Cheating - more or less likely as you get older ?
Posted: 7/4/2008 6:42:32 PM
The reson for so many people bringing this subject of cheating in dating sites is because they have been throught the mill of emontional live, and if they have'nt then they ort to think about their own personality why are they asking questions about a subject that has not happened to them yet.

Those people that leave us for someone ellse are not lost to us but we must think of them in a diffferent way.

Though there will always be the 30 or 40 something yr old woman who has brought up kids and all that, who goes out to work and discovers herself with a fling. Best to fling her hook then.

It must do wonders for the self esteem, being "desirable" after being Mum, it's a shame fidelity don't get a look in.

Well that dig at women sounds like it might have come from an unfortunate personal expierience Aquaplane, so im going to refrain from pointing out that the more common situation being that whilst the woman is "being Mum" the male does seem to get bored and wanders off! Not always the case I appreciate, but hey! And maybe these women do the honourable thing by bringing the children up BEFORE straying!

Ooops I didnt refrain from pointing it out did I?

Do you have some concrete evidence to demonstrate that men cheat more often than women, or is that just more misandric mud slinging?

Well it wasnt so much the who cheats more men or women issue.........as yes obviously both are as bad!

It was a response to women "being Mum" and then going off and cheating, where as in my experience and that of many many friends, whilst the woman is "being Mum" the men do still go out and cheat, as the woman is not quite so appealing whilst covered in sick and smelly nappies. Im glad that Aquaplane pointed out that at least most of the time the woman takes the task of raising children responsibly before straying!

I REITERATE::::::::: NOT IN ALL CASES!!!!!!!!

And before you all pounce on me for sharing this well proven fact, no I am not a man hater, or a bitter and twisted single mother!!!!!!!

Some wimen eh?
A man has to condition himself to fidelity, our base urge is to spread our goo in as many different wombs as we can to ensure the continuation of our species.

Western civilisation dictates that we will live in a monogamous relationship, unless your a Mormon!

So the odd slip, (not that sort of slip) may be a genetic condition winning the battle of wills for a man and taking us back to our primal urges?

Wimin have the 'body clock' ticking which as they approach the twilight of child bearing years (even though they may not want children) may make them realise that the limp co cked old lush snoozing in the chair is not meeting their base needs (continuation of species) - hence the grass becomes greener.

Perhaps if we really are this different we should live by the adage.....

"Men are from Mars, and women are from escort agencies!" (?)

I'm not sure it makes any difference over age, I have thought this for the past decade or so.
I yes am not quite as angelic as the rest here, although I haven't cheated I have been
the bit on the side that enables married men to cheat more than once- even then I was manogamus - what a****ead I am! Awaiting daggers from women now.lol.

I was young and truly didn't realise the hurt and disruption it would cause. I am vowed never to do it again and find it repulsive and also that part of MissSelf replusive also.
Not to mention the effects it realy has on one's self - I mean how am I ever gonna imagine men can be manogaumus now? I would be niave. My eyes will always be looking for the tell tale lies and body language - But then I also am logical. And I feel I would be less likely to accuse as it may be down to my paranoia knowing about my past and how easy it is.
WORRY ABOUT IT, IF IT HAPPENS

I also belive that you have to be able to communicate efficicently with your partner, most people dont even have the capacity or think the other is thinking the same as them. This would move any bond closer and also make sex better. This entail means that there is a whole lot more to lose and people appreciate each other more.

Now I want someone for me not just for them - if you know what I mean.
yep once a cheat nearly always a cheat.

No problem with you sharing this alleged "fact" - but I'd be far more inclined to believe it if you shared the alleged "proof"? (You saying it's so does NOT constitue a "well proven fact")

no I am not a man hater

Are you sure?

I'm not sure which man you're talking about here - I never had to "condition myself", it's always come naturally to me.

I was talking about the male gender of our species - reproduction being one of the seven characteristics of life. An urge is to impreganate as many woman as possible to ensure your 'line' continues, if you ask me to back this up with fact - than I will be happy to do so, but you seem a bright enough chap, I am sure you can find your own evidence to substantiate what I am saying - than more 'evidence' to disprove it!!!! God How did we survive without the internet?

Not all cheat, but certainly for men there is evidence that we have to fight our 'base [r] urges, in order to remain faithful to the fairer sex.

It's not gender related IMO more human race related.

Rollox!. The human race as i recall didn't start off purely monogomous it's something that has become expectedof us some where along the way.

The "fairer sex" IMO are just as likely to cheat as men.Morals, integrity and willpower are the deciding factors as to whether somebody will cheat or not, nothing to do with gender.

Personally i believe that those who have a fundimental belief in monogomy can go off the rails in there attitude but when and if they believe the right person comes into there life then they will demand it of themselves and there partner.
Unfortunately in this game called Dating there is usually allways one who wants it more than the other.
And the more you get stuck in your ways the harder it is to get off the ride!

No problem with you believing or disbelieving my "alleged fact" . I make my comment based on personal experience and that of friends on both sides of the arguement.

Yes im quite sure! I dont like men peeing on toilets seats, and should there be such a thread then I would add my twopenneth to that also, would that make me a man hater!

Owch, reading this brought back painfull mammorys from a few days ago when i was getting drunk at my keyboards.
Being the lazy git that i am i needed a pee so instead of getting up and going i decided to just swing it round to the toilet thats down the passage from where i was sat. But,unbeknown to me,the bloody toilet door was close.
I suffered terrible bruising!

My personal experience is that women are more likely to cheat - so (based on your logic) that's a "well proven fact".

Me either. Fortunately for me, being a guy, I can figure out the whole complicated mechanical process of putting the toilet seat up or down as appropriate.

LIKE I SAID............this was not an issue of gender and which one is more likely to cheat!!!!!!

This was my response to the post saying that women after "being mum" then decide to go out and cheat. My response being that yes women(who are prone to cheat) do tend to be responsible and raise the children and then go west, whilst men ( who are prone to cheat) do it regardless.

LIKE I SAID.................not in all cases

Not sure if this constitutes cheating or not ?........ I had met two men on different occasions for a few weeks, I liked both equally,I couldn't decide between them, so I let it continue until one decided to look elsewhere, so my decision was made for me, and no sooner had that happend then the other one went off .....or is it only cheating if you're sleeping with them ?.....in which case I didn't cheat on anyone

Hmmm now I wonders why they buggered orf.

An ex (shortish term one, she wanted kids......) rang tuther day to wish me Happy Birhday and to offer to make it me Birthday!! (tomorrow by the way ho hum). Now she is cohabiting so obviously if I had agreed to her offer she'd be cheating, although she reckons not because he is allegedly cheating on her.

So if one is being cheated on is it then cheating to do likewise?

Personally I suggested she simply ends it. Her response, no, she can't live without a man in her life. Jeez some people eh!

Urrmm.. Never cheated, had the oportunity but some blummin flicky gurly white thingy on my right shoulder hurts me more than the Oh so handsome mysteriously stud like devilishly likeable thing on my left (sinister) side... It seems I will forever lean to the light side of things despite the attraction of the dark.. Still married (ok so 6 weeks to go till absolute) but I can only look and despite nearly touching, I have never fallen. Ever... Is this a sad statement? I am not looking for sympathy.. It is just the way I am? I don't/never have/never will cheat!

So there you have it from my world.. (stay away, it is boring...)
