And dealing out punishment accordingly!

| Is it an insult Posted: 7/4/2008 10:17:05 PM | OP - I think a lot of this has to do with the "cougar" phenomonim, and I am rather sick of it. I have removed my pics from my profile for that very reason. I do not find it complimentary when a 20 something emails me, advising that I'm a MILF. My kids are online here and so are their friends, so in order to keep in contact with them, my mail restrictions are wide open.
You are not weird - dating is subjective. and if you are not looking for young cougar meat or want to be part of a young mans sexual learning curve, like me - its your choice.
I dont think they take it as an insult, I think their egos are being bruised, and they are not mateur enough to understand and not take it personal.
Dont beat yourself up about, laugh at them and feel sorry for them.

| Is it an insult Posted: 7/5/2008 1:27:10 AM | | Agree with most of the reples, but I state in my profile that I would like a slightly younger man as men of my age seem so oldddddd.., No offence to anyone..lol | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/5/2008 7:04:19 PM | | I have my settings so that people too young for me can't mail me. | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/5/2008 8:39:09 PM | | Ahhh thanks - I didn't know that setting existed! Cougar no more! | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/5/2008 8:53:52 PM | | I set my settings at 80+ no more .Just something about polident. | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/5/2008 9:34:28 PM | Boys will be boys..............mommy..... | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 9:30:08 AM | From the other side of the issue, I've been told by a lady that I was too old for her...she was five years younger than I am! In that case, I think it was a polite excuse, maybe she thought it would be nicer than saying simply, "forget it"! But, dand, it did make me feel old!
But I think the OP's repsonse was not an insult! It was a polite rejection. We're adults. We're allowed to do that, and supposedly able to take it when we are the one being rejected.
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 9:44:43 AM | | Never saw it as an insult, rather I've always felt its part of the immaturity of younger men and a game for them to contact older women. To those younger men who are honestly looking for a mother figure...........they'll get over it as they mature. | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 10:50:06 AM | I consider receiving mail/messages from men in their 20s - 30s, a wonderful compliment. I decline due to the age difference, but let them know I'm truly flattered (regardless of their intent) and wish them well.
If you happen to open the mail before you're off to work or wherever, it only adds to the beginning of a brand new beautiful day.
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 11:13:09 AM | Personally I found the 20 somethings who were contacting me at that time viewed POF as their playground. I tried the polite responses and no I don't see it as flattery at all... nor do I worry overmuch about their feelings because it's all a game to them... another maybe if I (mass) email enough.. one will say yes...
come on... are the responses worthy of polite response?
"your hot"
"wow"
"Sexy"
"what are you doing tonight?"
"Am I wasting my time chatting? Aren't we gonna get together" then poof... lol....
Take your pick I've heard them all....
I have yet to get honest polite questions, statements from them....
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 11:27:44 AM | | I'm sure you will get them now...that was quite informative...lol...I think the term "cougar" and "milf" is much more polite than what it used to be, "pity f***ing"......as long as those emails keep turning up, it's just flattery and it's all good, but to put this all in it's proper perspective....think about to your own teens and 20 something years....would you really ever wanna seriously date any of your friends parents?????? | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 11:49:20 AM | Henry.... lmao.... hell no I wouldn't date my friends dad's.... but I had one dad that wanted to....
don't you go sending me those messages now, you hear?????
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 11:52:39 AM | | I happen to KNOW your friend's Dad and he never said that about you.....he DID say he might boink you...but he never said he'd date you!....lol....he would of had to get you up for school and watch you dip your wheaties! | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 11:57:43 AM | | Dang right I dip my wheaties or maybe not they'd get soggy.. ewww... I was more of a wheat chex girl.... | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 12:49:00 PM |
I have yet to get honest polite questions, statements from them.... and my point on that is most 20 somethings aren't really being sincere so why worry about polite banter....
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 1:22:43 PM | I don't think it's an insult but I usually don't tell them that they are too young etc....UNLESS they continue to email me after I write: "I'm fine and thank you for the compliments in your note to me. Have a nice day and I hope you have good luck "
Then if they contact me again I tell them they're too young. The first one usually does it though 9 times out of 10.

When I receive an e-mail from a man in his 20's, I just sweetly reply back with " I'm very flattered and you sure are a cutie honey, but I don't date anyone I could have given birth to."
this is what I say, too, and I haven't had a bad reaction, either.
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 5:17:17 PM | I don't know about anyone else, but the opposite happens to me. See, I'm not even 20 yet but I still receive all sorts of emails from guys aged 26+, even when I specifically stated I'm only looking for guys aged 19-23.
I know my profile states I'm 20 but I'm really 19, I accidently set it to 1987 lol
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/6/2008 5:46:36 PM | If a young lady in her 20s emailed me I'd be flattered silly. Of course, I'm flattered silly when a young lady in her 30s, 40, or 50s emails me...
My dilemma is, my daughter says I can't date anyone younger than her (she's 35), so now it's absolutely mandatory that I have to respond to any woman who emails me, especially those 34 and younger- right?
Really, OP, if someone is insulted by a "no thanks," you wouldn't want to know them anyway.
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/7/2008 8:21:42 AM | I had a 22 year old contact me, and I politely told him that though I was flattered, I was looking for someone closer to my own age. Which he replied back to with a "Well, I was just looking to hit it" type comment.
Gee, WOW! Now that I know that, DANG, yeah! Tell your Mommy that you got a girl coming over, and can she please go pick up some Nesquick and peanutbutter? You want the house to yourself!
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/7/2008 10:28:17 AM | | I always get young gals writing me to hook up of course I think most of them must be hookers because no good looking gal in her right mind would want to be with an ugly old dog like me...OMG! Maybe they are not in their right mind that would be even better, cheaper. Nevermind... | |
| Is it an insult Posted: 7/7/2008 6:13:49 PM | | Well..at least she didn't say "Pizz off kid, I'm looking for a MAN!"...ah well...some just don't get it, do they? thye figure all women would want a 20 something...boy toys...sheesh... | |
