| What is your opinion on guys wearing sandals?

I wish I would have done what you suggested. I did not start wearing sandals until June...after I went on a week long fishing trip where I wore shoes/socks all week. The tan line really stands out.
Anyway, I am looking to buy these sandals since my other ones are wore out. Do they look ok?

Personally, if I was a sick, megalomaniacal dictator (which I am not) I would have my secret police roaming the streets rounding up all men who go out in public wearing sandals. Posted: 8/29/2008 7:56:49 PM | The most attractive IMO, are Italian-ee leather ones. (they're pricey, though). I like them with shorts or blue jeans on a man. The "sock thing" is very European and most North American women aren't used to it. Looks foreign to them unless you live in a large multi-cultural city where you'll see it more often.
But...I'm an ex-hippy from an era where everyone wore sandals and had long hair. Well, maybe not everyone - just the cool guys. | |

I wonder if a lot of women have the same thoughts. I recently purchased some Teva flip flops and wore them out and about today. At the clothing store, the sales attendant seemed to be going out of her way to get my attention. She greeted me when I walked in and then started doing some work in the aisle that I was headed. A couple minutes later, she went to the other side of the store and I caught her eye-ing me. Then she walked up to me and asked if I needed any help. She smiled during every encounter. Maybe she was just doing her job, but she seemed to overdo it.
At Borders, another attractive girl seemed to be trying to get my attention. We crossed paths a couple of times (I noticed her smiling at me the first time), and then she almost literally ran into me and then smiled again as we crossed paths. Not sure what to make of it but this kinda stuff usually doesn't happen when out and about. The only thing different was I was wearing the flip flops. It can't be the shoes, could it? Do guys look more approachable/relaxed when wearing flip flops? | |

Posted: 8/30/2008 7:56:17 AM | I never really gave this much thought until today. When I was young my stepfather wore sandals with and without socks. I never thought anything about it. My natural father has never been seen wearing sandals. I never thought anything about it. When I was married to my ex I bought him sandals every summer. He wore them with and without socks. I never thought anything about it. He did keep his toe nails trimmed but a pedicure...oh please!!!! Every summer one of us will buy our boys sandals. I cannot recall ever seeing our teenage son wear socks and sandals but then again I never paid attention to it.
It does not make sense to me that a man would want to wear socks and heavy shoes in the summer when there is a cooler option. After all, shorts are acceptable summer wear for men...why not sandals? I would much rather see a man in sandals, shorts, and no shirt than a man in socks, sneakers, shorts, and no shirt.
You should wear what makes you feel comfortable. If you feel comfortable about yourself and what you are wearing, people around you are going to sense that and feel more comfortable with you. | |

All of a sudden there is this tap on my shoulder with this gorgeous guy saying " you mean like this " Craptacular, sure enough he was wearing Birks with wool socks.... My face went 20 shades of red .... And the rest as they say is history..... | |

Sandals are like thongs. Great on women, horrible on men.
I have to agree for the most part. Sandals are fine on the beach but I've seen men wearing them in all seasons, with and without socks. I've also seen men wearing bright orange Crocs, clogs, and flip-flops like they were at the height of fashion. Sorry but something always strikes me as being SO gay about that, like seeing a man in a polo shirt with the collar turned up and a sweater tied around his shoulders. Then again, the gay men I know dress better than that. | |
