| Where do you get your inspiration for your creatvity.? Posted: 9/22/2008 3:57:03 PM | Completely self-centered I am, i'm afraid. Have always had an unhealthy admiration for artists who suffer either for their art or use/need their art for their very survival whether that be emotionally, physically, mentally.
Music is so much more precious than a mere form of entertainment to me.
Think: kurt cobain van gogh any early blues players Kenneth Williams pete doherty elliot smith damien rice louie Armstrong Jason pierce...and most of all Ryan Adams!

| Where do you get your inspiration for your creatvity.? Posted: 9/24/2008 2:41:15 PM | Since I'm a nature photographer, I generally just get out there and try to open myself up to what's before me. I revisit areas that have sparked my creativity to try to capture different atmospheres during the seasons or times of day. At other times I'm compelled to explore new areas because I need the spark of new surroundings to stir the creative juices. I'm trying to record the conjunction of light, time and my own emotions, not just objects.
Sometimes I head out to a particular spot with a photograph preconceived. solely in technical terms This can create a sterile, boring, technically competent photograph that receives favorable responses. On other occasions, its created an emotionally rich photo because the process of preconception freed me to explore the emotional nuances because the larger elements were already in place.
Some of my photographs are responses to emotional incidents that took place before the photo was captured. I'll see something that reminds me of a previous emotional state and try to create a photograph that symbolizes that state. Sometimes the objects and environment helped create that emotional state and I came back later to make the photographic record and relive the emotions.
And sometimes its just, "Gee whizz! Looked what crawled into my camera!" | |
