Posted: 7/5/2008 7:18:48 AM | Yes Chuck I am sure they have real lives and I do understand that, but if you look around a bit there are moderators closing posts because they are redundent, they could at least apologise for the technical difficulties and make people aware that they know what is going on and they are working at getting things up and running again.
For me it does not matter, because I have a real life and have to go to work now.
I was just expressing an opinion. Hope you all get some answers soon. | |

Can I post some facts here with out you getting angry or upset?
1: The staff have real lives away from their computers and are not here to service you or any of us 24/7 ,they volunteer their time which means they are taking time away from their own families in real life and their own interests away from here.
2: From my past experience as a site owner/admin it looks like the server needs a total restart. This sometimes happens.
3: What do you expect for free chopped liver and onions over a lovely sauted' bed mushrooms?
4: Nobody not even the admin is perfect and computer servers and their software are not perfect either by far.
5: Well if all else fails remember that "Sh$t Happens"  | |

If the Mods are doing it I am sure they have their hands full and that post with the link by "oldsoul" says it all as it points to the thread that members need to be reading instead of creating a zillion more threads about the same subject.
I do not expect the Mods to be answering every request by far in this situation due to I know how hard their job is at this point in time. Been there and done that.  | |

Posted: 7/5/2008 7:40:36 AM | | In response to Chuck65201 ok i accept that it was there holiday on the 04/04/08 but that was in the USA only and remember this is a worldwide site did microsoft or google not have staff available for issues like this (ok they are multi national sites and large corporations) but the only two days a year worldwide that would be acceptable is christmas day and boxing day, so i repeat what i said orginally why no response from them even a sorry we are looking into it would be better than silence | |

What did you not understand about the technical explanations I gave in my last posting on this thread? I thought I put it in the most simplest of terms I could but if you like I can break it down so your average third grader who in these days and ages has more computer savy than your average new user has could understand it.
I am not trying to be mean but trying to explain it as simply as I can from a site owner/admin's point of view as I was once a site owner myself.
2: From my past experience as a site owner/admin it looks like the server needs a total restart. This sometimes happens.
This involves having to go into the main server admin/maintenance panel,inputting a code and hit ok and hope it goes correctly. If there was component updates as well involved this can be a pain at times due to if the server is not set up right for continual auto restart(or even if it is) then who ever is in the database center has to run down to where the server is a do a manual restart of said server.
4: Nobody not even the admin is perfect and computer servers and their software are not perfect either by far.
I would place real good money that the Admin/Owner knows what is going on and will be on it asap he can baring he is actually near a computer to be able to get to it. Also if there needs to be a database,MySqul,PHP inquiry done (codes inputted to find actual errors in the databases of software used on a web server) to find the errors if any that takes time as well.

Did a levee break down? A little common courtesy would help by sending a mass email or posting here or something. I promise you.. you say or do something wrong and you will be banned .. so why not tell us what IS going on or do we all jump ship off this boat and go back to paying for a site? OR is POF gonna start charging so they can afford to hire someone to monitor this and keep it up and running? | |

Posted: 7/5/2008 8:02:42 AM | I have done exactly the same and deleted my cookies as suggested and it is still frozen with the same online people and my favourites still appearing in the same order as the have done for the last 24 hours ..... is no one at POF looking into this, it is very annoying!!!

It does not matter if this site is free (no I am not angry) and yes I understand your so intelligent computer explanations the problem is that a simple explanation has not be posted and please do not tell me that it cannot be done! My time and energy that is wasted trying to see if this site is working is 100% more valuable than money!! To me (my opinion which I have a right to express) it does not matter if this is a site you pay for or if it is free a simple explanation is all we want!

Posted: 7/5/2008 8:19:17 AM | Ah criminal mind a fellow Aries I see and yes I do somewhat feel your pain you must feel and the anxiety as well as we Aries are not know for our patients but rest assured dear one this too shall pass in time. It took me a long time to realize I cannot change or have expectations on what others do but I can only have them on myself alone,try to understand how others do feel,help where and when I can and move forward. This is our plight as an Aries is that growing curve to come into our own with out having expectations on others around us and realize in all situations that "this too shall pass"  I just gotta have the love for my fellow Aries in traveling that same road I once traveled myself.  | |
