Listen Lil, open yer cakehole when you've lived amongst the crime and fear that everybody else around here lives amongst. I'm guessing you've spent just a couple of weeks here...maybe a little more, but not actually laid down roots?
Liverpool had much of it's culture bombed to destruction during WWII and is basically a depressed, problem city that's never quite recovered...a fact which is known by many, not just residents.
Loose the ignorance Sheila!
My family are from Toxteth & the Dingle - I've been back 7 years, four of which lived in Old Swan. I see your having a good deco at my profile so you do the maths. Qualify me for an educated opinion? Yes I thought as much.
lived amongst the crime and fear that everybody else around here lives amongst
Fear & crime?! Oh grow up & get a back bone - my 80 year old mother isn't even afraid of getting two buses home of a night ffs! What - did a nasty lil' boy pull your hair & someone pinch one of your gladioli out your garden? Arrgh - diddums!
Liverpool had much of it's culture bombed to destruction during WWII
You can't bomb culture out of a city - if it lives in the heart of it's people - it survives. We ARE Capital of Culture 2008. Not thanks to the likes of you.
and is basically a depressed, problem city that's never quite recovered...a fact which is known by many, not just residents.
No. It's a belief that leads to misconceptions fuelled by people that choose to be self pitying victims & are born moaners - good profiling? Move with times - we're not living in the 80's.
Ignorance? I'am OFFICIALLY a Liverpool Ambassador. Nothing pretentious about me. I am PROUD to be Scouse - & take umbrage people having pity parties & blaming it on my city. Ignorance is forming an uneducated opinion - like you did about Australia. Name a city there that you THINK doesn't have crime?!
On second thoughts - just go back to where you come from - it's not fair for a village to be deprived of it's idiot. *blows kiss*

| Itchy feet yet again! Posted: 7/3/2008 3:52:40 PM | Brighton is great. I have family there and went to University there. It's no where near the size of London though so you don't get too much hussle and bussle unless in the town centre areas. But it's easily big enough not to sell out of loaves of bread when the tourists flock in. Rail routes are all good and so are road routes. Quite close to Gatwick.
Stamor Park (I believe that is spelt correct) is a lovely place to go.
Just avoid Moulsecombe if that is spelt right. It was always the dodgy part. I remember playing football there several times and we used to draw straws to choose whose car we were going over in. It may have changed since I was last there, but I doubt it.

On topic: you could try somewhere like Bristol, 925 (no, don't actually, I just wanted to type something on topic.)

Tried de-camping down to that area once for 15 long miserable years. Felt like i was carrying out missionary work trying to teach them a sense of humour.
Gave up and returned to my wonderful home town of Liverpool in the end.
The fact you are so hate filled towards your home town says far more about you than it does the City.

| Itchy feet yet again! Posted: 7/4/2008 3:26:04 AM | Who knew this would open such a can of worms!
I'm still thinking Brighton is a bit more expensive than I want, it's not far off London prices so my wish for a slightly better lifestyle may prove a bit fruitless. I do understand the suggestion though, Brighton is my sort of place.
I also think the puddy tat would love a bit more of a country feel, think she was a farm cat in a past life!

| Itchy feet yet again! Posted: 7/4/2008 3:42:27 AM | Stay out of North Yorkshire~ we as guns for dem city slickers comin over here n takin our women and our jobs!
You would hate it here, town closes before it opens ~ Entertainment is watching the traffic lights change, and most girls have a higher sperm count then the boys!
Go West Young (wo)man, Go West!
(Lived in Cornwall for a time ~ steer clear of Saltash though, its a dive!)
Plymouth is nice. | |

If i could up and leave now id move to Spain, the beaches and weather! You are still so near home...
The fact you are not bothered about the weather, if i were you id move to Ireland definetly Galway or Kilarney or Belfast....
youd love it if you enjoyed NZ....

I couldn't agree more with this comment.
I am from Sheffield, & have lived in London & Brighton. All great places but from what you are saying a little too big & lively for what you really want at this time.
I am 5 minutes from Bournemouth, 5 minutes from Poole, & everything I want & more is on my doorstep. ( except a like minded PoF'er it seems).

| Itchy feet yet again! Posted: 7/4/2008 9:06:35 AM | I once moved to Leeds as I kept hearing it was a buzzy vibrant lovely place.
It is not. It is second only to Dublin in it's ranking of the most boring place on the planet to live!
Have fun hunting for new places...would definitely recommend the South Coast.

| Itchy feet yet again! Posted: 7/4/2008 3:59:37 PM | Hi 925dancer,
Have you considered somewhere along the line between London and Brighton, I live in Crawley and have friends you may have met in Horley. There is a good public service to both cities from those towns, night life is not too bad in ever town. Failing that one of the towns just up or down the coast from Brighton. where by you can share a cab with new found friends into Brighton.
I suggest thes possiblities as we have met by my use of them up to the London meets along with friends from Brighton, Worthing and Horley. Oh and not forgetting Hove
Hope to catch you again soon at a meet, if your going to auss we will have to have a good bye party.
