| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/6/2008 12:38:14 PM | Nice..........So are we all official suspects now?
When do we have to have cameras in our homes to make sure we aren't building bombs?
I mean, why would you have a problem with it? Well...unless you have something to hide. Right?
Police state *Cough* Police State *Cough*
And also, I am not a part of a village. Random people did not raise me. My parents did.

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/6/2008 10:41:12 PM | Police state *Cough* Police State *Cough* just an observation but doesn't is seem that certain people in here have an adversity to the obvious truth about what is happening in this country ? I know it's not just arrogant stupidity, It can't be.
It's as obvious as the 911 truth movements evidence ( tons of obvious evidence) of a false flag op and government cover up that some of these posters on here have and agenda to keep people from knowing what is really and truly going on in the world . When does it stop ? When the mainstream media finally admits that 911 was an inside job ? I know that they will never accept that responsibility because they are useless cowards but it is somethingh to wonder about.

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/7/2008 5:24:00 AM | | this all has to do with the one world order, they will evently try to kill off all people who worship God, they will try to put in place a one world belief, and if you go agiasnt it they will try to kill you, it is all coming the microchip inbeded in the body it is all coming. But most importantly Jesus is coming to get his own out of this world, i cant wait. | |

That is without a doubt comming.

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/7/2008 8:38:12 AM | IMO anybody who still thinks that 19 nebulous "amateur pilot, Muslim terrorists" flew Jet-liners into buildings in 2001 is either deluded or completely in denial. Don't any of you think that it was strange how fast the first Patriot Act was implemented???? What? They all worked over-time and had it ready in 2 days? Anyone of you ever read PNAC's treatise "Rebuilding America's Defenses"? And isn't it coincidental that many of the architects of that truly scary document are either key members and/or consultants to the current administration. How about, Condoleeza's Statement: "How could we know that they would fly planes into buildings?" Even though one of the stories to explain the lack of jets being scrambled that morning was that they were practicing for that very contingency??? Bush actually stating that neither he nor anyone in the current administration suggested that Saddam Hussein, had anything to do with 911?
I am glad that a few people in this post have their "eyes wide open". With the mountain of evidence, the many physics "impossibilities and the total inconsistency of the original 911 commission report. It all begs for, at the very least, a new independent inquiry into who the actual terrorists were and what "really happened on that fateful day, before anymore
*Cough...Police State....*Cough* tactics are thrust upon us in the interests of "freedom". JMHO

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/8/2008 7:58:45 AM | So, what do you do then?
You have terrorist cells in the United States. How do you identify them and stop them?
If these things are an abuse of power:
Engages in suspected pre-operational surveillance (uses binoculars or cameras, takes measurements, draws diagrams, etc.)
• Appears to engage in counter-surveillance efforts (doubles back, changes appearance, drives evasively, etc.)
• Engages security personnel in questions focusing on sensitive subjects (security information, hours of operation, shift changes, what security cameras film, etc.)
• Takes pictures or video footage (with no apparent aesthetic value, for example, camera angles, security equipment, security personnel, traffic lights, building entrances, etc.)
• Draws diagrams or takes notes (building plans, location of security cameras or security personnel, security shift changes, notes of weak security points, etc.)
• Abandons a vehicle (in a secured or restricted location, such as the front of a government building, airport, sports venue, etc.)
• Makes or attempts to make suspicious purchases, such as large amounts of otherwise legal materials (for example, pool chemicals, fuel, fertilizer, potential explosive-device components, etc.)
• Acquires or attempts to acquire uniforms without a legitimate cause (service personnel, government uniforms, etc.)
• Acquires or attempts to acquire an official or official-appearing vehicle without a legitimate cause (such as an emergency or government vehicle, etc.)
Then what do you do, if these things are an abuse. What are we to do???
How do we find and stop terrorists from a potential attack???

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/8/2008 8:46:48 AM | | I agree with Ben Franklin. People who give up freedom for security deserve niether. Hey, I don't like you, or I am a paranoid goosey Lucy, or I like to stir up trouble cuz I'm bored...whatever. I think I'll call that hotline and make trouble. Why are we all assumed guilty, and must now prove our innocence? Move to Russia or China if you want to live like that, Comrade. Hitler started out espousing a new utopia where everyone conformed. It sounded REALLY good, and all the people waved their flags. Sieg Heil, they all shouted, until little by little, bit by bit, the absolute power corrupted absolutely. When it got so evil that no one could deny it any longer, it was hard to stop. Now we want to opress to our own selves. You don't think the communications corporations aren't the new Hitler? Think again. How much info does AT&T have on you already? | |

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/8/2008 10:41:41 AM | Making everyone a suspect, and violating there 4th amendment rights is not a way of deterring terrorists.
Aren't they suppose to hate us for our freedoms? We had that bashed over our heads since day one. And oddly enough since then, our government has been taking away what there suppose to hate.
Locking our country down is not going to stop terrorism.
Maybe if we got out of there f'n buisness, stopped killing there people, and stopped trying to rebuild the middle east, maybe just maybe they would stop trying to take us out.
That and I am not convinced of this so called threat as much as others are. I myself do not trust the government we have. I want my rights back. Taking them away does not make me safer. Infact, it puts me in more danger.

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/9/2008 9:19:22 AM | I would like to hear anyone on this thread make a suggestion as to how to protect ourselves from those who wish to harm us.
There are people out there, who don't give a crap where our military is. Radical Muslims have been targeting the West for over 50 years.
How do we protect our civilian population?
anything?
Anything?
Anything?

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/9/2008 10:32:43 AM | First, I'd crack down on the corruption. The West's militaries are hugely overfunded and in my opinion don't give good value for money. I'd move arms production back into the public sphere, where it was for centuries. Trying to apply 'the free market' means that weapons become commercial products designed for maximum profitability rather than designed for maximum military effectiveness.
I'd remove the 'modern management methods' from our officer corps. We want fighting soldiers running things, not office managers.
I'd work harder to make the U.N. an effective organization. We're all in this together and the only way we'll make it through is to present a common front, have a common set of rules the world's nations act with. Plus the more we co-operate the fewer places there will be for terrorists to hide.
I'd reorganize our intelligence gathering network. Hire a lot more field agents with knowledge of the area they're working in. We depend too much on high technology. Satellites and other such things are useful but not the be all end all. I'd hire a lot more analysts, again with lots of local knowledge, to sift through all the data that is available.
A little Sun Tzu to clarify.
The general rule for the use of the military is that it is better to keep a nation intact rather than destroy it. It is better to keep an army intact than destroy it, better to keep a division intact than destroy it, better to keep a battalion intact than destroy it, better to keep a unit intact than destroy it.
Therefore those who win every battle are not really skillful - those who render others armies helpless without fighting are the best of all.
The superior militarist strikes while schemes are being laid. The next best is to attack alliances. The next best is to attack the army.
The lowest is to attack a city. Siege of a city is only done as a last resort.
I love Sun Tzu. A light of wisdom.

How about we put troops on the southern boarders= for starters?
How about also stop treating Americans like there are terrorist suspects?
Maybe we could stop bombing countres that do not pose a threat to this country.
Taking our rights away will do use no good. It will do use harm.
At this point it looks as if we are on the verge of a dictatorial state. And I myself am terrified of that.
There are people out there, who don't give a crap where our military is. Radical Muslims have been targeting the West for over 50 years.
How about we stop trying to rearrange there leadership by overthrowing them?
How do we protect our civilian population?
We can protect ourselves pretty well.
The odds of me getting killed by an actual Muslim terrorist is extremely low.
If anything happens in the country like that. I'm gonna first look at my government as the first suspects. They aren't above doing whatever they have to, to take all of our rights away.
|
| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/9/2008 10:57:40 AM | So far the answer to my question, is to put troops on the border.
anything else we can do here in the U.S.?

3000+ People thought the same thing on 9-11
We all know how that worked out.

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/9/2008 11:09:03 AM | As to the question of "what do we do?"
We respect the liberty and freedom of one another, we respect the principles this nation was founded on, and we defend ourselves when attacked. Guess what? NO MATTER WHAT WE DO WE'LL NEVER BE "SAFE,"[/I] there will ALWAYS be ways to "get us" no matter how secure we think we are, and no matter how much privacy or freedom we give up in the process.
If "the terrorists hate us for our freedom," let's not "let them win" by reducing it, eh? It's the people trashing the constitution that are "with the terrorists," not the other way around. Al Qaeda didn't eliminate habeas corpus, the federal government did.
"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Ben Franklin
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty." - Thomas Jefferson

OK, impeach the current administration and throw the whole lot in Gitmo. This country would be a lot safer! They have you afraid of terrorists when it is this adminstration that is our biggest threat!

Where are all those nukes we paid for? Just drop the big one already, and spare the American casualties. I want one with my name on it cuz I paid for it. YEAH! Get all that fat oil. Why drag it out? Funny, thru all this, oil corps keep making record profits. Sieg Heil!!!

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/10/2008 11:46:41 AM | Abuse of power. It is overly broad and allows for any kind of mere speculation to merit 'a threat'. Its inherently different from a neighborhood watch because its not comprised of mere citizens, but of public workers who often give an impression of authority.
I'm all for protecting this country, but not to the point where we lose whats worth defending. If Americans must fight with one hand behind our backs, well, I consider that the cost of our liberty.
"When fascism comes to America, it will be because the majority didn't care."
I disagree. 'When' is arrives/d, it will because the majority of Americans begged for it. We're already a society that disdains accountability. No one wants to be help responsibility for anything, so no one wants to be seen palpably doing something of substance, lest they be held responsible. The next step is the willing and eager resignation of that responsibility and ergo, the authority that accompanies it.
"I would like to hear anyone on this thread make a suggestion as to how to protect ourselves from those who wish to harm us.

Some would be willing to sacrifice everything for mere survival. I do not count myself as one of them. We can do what our conscience allows, but the moment it infringes on liberty is the moment I step out. Theres a reason Patrick Henry phrased it as liberty or death.

| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/10/2008 11:53:20 AM | Its coincidental that I happen upon this thread today, as I was reading part of "Satire" by a Roman named Juvenal (no, not the rapper Juvenile).
"Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions - everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses"
Replace bread with fast food and circuses with mass media and uh... well, they used to same the United States was the new Roman Empire...
|
| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/11/2008 8:21:20 PM | | The Roman Empier collapsed shortly after that. We all need a comeuppance to shake us out of our apathy. The Boston Tea Party was over a 2 % tax, fercryinoutloud! But they had very little bread or circuses. Alls they had was Indian costumes. Liberty or death is a personal credo that gets me in endless hot water, but, hey, the price of freedom is eternal vigilence. That means get up off the couch & DO something. Hellllo! Is anyone out there? | |
|
| Good idea or abuse of power? Posted: 7/13/2008 5:03:14 PM | | I'm out here, but I haven't figured out what we can do as a minority. We're outnumbered and the enemy is too stubborn to see the truth. | |
