Hi Stefano!

I've enjoyed many of your posts. Anyway, I would not want such slimeballs representing me. Granted some of them are Democrats, but I've noticed that the overwhelming majority of these dirtbags who engage in sick behavior are right wing Republicans. I think it goes with the territory

I will say that I'd be willing to bet there are as many Democrats with weird sexual behavior. I won't go digging because I honestly believe there are topics which are on the issues that can be discussed and would serve better for debate.

and if this thread were about a Democrat would you still feel it was "bait?" Probably not.

Because these two men, who have the responsibility to voice the opinion of their fellow man, such as myself, who happen to support the bill, have concurred with many others that this is the wish of the people , we should set fire to them as hypocrites?

I don't think that to many of "the people" would share your oppinion on thsi one. And they are hypocrites.

And as far as for the expected brawl, Im a lover, not a fighter

unless you are a man that wants to marry another man....no love for that

How many democrats are trying to ban their own sexual behavior, thats the real question.

The other question is why are these guys trying to do this?

I figured Ted Haggard, the evangelical pastor who left his Colorado Springs pulpit (and the presidency of the National Association of Evangelicals) after news broke of his sexual relationship with a male prostitute, could give it his blessing and that would really make the irony that much more surreal.

There's just something about that dogmatic morality that attracts weirdos.

I don't know, but it appears that two Republicans who have been busted recently for Adultery (one of them homosexual) appear to believe it's time to legislate morality they don't appear to have.

I don't know how much clearer I can make it.
so what? if we knew of every politician who committed adultery we would be spending so much time on gossiping about "affairs".. besides isn't this their own private business? Remember these two are probably only 2 of hundreds or thousands of Republicans/Democrats who have affairs and if you want to get Religious about it.. yes they have sinned.. but that is between them and their God.. in my opinion.

As has been mentioned already, it is just extremely ironic that the two people presenting this bill have had very public scandals. Of course all of our sins are between us and our final judge, but look at what they're doing~they are trying to make marriage only between a man and a woman. Doesn't that kind of smack of judgement? I think the OP's intentions are to show the ridiculousness of two people who are presenting what can be considered a judgemental bill, when they have both done these extremely questionable things themselves.....how many times does this need to be reiterated?

Well for one you're making an assumption of adultery about these other people, and I do agree, adultery is personal for your standard person, hell I don't even really care about it when a person commits adultery if they're a politician.

of course when they commit a CRIME while running on a platform of MORALITY maybe they should be held to a higher standard?

I'm really curious where the disconnect is here for you?

They will have to answer to a higher power.. the higher power is forgiving and gracious.. their constituants may or may not be forgiving.. I can think of many politicians who have had affairs and yet are still endeared to this day.. one in particular is John F. Kennedy who I really admired.

I agree that these doofuses should be held to a higher standard: they are hypocrites, plain and simple.

Among the worst of these "moral values" clowns is Newt Gingrich, who is hypocritically doing a campaign to put GOD back in government. Get this: He served divorce papers to his wife when she was dying of cancer! Family values...NOT!

I don't listen to conservatives mouth off about family values--usually something comes out sooner or later to show that these "people" display anything BUT family values!!

The genuine articles who truly support family values do so by their actions and compassion toward families. They don't have to mouth off about family values, which to me include supporting marriage between both opposite sex and same sex couples (monogamy should be encouraged!!), allowing gays to adopt children who otherwise would languish in foster care, and not discriminating against people for traits with which they are born. Those are REAL family values!! Hatred is not a family value is a bumper sticker I see from time to time, and it is so true.

can we all play this way? Not pay for a crime because we will pay for it later in some form of after life. It is irresponsible to turn a blind eye because this is thought of as more of a "moral issue" than a crime.

I am 100% against death! Even though one day I will certainly die. I guess that makes me a hypocrite. Or maybe, I shouldn't warn people about a police speed trap that catches alot of people. I got caught speeding. So, I guess that means I can't warn anyone about the trap. That would make me a hypocrite. Boy! Sure wouldn't want to be that! A friend of mine got lung cancer after smoking for years. He warned me about smoking. I guess I should have called him a hypocrite.

Why is it that sometimes a person is called a hypocrite, while other times they are not. Seems like ALL parents are hypocrites. Because they warn children not to do the exact things they have learned was wrong or harmful. Seems kind of odd.

Authorities take care of crimes

Police enforce the law.
Legislators pass and enact laws.
These men are legislators.

Ok, let's try this little scenario. I'm hoping we all know about the kind of recent MLB steroid scandal, otherwise I'll lose you pretty quick-like.

Jose Canseco and Barry Bonds are elected co-baseball commissioners tomorrow. They decide to pass a new rule, for the whole of baseball, that there will be no more drinking of Gatorade. They pass this new rule, because Gatorade has been 'scientifically proven' to replace electrolytes lost during strenuous activities, and therefore could be construed as a performance enhancing beverage. No MLB players are ever allowed to drink it again, and if caught, their reputations would be tarnished as well.

Now how much sense does that make? Given especially the fact that Bonds was not stripped of his record, and these men are still either working in baseball or making money off their time in baseball....and were both outed as having used the highly controversial performance enhancing steroids that are outlawed by the MLB, about 50 times a step up from Gatorade. How plausible is it that they could pass the Gatorade rule? Don't you think that'd make them seem just a tad hypocritical???????

And can I just add that yes authorities take care of crimes....but these two men are trying to make something a criminal offense, based on morality when they showed little morality themselves. You keep saying 'we can not or should not judge', yet this bill is based on a moral judgement......

I just feel like none of this is sinking in here

Police enforce the law.

if they've broken a LAW then the Police will enforce it.. what is so unusual about Legislators being unfaithful? In this world we live in with lack of values and morals.. look how people live on the West Coast.. anything goes.. it's not just Adultery we've had Legislators charged with hitting WH security personnel and other embarassing charges.

.. maybe these men realize their mistake and want to fix it. It takes a bigger person to admit a mistake and perhaps work to correct it.

I think that the Senators irregardless of personal behavior have to abide by the will of constituants. That is not saying that constituants agree with their behavior. The marriage protection act is an important issue to many Americans. Not just Republicans but Democrats also. I heard a saying once that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Hypocisy is not limited to any political party. The importance is not the messengers, it is the message. It is my strong belief and opinion, that marriage should be exclusive for man/woman marriages. I commend the two Senators not for hypocrisy but for the courage it took to sponser the bill. Don't be so sure that this bill will not become a reality sooner or later and I will say thank God for it when it becomes the law of the land.

.. maybe these men realize their mistake and want to fix it. It takes a bigger person to admit a mistake and perhaps work to correct it.

So relizing their mistakes and wanting to fix them means denying the rights of others? I fail to see how discriminating against a group of people because of their sexual oreintation is being a bigger person. And have they admitted to any of their wrong doings? i believe that one retracted (or tried to) his original guilty plea.

your right, we are not to judge....and that includes sexual oreientation. I find it amazing how judgemental some christians can be on this topic. Tell me, if Jesus was walking the earth today do you think he would be going around condemming people for their sexual oreintation?

Somebody point to where I claimed that Democrats hadn't committed crimes, the point is that none of these people are sponsoring legislation that is directly related to their own criminal acts... within a year of committing them!

Also, perhaps http://www.boycottliberalism.com/Scandals.htm isn't the best source for unbiased discussions of democratic members. The post about Clinton is just laughable.

glamour6, an affair I can understand and even forgive ....although I really felt Clinton got what he deserved, impeached, after he took BJs in the OVAL OFFICE and lied to the entire country.......but these two, soliciting another MAN in a filthy toilet stall, a complete stranger and the other guy, wearing diapers with hookers?

Thats not an affair, that is a sick person. Big difference.

And I dont care what political party they are with, to be quite honest. I dont want people like that making laws and trying to legislate morality for others when they've got their hands full themselves.

And anyway, I dont want my Constitution cluttered with that bullshit, either. Its not a federal matter. It is for individual states and churches to decide for themselves. I do not see ANY federal purpose served here, AT ALL.

let me tell ya I bet there is a lot of weird kinky crap going on in Washington by both sides of the isle the trick is to not get caught.. I've learned to not be so outraged when this happens to either side because I know that humans are not perfect and if there is a sex addiction we have therapy for that and I'm sure their Govt. Insurance will more than pay for that cost. Alot of politicians have addictions whether it be sexual, alcohol, gambling..etc..etc.. and I don't like to cast stones on peoples sexual preference the story just becomes so Tabloid.

your right, we are not to judge....and that includes sexual oreientation. I find it amazing how judgemental some christians can be on this topic. Tell me, if Jesus was walking the earth today do you think he would be going around condemming people for their sexual oreintation?
I can't speak for Jesus or even guess how he would feel.. some, not all Christians can be judgemental related to sexual preference but I don't think it's always necessarily related to the Bible or religious convictions.. I know many people who are opposed to homosexualty for reasons other than religion so we can't put everyone in the same box.

if they've broken a LAW then the Police will enforce it.. what is so unusual about Legislators being unfaithful? In this world we live in with lack of values and morals.. look how people live on the West Coast.. anything goes.. it's not just Adultery we've had Legislators charged with hitting WH security personnel and other embarassing charges.

Well this is just all over the place.
If they've broken a LAW.
You do know, that bills are presented in the hopes that they become LAWS, right? (Remember this little gem? "I'm just a bill, you know I'm only a bill, and I'm waiting here on capitol hill".....that little guy eventually became ~ a law).
What is so unusual about legislators being unfaithful?
Nothing. But it is unusual for them to keep their job after they've broken laws, and then go on to pass more laws that are in the general ballpark as the laws they have broken. Being unfaithful is one thing. Soliciting a prostitute is breaking the law. So is soliciting sex in a public restroom.

Have they been found guilty? and sentenced? I might have missed that part.

Everyone who co-sponsors or signs on for this bill should be pressured by their constituents to resign because they don't get their purpose in their position. Our government was not founded on regulating morality and it should never enter into that arena because morality is relative and it's not their job.

Sure the Bible and Christianity indicates strong feelings about Homosexuality but another thing in the Bible is that God never asks for us to do his job for Him. He's got it covered. Judge not lest ye be judged yourself... we are told to stay out of His business and to focus on our own business.

This is just another step away from Liberty and Freedom for all and closer to Liberty and Freedom for just a few. That's NOT my America.

Craig, who entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct, was detained and charged for attempting to engage in sexual activity with a male undercover police officer. His arrest and plea became public two months later. At that time, Craig attempted to withdraw his plea and enter a new plea of not guilty. To date, his efforts have been denied by the courts.
Okay so I'm really not clear yet as to if he has been back to court and sentenced.. could you provide updated information for us? The article does not make it clear, only that Craig was charged.. if he has not been sentenced and found guilty yet than he's really no different than William Jefferson (D) who has been under investigation for over 2 years on more serious charges and he's running for re-election. And he was chosen by Pelosi to be on an Ethics committee. So please provide updated information on Craig if you can.
