| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/13/2008 7:28:35 PM | Oh I don't know if that is altogether true. Some of us just have to be caught in the right moment Take myself for instance, I am usually behind the camera so it takes a moment for me to think how to smile, etc. | |

Posted: 10/13/2008 7:32:50 PM | I don't think that the way we pose reveals our mentality....I know that I have a tramp photo on my profile ( I was trying to be funny ). I know that I am very picky about who I'm attracted to and I don't roll in the hay with just anyone. There is more to me then sex..although sex it fun too with the right person !

This might sound very odd, but I've noticed that women who turn their head at an angle in photos, tilting it one way or another, are more often more shallow in real life.
hahahaha I can't say that's true, I mean I know many people that I've met on MySpace, Facebook else where as well that have pictures just like that, but they aren't shallow :) well not that I know of, so I will disagree, although certain people can be shallow, I know that for sure :) and just new here, so I don't know about here.
I've observed that women who post pictures of them taking their own picture in a mirror with a flash camera tend to be more introverted and odd in real life.
I have no idea, I think I knew one that took pictures in the mirror, but I don't know if she was introverted or not, I've never really paid too much attention to be honest.
Women with a lot of pictures in sunglasses are covering something up. If there's one pic with sunglasses and others without, they aren't.
I'm not sure about that, I haven't ever came across someone with sunglasses in every picture, although you really do have a good point, but I don't think it's anything serious to be honest. Hiding a black eye? haha I'm not too sure.
My observations are based on people I've seen online (particularly here) and what they're like when I meet them in real life. Generally any more when I see a woman picture with a bunch of tilted head big smile pictures I think this woman's potential trouble, very self-absorbed.
The people I tend to pick and try to go out with don't so much do "model poses" - they just let their picture get taken, smiling or not.
Wondered what other people's experiences are.
Model poses? well I don't know, I can't speak on that one. End of the day, me myself, I take a lot of pictures of myself, I think the reason I do so is to give a lot more of my personality through pictures as I can, I'm not normal, I make funny faces, I'm a funny character, so I like to show that. Don't know about all of that though, I couldn't say a women that poses is self absorbed, some might be though, depends who they are :)

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/16/2008 6:58:15 PM | I just stumbled on this thread and I thought it was a funny coincidence...I have two pics, one with a turned head, the other was a self-pic in the mirror (albeit with a digital camera, but still).
I always wondered about the people I saw with the professional portrait pics....

Possibly, but "introverted" is "sexy"...lol. There is nothing *less* attractive than a person who tries to be the center-of-attention in a gathering of people.[/quote[ Thank you from the 75% of us who are introverted and don't need to be the center of attention to feel validated!

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/16/2008 8:09:37 PM | silabear: I always wondered about the people I saw with the professional portrait pics.... What about us did you wonder? I have anywhere from 2-6 professional pictures up at a time. I usually rotate my pics between professional ones and cell phone ones and I rotate them 2-10 times daily.
I use professional pics because they make me look beautiful. I use cell phone pictures to show the real me (still beautiful but with flaws. lol).

Posted: 10/16/2008 9:51:32 PM | | the sunglasses part? i dont think thats always hiding somethin. suppose that woman was at a beach and her friend took a pic of her with her sunglasses on during the day? or shes sitting at a pool? same thing. i used to never post my pic online due to privacy reasons, i was get told i was hiding something. im not obligated to tell anyone anything about myself nor sit here and give them a stephen king novel about my life. ive seen ppl where they looked like trailor trash or the warden of the KKK i had to wonder about them. ive seen men who look like in their pix that they just killed someone and didnt care.

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/17/2008 9:34:44 AM | | I cant say I agree with judging people only by their photos but i do hate how most girls have that 'model' look in their photos. its like they are scared to be natural and be themselves. no one looks like that everyday, its a fake pose, contrived to look good. like the girly doe-eyed look where they kinda raise their eyebrows and pout heir lips to look sexy...in EVERY photo. like, my sister does that face in every one of her 200 facebook photos whereas i have pretty much every pose in the book covered! lol | |

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/17/2008 10:21:38 AM | I dont like the word mentality as I associate it with judgment. I prefer using the word sensibility b/c it is more reflective of personal taste and interest.
Yes, you can see from pics how people spend time and where they frequent. You can see sophistication level, level of comfort in nature, hobbies, etc... I look for sentence formation and word usage, full body pics b/c Im suspicious when there is only face or head shots.
I am always suspicious of women who only put pics with sun glasses on and I wont accept an e-mail without pics attached. It is a matter of etiquette for me. What are you hiding? Something...

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/17/2008 10:44:20 AM | I classified my body type as a few extra pounds & have headshots on my profile & I have nothing to hide. What you see is what you get!
If you don't like what you see, you are entitiled to your preferences as we all have them & I know that I have mine!
However, people are NOT entitled to treat others with disrespect because of personal physical preferences. Beauty comes in all shapes & sizes and it's only skin deep.
Believe what you see or see what you believe.

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/18/2008 4:05:21 PM | The photos on POF are awful. Granted, it's a free site and bandwidth costs money. But the reproduction quality is very poor and in most cases makes people look uglier than they need to. How do I know this? Because they have the same photo posted on another site and it looks much better!
Moreover.... I wish people understood that their picture will be squeezed into a roughly square thumbnail, which can make a svelte person look fatter than Santa Claus. The way to get around this is to crop the picture into a square shape when you upload it, which not everyone knows how to do, but which most computers 5 yrs old or younger are able to do.

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/18/2008 8:56:56 PM | I do make judgement calls but only after I know a person a little thru emails. Like a guy standing in front of a plane says he is flying this weekend and flying is listed in his hobbies well I think this guy really likes planes....duh!
Have to agree with DaveB951 I think he alone has made the Peter Pan and Jiffy stock go up:)
The only thing I have issues with is OLD pictures. I want to see what you look like NOW not then. I update mine when I loose 10 lbs. I really dont want to because my face has more wrinkles then it did when I was 10 lbs heavier but I would hate to meet a guy and not look exactly as expected!
I think the quirky pictures are funny and show the persons character. Just a little more you can tell about yourself in the profile. I want to know if I guy is going to moon someone on a date so I dont wear my painties that night too!!
Boobies...Pec....etc however should be saved for the bedroom or dont do it half azzed buy a fvcking cam and charge $9.99 per month like all the insecure whores do on the internet porn sites. This is an adult dating site for relationships. Friend finders are for the s1uts and married people looking for intimate encounters so get the hell off POF
oh I meant Pretty please

| Does the way people pose in photos reveal their mentality? Posted: 10/24/2008 5:31:22 PM | I think you are correct, good observation. Posting pictures to impress. I love the one's of men standing in front of sports car or motorcycle, may be their own, maybe not, but it does not make me want to contact them. The "model " pose has always puzzeld me after all how many of them are models ? | |
