My question is how much pain pills does 400 million buy? No, but seriosuly I don't understand how people like Rush Limbaugh or even people on the left making that much can speak for the average Americain.
Rush came from very humble beginnings and is a self made man, anyone who listens to Rush understands Rush is one of the largest single donors in terms of the Military Families, recieving Millions from him, he doesn't talk about it, but many of those who know what he does behind the scenes have called in to Thank him for all he does for the Military...He recently put a letter on Ebay sent to him from Harry Reid and gang bashing him, he ask Congress Harry Pelosi and gang to do what he did match the highest bidder and give the money to the Military Families, it was over a million dollars! Rush matched it...Reid and gang have yet to be heard from?
Something else many don't know.....The Military was given a choice of what talk show they wanted to listen too? Rush was not on their list of options? However the Military collectively wrote his name on the ballot... Rush is now their Talk show! It was because of his support for them and his country a lesson others should take notice of!

| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 7:36:15 AM | .... since this is a thread about talk show hosts.....
http://talkingradio.blogspot.com/2007/04/randi-rhodes-is-now-top-lib-talk-host.html
The "goddess" of liberal talk radio is now the top rated lib talk host in the country. In the most recent Talking Radio survey of syndicated lib talk hosts, Randi Rhodes has ended Ed Schultz’ two year reign as the number one talker and held off aggressive challenges from number three Thom Hartmann and number four Stephanie Miller.
Despite improving his time period on about 20 stations, Schultz slipped to number two in the quarterly survey. Schultz was hurt by his continued lack of coverage in New York, a downgrade in Los Angeles, and the loss of carriage on KTRH in Houston. There is also some speculation that critical comments made by Schultz about other liberal talkers and AAR, which angered many listeners, also contributed to his decline. On the other hand, Rhodes hung on to all of her stations and received time period upgrades on eight stations.
The TR survey* rates the performance of virtually all of the syndicated lib talkers who broadcast on weekdays. You will notice that the hosts are rated by the percentage of the total audience that they reach.
Furthermore the positioning of the hosts is based on all radio listeners, not the so-called money demo, i.e. adults 25-49. You will have to go to other sources e.g. trade magazines or the host's websites to find specific data concerning ratings, shares, AQH's and cumes. Here is the ranking of syndicated lib talk hosts as of April 15, 2007:
.... and she keeps her clothes on.... wasn't it Dr. Laura the one who is has naked pics all over the net????

"military personnel vote for rush limbaugh"
|
| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 6:22:03 PM | I didn't get it from a link? there may or may not be a link that describes that?
It was a General on the ground in Iraq along with a few other boots on the ground that called in and told him that! He was surprised that when they were offered a list of talk shows to listen to Rush was not on the list presented to them.
The callers said that because of his support of the Troops and defending them when Congress called them murders rapers and baby killers, and said they could not win the war...they wanted to listen to someone who defended and supported them popular or not!
|
| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 6:32:33 PM | It's not my claim....it's a fact anyone listening that day heard the calls. I can't be responsible for those who don't listen to the program! But often times Military personnel call in to thank him for all he does for them, and how much they enjoy the program. But were falling away from the original post..it's not about the Military and Rush.. It's about Rush being number one in Talk Radio and signing a contract that made media history as the highest paid person in the news media! | |

| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 6:39:22 PM | | i think thats just living proof. this country is going down the wrong path, rush is like most who never served. they talk a real good game. but nothing more. | |

| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 6:43:56 PM | ... well with that kind of logic, i hope you never listen to Alex Jones......lol
so it is all about propaganda... i mean you can't have somebody who is not touting the right wing lines to the boys now can you......
ohhh this looks bad..... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/17/AR2005101701666.html Armed Forces Radio Tunes Out Liberal Show Host
By Howard Kurtz Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, October 18, 2005; Page C01
Liberal radio talker Ed Schultz was eagerly anticipating his debut yesterday on Armed Forces Radio, which agreed last month to carry his program to nearly a million soldiers around the world.
But at 7 a.m., Schultz's producer got a call from Allison Barber, the Pentagon's deputy assistant secretary for internal communications, who said without explanation that the deal was off. Ed Schultz thought he had a deal to broadcast to U.S. soldiers, but the Pentagon now says otherwise. Ed Schultz thought he had a deal to broadcast to U.S. soldiers, but the Pentagon now says otherwise.
Perhaps, Schultz said in an interview, it was just a coincidence that he spent the end of last week chastising Barber for coaching a group of U.S. soldiers in Iraq before a teleconference with President Bush.
"It kind of floored us," Schultz said from his studio in North Dakota. "The fact is, they don't want dissenting voices or any other kind of speech unless it's going to be promotional for them. Obviously, these people are making sure they're not going to have any opinion other than the Rush Limbaughs of the world."
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) won approval last year for a nonbinding resolution urging Armed Forces Radio to offer more political balance in programming. Limbaugh strongly objected, noting that the network carries National Public Radio and declaring, "I am the political balance."
Late last month, Manny Levy, chief of the radio division for Armed Forces Network, told Schultz's distributor, Jones Radio, by e-mail: "AFN Radio has squared away everything on our end to begin carrying the first hour of 'The Ed Schultz Show' each day, beginning Monday, October 17, 2005."
Levy added: "I'm sorry that there were so many panicked, 'I need an answer soon' calls, false starts and unexpected delays on our end. An awful lot of people in the government had (or tried to have) a hand in [the] program selection process that ended with the decision to add 'The Ed Schultz Show.' "
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said last night that Levy "got ahead of the process" and that no decision had been made in a review of which programming to add to the network. When asked about Schultz's insistence that his criticism of Barber played a role, Whitman called that "an unfortunate misperception on his part. That has nothing to do with this."
Barber was seen repeatedly on television last week asking mock questions to soldiers in Iraq, who generally gave responses similar to those they would momentarily provide to the president. Schultz played some of these clips on his show. The Pentagon said the soldiers were not rehearsed but apologized for "any perception that they were told what to say."
Barber was traveling and could not be reached yesterday. Schultz says Barber told his producer she could not say when, or whether, Armed Forces Radio would carry the show.

Becareful that's inflamatory to Obama supporters...and further suggest that anyone without a Military background has no point!

| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 7:17:41 PM | | May I remind you once again, this is not a post about the Military and Rush, it seems as though you keep trying to troll it from the actual topic! Rush signing the largest media deal in history and of course the Rush Limbaugh show being the number one rated show in Amercia.... | |

| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 7:28:57 PM | seems on topic to me.... talking about talk radio.... the subject header....and rush.... but twist away...
sorry you don't like the facts about how some of his audience is sort of captive and you didn't seem to have a problem when you were telling us how the armed forces voted to have him on the radio....with no links..... isn't every rush show searchable?

can't pretend that I understand why anyone with a brain would listen to this guy not sure who posted this butI'll try give a good civil answer. I think people might listen to Rush out of curiosity .. I remember years ago when Clinton was in office I would hear people talk about how Rush was so hard on Clinton...moderates wanted to know what Rush was saying because many times he would bring stories to the public that otherwise would not be heard on the MSM...I think it's good to have people like Rush and others who make us think...whether we agree or not.
|
| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/3/2008 10:04:35 PM | After a considerable search on my part, I could find absolutely nothing - no documentation whatsoever - that Rush Limbaugh was added to the AFR lineup by a vote from the military personal. I did, however, find lots of commentary about how the Senate Republicans, crying censorship, strong-armed the show on the air.
I do not see any reason to blindly believe any such voting took place.

Ms.Glam, The curiosity factor for sure is one reason, many from the left turn in regularly because many enjoy his coverage of the news, while others tune in to see what will say about the politics going on, as you mentioned that sometimes never hit the typical air waves of media programing! Avid listeners understand although he is the leader of the Conservative Party, he has no problem calling out either side on what he feels is wrong! Many Republicans have been chastised by Rush for their lack of staying true to the Conservative realm of thinking. Rush is a Conservative first! Also he was nominated for the Noble Peace prize for his work, not to many can say that!
Rush dominates the market when it comes to Talk show Radio, even Congress and the Senate listen to his show or have people listen to it, because they know he carries allot of power in the political arena! Many from the left consider him a threat to their exsitence which is why they are trying so hard to pass the Fairness Act...which limits free speech and would make Talk Radio (mainly) give equal time to the left. That's not democracy...That's a dictatorship mentality! That's Congress trying to tell the media what they can or can not talk about and how much time is alloted for each party! Liberal/Democratic talk radio are on the decline and continue loosing listeners, Because people don't want to hear one side only! Whether some agree or disagree with his thinking and talking points their is no question this is a very powerful voice in America...T.V. news can not compete with his ratings and audience. Which is the main reason why those who oppose him want him off the air, he exposes politicians for what they are with out bias, not even Bush has escaped or been exempt from Rush.
|
| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/4/2008 5:27:14 AM | Liberals do NOT listen to his show to get NEWS! Liberals might listen to know what the neocon talking points are, but no one on the left believes Rush is aything more than a purveyor of misinformation.
That he got an enormous contract is an example of what is wrong with America, not what is right. That someone who spreads so many lies and deliberate misinformation can become extremely wealthy doing so is a sad commentary on what we have become.
The AD HOMINEN attacks, the mean spiritedness, the lack of compassion, the arrogance he displays have become tradmarks of our once great nation. This is a sad sad example of our ongoing demise at the hands of these people.

Although I appreciate your desire to discredit this post, your efforts have become moot...The main theme of this post is that Rush Limbaugh signed a 400 million dollar contract the highest contract in media/talk radio that's undisputible!
I do not see any reason to blindly believe any such voting took place.
It really doesn't matter if you believe it or not...it is what it is! I can't spend my time trying to convince or cater to everyone who's research efforts come to different conclusions, or seem fruitless, that's something you will need to work through!
Whether you or anyone else believe's the Military enjoys the Rush Program, and ask for the Rush Program to be on the air waves, matters not to me, it's merely a side bar to the original post! But thanxxx for your concern

| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/4/2008 6:06:42 AM | | None of the military personal I've know have made a big deal, nor even mentioned Rush. If anyone was going to be on Armed Forces Radio, it should be Randi Rhodes. She ACTUALLY served in the military. She is a far better advocate for GIs than Rush, who had a pimple on his butt so he couldn't serve. Randi actually understands service members needs. | |

| Talk Radio the new media outlet Posted: 7/4/2008 6:39:07 AM | Because a lot of people don't know when they're being lied to. You can fool some of the people all of the time, (Rush listeners), you can fool some of the people some of the time (those who don't care) but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
I have only ever hear him say one thing that was true. I know when I'm being lied to and I resent it.
