure.. but she keeps them discreet... I say if you plan on going into a professional career and you want to wear short sleeves don't put them in the "visual"... I couldn't at my job.. I have enough issues with cleavage.. sigh.. another topic huh....

the one who mentioned the rose on her shoulder with her grandchildrens names on the leaves I think wow... great idea.. btw... I know a woman at work who is a cancer survivor who loves fairies.. she got one on her back when she went into remission... more power to her...

who cares what sags.. its going to anyway... with or without the tat...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^**********

My son designed what is (hopefully) going to be my first tat. He's an excellent graphic artist.. who's been designing signs and company logo's.. as well as tattoos for a few years now. He's just 21.

I just haven't gotten around to get it done yet. One of those.. I just don't want to go alone thingys.. I guess.

I have my nose.. eyebrow.. and belly pierced. I thought for about two seconds on getting my nipples done.. but.. my nephew's g/f had hers done.. and she lost all feeling in them. So.. I'm good with what I have pierced. I think the nose hurt more than any of them. Those first few change outs were excrutiatingly painful. Cartilidge! I decided after getting that done.. I wasn't about to further the ear piercings either. Three of those in each ear lobe.. is just fine with me. No more cartilidge piercings.

Everybody I ever heard speak after getting their tongue piecred also has a bit of an impediment as well. I know my daughter has a labret.. and she plays with it with her tongue constantly. Every so often.. I just scream her name.. and she goes.. oh.. yeah.. I guess I was playing with it again? It's hilarious!

I say.. get what you want.. and makes you feel good about you.

It appears by reading on this form that there are as many for as there are againist tattoos. Being a Pro. Tattooist for over 40 years I can safely say that there are many, many more Ladies getting Tattoos today than in the past. Being a gentelman I never ask them what, or why they have waited so long to be Tattooed. This art form goes as far back as the cavemen, so to call it "Trashy" or by any other name is only throwing rocks at those you do not understand. This is only my opinion, but Gentelmen I have met and Tattoo some Beautiful Grandma's. I am sure they were just as much a Lady as thoses without Tattoos, so as they say, Don't judge the book by the cover......

So what if I want to wear my art on my body. I have quite a few tatts and my grandkids all think they are pretty cool. Some people hang their art on walls. I hang mine on my body. You don't have to look. But don't judge me on what I like.

My daughter and I got our first tattoo's together. So having them already when the grandkids started coming , they think it's a normal thing. When I get a new one they all have to check it out. It's either you like them or you don't. It doesn't make you a good or bad person ..just your own preference

I was 50 when I got my first tattoo, I have 3 now and will probably get more. I also got 5 piercings since turning 50. My ex hated the idea of tattoos or piercings, but I always wanted to do it.I've also always wanted a harley and he hated that idea too, so I have decided I am getting a bike next summer.[Best thing I did leaving him...he stifled me]Only problem now, is that I find they are addicting!! lol

My 3 daughters think it would be cool for Mom and them to have matching tattoos. They all have one or two now. Thank goodness we haven't all been in the city at the same time or they may have talked me into it. I can just see them taking me out to lunch and buying me a beer and then go for a walk...... to the tattoo parlour!!

I have nothing against nose rings on people who like them...but to compare a tat to body jewelry is kinda...weird! With a tat...there is nothing protruding from the body...just injected ink, darlin'! LOL

Well, I'm not a grandma for a few years yet...but I did get my first tattoo when I was 35. I now have 5 and want one more. I'm actually just learning to tattoo.
I also have my nose, belly button and ear cartiledge pierced....all in the past five years.

Personally I think those who wait usually have put a lot more thought into it and get tattoos with a lot more meaning.
And let's face it, we're a lot less likely to regret it 'when we get old' !!

I have no logical explanation for this. Here is my theory. When I first started dating, no woman I was interested in would have one. Then they became very popular, and people you never expected started getting them. I have no problem with men and tattoos (I don't want to date them) but I guess I see it as a manly thing. Even have seen women in a corporate environment, with a small tattoo (maybe on the ankel)and it seems inappropriate. I understand I am in the minority here. Guys kid me and say "Hey if they will get a tatto, what other wild things will they do?" I also see women and some guys start to regret getting them years later. I have dated women with tattoos in the past, so I am not that stubborn.

I love mine, but it was designed to be private and personal. Not something I show off in public.

I don't mind tats I've been with women who had them in the seventies and now that they are trendy who cares. I personaly don't want one as I've never followed the crowd . But I have a good bunch of scars that have a good story behind them. I say a tattoo is a poor replacement for a colorful personality.

My tats are not to "follow the crowd" either....if so, the 5 I have would not be original works of art designed for or by ME....they would be flash art that covers zillions of others. :)

Tats aren't for me, but my son got me an eyebrow piecing for Christmas two years ago. I got one of those flesh colored plugs to wear in Court, but, like, who cares? I always forget. Okay, one Judge cares, but I am usually in front of the other one. I forget it's there. I have OLD grandchildren. I think it's a hoot, the incongruous soft grandma face with curls and the eyebrow ring. Keeps em guessing.

I'm just a country girl from Ky,I got my first tattoo at age 44. It is seen only when I want it to be and surprises most people because I am usually a wall flower.lol After my second divorce I had a Heart with a Screw through it placed on my left breast, just a reminder to becareful with the heart.
