| Ever thought your Zodiac sign could be intimidating to others? Posted: 10/30/2008 9:09:33 AM | LOL...I didn't mean to make it sound like Virgos are terrible people. They're actually very interesting in many ways and are generally good people. Just not always a good match for Geminis. :)
Vulcan huh? Well that may explain some things. LOL

| Ever thought your Zodiac sign could be intimidating to others? Posted: 1/10/2009 8:57:59 PM | First of all, those of you who just skim zodiacs in the paper haven't had a true reading (Responding to NortonG15CS). Sometimes it's kind of startling how accurate it is. If you overlook some of the dubious things you are not in the very basic reading, you start figuring out the things (dominating planet, houses rising, ascent, etc.), that actually correlate more of your overall characteristics.
But, then again, what do I know? I know twins born a minute apart, that are as different as day and night in personality, so by that same logic, you should only believe in how much faith you put into it.
Personally, however, I would say put as much faith into the daily horoscopes as you would that "chinese" (not being racist here, sarcastic) fortune cookie. Just think of it as guided advice or a wise saying, nothing more.
As for the actual signs, sometimes it is interesting to see how in-depth they go. Whenever you have some spare time or some spare money, you should go down and take a look at what you are exactly, and disregard the major flaws the initial reading that you can draw from any resource on the net. If you just want to skim on your smoke/coffee/other break, or are just too cheap to buy a book or to see an astrologist, this website has some basic information.

Just keep a level head about it. After all, if those psychics were really interested in your future, they would be contacting us instead of the other way around. Now that I think about it, they wouldn't need your credit card number either...
By the way, capricorn here. My apologies for the relationships that have gone awry with others of my sign.

| Zodiac Signs Posted: 1/11/2009 1:58:39 AM | well this is intriguing. WHich sign matches up with Virgos in that case? I am a virgo myself.
It seems that i've been attracting quite a few virgos lately.

| Zodiac Signs Posted: 1/11/2009 3:25:43 AM | Virgo to Virgo? Seems to me you have a magnetic field between you. So who's positive and who's negative?
Still reckon Sagittarians rule !! Everyone stands in awe of us.

| Zodiac Signs Posted: 1/11/2009 6:33:37 AM | Capricorn is the best sun sign with a virgo sun sign. As a cap, I find it interesting to compare my first date experience (after long very nice email exchange) with different signs that cap should be most compatible with. Of course this is totally subjective but what the 'ell.
First date with pisces - exciting but a little 'too' exciting. Felt like I was tripping over my words a lot and he didn't disclose much about himself, kept asking me questions. Scorpio - very intense. Those scary blue eyes had me so rattled (and I'm very hard to rattle) I don't remember what we talked about for more than 2 hrs. Typical scorpio he kept asking me questions and revealed zero about himself. Capricorn - came prepared with print outs of my profile, my website, and our email exchange that put me off balance from the start. But, that just-below-the-surface capricorn sexuality and sensuality was very attractive and I couldn't resist looking into his eyes and watching his big strong hands. Virgo - comfortable with an undercurrent of nervous. This felt more 'real life' than the others in the sense that when the newness wears off there won't be such a drastic fall-off of intensity and excitement. It felt less like an interview than with capricorn, and more sustainable/less of an adrenaline rush than scorpio or pisces. To-date a taurus has been the 'love of my life' but that first date was more than 30 yrs ago and we met 'in real life', not online, so not including that experience here.

| Ever thought your Zodiac sign could be intimidating to others? Posted: 1/11/2009 6:34:10 AM | OP, This is a good thread that you started. Because so many people have such a fixation about astrology, I put some research into it. I am a Pisces and many people will judge me because of it. I know some people who share my sign but they are the complete opposites of me. Maybe I share some of the traits of a Pisces but I also share the traits of other signs as do most people. What needs to be understood by all is that every person is unique, no matter what their zodiac sign is. Every 12th person has a different zodiac sign. Many people here on POF judge me because I am a Pisces, I looked up some famous and infamous people that share the Pisces sign.
Here is one list of well known people: Einstein, Chopin, Michelangelo, Arthur Schopenhauer, Copernicus, Edgar Cayce, George Harrison, Nat King Cole, Alexander Graham Bell, John Steinbeck and George Washington.
Here is another list of people: Osama bin Laden, John Wayne Gacy, serial killer Richard Ramirez, Dennis Lynn Rader aka BTK, Albert Speer, Sirhan Sirhan, Bugsy Siegel and James Earl Ray.
What do these two lists of people share in common? They are all Pisces.
This is a good topic for discussion and there may be some substance to astrology. In my opinion, astrology is a branch of metaphysics.

Not exactly true because births are not evenly distributed across all days of the year.
You are correct. I used the statement in a broad sense. I wonder if there is any data available that shows the least number and most number of people born under a certain sign? I might look for this data in the future.

| Ever thought your Zodiac sign could be intimidating to others? Posted: 1/11/2009 11:56:14 AM | I take the whole Zodiac signs with a grain of salt! But, that's because I'm a Gemini....
One minute I'm "normal", then the next minute my "evil twin" appears! Of course, I don't really notice "the change" because of the fact that my mind is split into two seperate personalities that have never formally been introducted to each other! I don't want them to meet each other either! I'm not sure if they would really get along or not :)
I'm never truly alone either.....scary.....
No wonder I'm still single.....neither one can figure out which one really wants a date more than the other & they are in constant conflict over the kind of man they're looking for :)

| Zodiac Signs Posted: 1/13/2009 6:41:50 AM | I always thought "what's your sign" was a cheap pick up line for those who "trolled" the bar scene.
My thoughts on many subjects are "inunclusive" meaning I do not believe nor so I disbelieve but am "open" or the jury is still out, however, I do think that common sense dictates that if you have a few bad experienceses with a few past partners if you look hard and close enough you can find many common denominators other than "zodiac signs" and if you read the zodiac propaganda enough they all vary so eventually you will find a reson why a previous ecperience went bad. To me that is an out so to speak. Sometimes the answer lies whithin and rather than look there people tend to take the easy out and blame it on the "Zodiac." This is not an absolute, I don't believe in those either but it is a real posability and for me a person's sign will not make a difference as to whether I would be friends and or date them.
Now a 7th son of a 7th son is a different matter, they are to be avoided at all costs

It's been said before and I hate being redundant but ... there is so much more to a horoscope than sun sign that it is next to meaningless to compare compatibility on sun sign alone, or to give any credence to those 1 sentence blurbs in the paper.
I was a non-believer until I started doing charts about 35 yrs ago. Now I don't do them by hand (or myself) I use various services available on the net, but after doing a complete chart analysis (all planets, aspects, houses, elements, etc) I've found them to be pretty close descriptions of the strengths and weaknesses of the subject.
I do not use astrology for predictive/forecasting purposes (i.e. will it be a good day today? should I buy a lottery ticket?). Astrologists do not claim their craft is "scientific", nor "scientifically accurate". It is a different standard. After thousands of years of refinement, it is "descriptive" much as psychological personality analysis such as Myers-Briggs. Neither M-B, nor astrology control the person or the personality, they describe the person or personality that exists.

| Ever thought your Zodiac sign could be intimidating to others? Posted: 1/14/2009 4:16:45 PM | | Well, I am a Leo--which indicates a strong, "fiery", bold personality. Does it hold true? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I guess if someone was really "in" to astrology, it could be intimidating but... That said, I have had some out-of-this-world connections with Libras (and major heartbreak as well), some major fireworks with Leos (in a good way LOL) and some very, very bad times with Virgos. Was it their astrological sign? Who knows--I know I don't fit totally into the Leo description (and yes, every part of my sign is Leo) so I seriously doubt that others completely fit their "sign" either. Just my opinion. :) | |

| Ever thought your Zodiac sign could be intimidating to others? Posted: 1/14/2009 4:57:54 PM | If someone were really 'into' astrology your sun sign wouldn't intimidate them in the least. They'd know that sun sign isn't all that big of a deal for a love interest (should actually compare venus and mars, eros and psyche between your two charts) and they'd know whether they were generally compatible with Leo or not.
Sun signs only intimidate the lightly initiated; i.e. know just enough to make uneducated assumptions.
Based on only sun sign, Leo and Virgo not such good romantic relationship but could do well in business together - Leo would be the front person, glad handing, sales with the Virgo following behind taking care of the details to actually get the deal done.
(and yes, every part of my sign is Leo) what does that mean? You mean the sun is not on the cusp?

...but what I do know is that one can NEVER tell the qualities of a person just by telling what sign they are. Sacrilege!
I happen to know, FOR A FACT, that Scorpiwickles do NOT get along with Homopreludes!
I know this because I happen to be a blackberrylantern who's cousin's sister's niece is a drosopholoidmelanogasteris and when she swallowed a rhododendrite, all the stalagtites were signalling the immediate annexation of the Sudetenland!
It just makes me very mad, that's all.
Sometimes i wish people would pay more attention to shoe size.

Having experienced a lack of compatibility with a few Virgos in the past, I do tend to see that as a bit of a red flag, but if they convince me they have similar values and character to me then I wouldn't let it stop me getting to know them. Not a personal attack on Virgos, just that we normally have a completely different outlook. That's funny cause I am a virgo. Although, I believe virgo men are different than virgo women. I'v ehad bad luck with Gemini - the Evil twins haha.

| Ever thought your Zodiac sign could be intimidating to others? Posted: 1/23/2009 4:48:29 PM | I'm a monkey and we all know how intimidating those are too many people are trying too hard to Be like their zodiac signs instead of their zodiac signs describing how the person would be if they didn't read about what they're supposed to be like | |
