op i think your a shallow gal wanting to tell a guy, any guy in that matter that going bald is something you don't like.

grow up please, because if someone did that to me i would fire back a comment about there not so great features, that i personally don't care about. but make them feel bad about it.

from op's own profile.......

My expectations are friendship, maybe a little innocent flirting, and if the chemistry is there, it's there. I am a fairly realistic person and basically function on two principles: treat others as you would like to be treated - thats usually with courtesy and respect, and always be honest.

* Chemistry
* treat others as you would like to be treated

Op I suggest you take a long hard look at your profile and live by it.
If you are well aware this is bothering the man, why even bring it up in a negitive way?
Why not treat him with the courtesy and respect you would like to be treated with and not judge him on his hairline when that is not WHO he is, WHAT he is or what he is about... If that's the only thing you dislike about him.... then why blow it? or hurt his feelings?

It isn't like he can stop or change his gentics, now picking his teeth in public that's something you could bring to his attention he may not be aware of, or that he could change because you don't like it. Shessh!

Ok, she probably gets the message by now. To those who say, "you wouldn't like it if he pointed out you were fat"-
Fat is contollable with self discipline; losing hair is in most cases, genetically programmed. Big difference.

how insensitive you are; how would you like it if he said, " i dont know how to say this but your butt is pretty flat and flabby; but you look good in a dress; or your breasts are really sagging, but you look great in a push up bra?"

Try to be a little more sensitive;

Tell him to shave the rest off, guys look good that way and just compliment him that way. A lot of times, women can get guys to do things without saying anything, you know what I mean?

Tell him to shave it all off. Bald men are sexy...Look at Sean Connery! He has aged exceptionally well. If you don't like bald men, however, then move on. It will free up your b/f to find someone else, someone that will accept him.

Excellent post from Raphael.

Yes, if you expect the relationship to go anywhere, you should mention that it bothers you. Then, you basically have two choices:
1) get over it.
2) move on.
What might help develop (or repair ) the relationship is:
1a) boost self-esteem.
Only you can decide if you can handle it, and if it's worth it. Good luck!

Holy frag... if I ever begin to loose my hair, I seriously hope whoever I'm with tells me. More importantly, I hope they tell me when it gets to the point where I should just shave it off.

In short NO!

Having being folically challenged myself since my early 20's and having had to put up with stupid baldy comments for the past 20+ years I suggest he will already be only too aware of his predicament.

If you really don't like it then move on, but no way can you ever admit that's it's because of his hair loss as there's nothing he can do about it!!!!

If only we could all be perfect!!!!!

There's nothing you can do about that so let this poor guy go. Hair problem is what it is and if you can't live with someone's appearance as they are then move on

Well, OP, I was going bald in my 20's (eh, mothers side, fathers side - doesn't really matter because then men on *both* sides of my family are bald! )....

... quite honestly, at your age I'll admit that I *was* a lot more self-concious about it than I am now about it - I wouldn't say anything to him because I'm sure its quite obvious to him and what exactly would be the point, other than making yourself look shallow? And you do yourself no favors here by saying him taking his hat off is "like going from a hot 24 y/o to a not so hot 44 y/o" - if your focus is purely on him being "hot" or "not", then do *him* a favor and break up and let him find someone who appreciates him for *who he is* as a person, not purely what he looks like.

Who told him?

I think when the hairdresser started telling me to stop going there, it was my first clue.
I wondered why everyone looked at me strange when I would come in and ask for "A little bit off the top".

I don't get what the big deal is about being bald. It has never bothered me except when I hear women putting guys down for it. What's the big deal? A woman will complain she can't run her fingers through non-existant hair? I just don't get it, maybe I am just not as superfiscial (is that the right word) as most?

I bet there is some fuzz up there somewhere, lets shave those rebellious suckers off right down to the follicle. Maybe they will take a hint and let go.

Why add to his self-esteem issues? If it bothers you that much, perhaps you need to find someone less follicly challenged...but rest assured..not all "head full o'hair" guys are worth the comb they use....

Is he a good man?

Hey girl. im cheryl and this is my advice to you bout your bald guy issue. I fell for a balding guy on here. I like a guy with a hat but would question what was under the hat in my head. But when i found john, my sexy backwards hat wearing hottie, i no longer cared what as under that hat. so if you're questioning his bald head, maybe you should keep looking. Buzz me back if you like. Good luck, Cheryl

No need to tell him. He's apparently already quite self-conscious. If it turns you off and you don't want to date him, no need to be so excruciatingly blunt. Much better to tell him, "I don't really feel the chemistry." It's honest & sends no mixed signals --- and it avoids throwing in his face an issue that's already obviously bothering him a lot. Best of all worlds, don't ya think?!

If he asks for an explanation, tell him, "I'm really sorry you're hurt, but I don't feel comfortable discussing the reasons." Your obligation ends there. His obligation to respect your wishes (regarding you not wanting to see him and regarding keeping your reasons private) have now begun.

I think it would be very rude if you mention this to him.I think he is able to look in the mirror and see this for himself. You will be 44 one day yourself. You will see as you get older you will not look as good as you do today.Mention it if you want to hurt him but otherwise I wouldn't.

And you OP - Eyes_azure_sky, have a somewhat big nose and a very small, almost non existant upper lip . Would it bother you if he bought attention to your man size nose and your lack of upper lip and that he was considering dumping you because of this ?

I mean.... I`m just saying...... We all have our not so perfect features ya know....

Peace

That's the easy way out. Grow a set and have enough respect to tell him exactly why you don't want him. Don't leave him guessing because it is the worst thing you can do to someone. It's very hurtful.

This is coming from a balding man. If you don't want to date me because of it, then by all means tell me. I'll probably won't have anything ever to do with you again as I should, but at least I won't sit there thinking it was something else.

just play this little quote in your head and imagine if he said it to you:

"When we are in bed and I can't see your body you look fine but when you get out from under the sheets I am repulsed by how fat you are"

yeah that plays out well and its exactly the same thing

OMG- just found this thread- funniest thing Ive read in ages. Its like the guy has no idea he is losing his hair...
I think the deal breaker would be- he agrees to wear a hat- you agree to wear a gag
