Throw the dice a few times and I'll tell you what the answers are.

Use real dice if you can.

Literally, some of America's most famous minds took a while to work it out.

While other people did it in a minute or two.

It's that sort of puzzle.

Got it. A little weird, but it's all in the name.

Some more answers:

----------------------------------------

5 4 5 3 5

The answer is 14

----------------------------------------

6 3 2 6 4

The answer is 2

---------------------------------------

6 4 1 6 6

The answer is zero

----------------------------------------

1 2 3 4 5

The answer is 6

----------------------------------------

I originally saw this mentioned in the biography of a famously clever, living American who also had problems with it.

I couldn't get it either, but I noted it and came back to it briefly every 6 months or so.

After a year or two, I got serious. I actually got out some dice and eventually realized the answer.

Yep, maybe not the sharpest tack in the box but I try to make up with persistence what I lack in smarts.

Ok, a car is driving a bit too fast along a very narrow road that has very poor visibility, bushes, overgrown trees, bends,....you get the idea. The cars headlamps don't work and the street lights are not on, its cloudy and raining, there isn't a full moon and suddenly a dog runs out into the road, the driver manages to brake just in time to avoid the dog.......how did the driver see the dog?

A nice embellishment would be a 'black dog'.

Unusual puzzle form...

Don't think I'd like a hard one of these.

There is a bus with 7 children inside. Each child has 7 bags. Inside each bag there are 7 big cats. Each big cat has 7 small cats. All cats have 4 legs each. How many legs are on the bus?

Ryan is correct...

A snail is at the bottom of a well 30 feet deep. It crawls up 3 feet each day, but at night, it slips down 2 feet. How long does it take for the snail to crawl out the well?
