Ok. My first date would be my last because most people don't appreciate vegetarians right? I'd have to admit it there and then and face the incredulous question; "You don't eat meat!? What's wrong with you?"
Vegetarians aren't weirdos. I'm not!!! I dare anybody to say otherwise.

One vegetarian pizza please, preferably with sun-dried tomato, feta, rocket leaves leaves on a thin crust. Mmmm! Yum!.

Yes, Mr P ^^^^^ like the sound of those.
...., and I love a good vegie pizza too..., no discrimination here.
Some good topping choices IMO...., semi sun dried, tom thumb and yellow currant tomatoes, fetta, pimento and anchovie stuffed olives, almost all seafoods(not shark-unless mildly marinated), shitake mushrooms, some more robust flavored cheeses...., experiment with herbs-aniseed is interesting.
-----------------------------------------------------
Some time ago was at a party in 'Freo', where there was an outdoor kitchen set up with a funky home made (wood fired) pizza oven.
All of the usual pizza ingredients along with many more weird/wonderful other topping choices were laid out in bowls along with a big stack of Lebanese bread(small ones).
There was quite a buzz around re; some of the pizzas coming out of that oven in a surprisingly short space of time. Everyone had the choice to sample a wide variety of pizzas.
Everything was kept organized and orderly by a guy(employed for the evening) with some considerable expertise..., it was quite a hit..., also the bread that were produced by that pizza oven were sensational too.
I've just recently purchased one of those DIY books with sets plans and ideas for outdoor kitchens and wood fired pizza ovens..., and plan on building one myself...., when I finish current building project.
--------------------------------------------
BTW...., Friday arvo, after a couple of Coopers Pales at my local, I went up the road to the Pizza shop.
I overrode that little voice inside my head that was saying "don't go there"...., anyway at that particular "Aussie owned" chain pizza shop, I did actually purchase one of their small and cheap Pizzas.
It turned out nasty too....., as back home and within 10 min of consuming that small pizza....., was farting so bad the dog was giving me the filthiest looks and skulking outside.
Needless to say I will never return to that particular shop.

Now usually I don't mind a good dry fart(away from civilized/polite society), and I'll admit the sound can still make me laugh(hell maybe I'm easily amused)...., so I clearly heard the "inner voice" that night
....., and it was clearly saying....., "Not happy Sandy!"

Best to make your own pizzas using quality ingredients ! ......, as in life of course.

^^^^^ i think that might be the crux of it sandy! some folks ideal pizza could be a euphemism for what they are seeking in an ideal partner! maybe i,m reading too much into it, but if u cant accept another persons taste as one of those idiosyncrasies, what hope have u got of accepting a new person into ur life??? if they turn their nose up at ur taste in food, there is a fair chance that u wont strike agreement on a lot of stuff! its all well+ good to say opposites attract but u still need to strike common ground bout most subjects or else u are dead+ buried! correct me if i,m wrong! jeez, drinking bourbon turns me into dr phil!! lol

all this talk about pizzas... I could sure go one now..

sigh... alas .. dammit.. they don't deliver anywhere near my place.... I can see the glow of the edge of town across the valley... the pizza shop would be contributing to that glow....

I know it's there.... and know if I drive down to get one it will be eaten in the car trip home.. and all I'll bring home is the empty box.... or a cold soggy one if I resist the temptation to leave the contents of the box unmolested in the dark cabin of the ute on the dirt road.... or an undignified dinner outside a suburban pizza joint, or AT a suburban pizza take way .. whether on a park bench, off the bonnet of the car... or perched somewhere in the cement landscape provided....

not the same as enjoying a pizza at home at the table.... with a friend...

sharing a common meal off the same plate looking into eachothers eyes is a better "ice breaker" than sitting across a table staring through all the cutlery, candles, and other inedible stuff between you... listening to the hushed clinking of other cutlery around the room ....

once you both start grabbing for the same piece of pizza and laughing it off.. you soon forget the other people in the room... and the fact you have tomato sauce over your fingers... and perhaps down the front of your shirts....

i wouldnt of gotten into a stoush over a mundane topic.. would of just rolled my eyes.. quipped 'more for me then' and ignored him for the rest of the night like he didnt exist. for him to make such a comment probably meant he really wanted to annoy u.. and well seems he won.

as for toppings.. i do vary but a fav of mine is 'chicken, bacon, mushroom and anchovies'

i worked for a few years while at uni making pizzas.. and i used to make this pizza before work that most ppl were like eww at thought but everyone loved it ..

garlic pizza, thin base, small amount of garlic, anchovies but cut finely so not too strong a taste.. lots of fetta and parma cheese on top. mmmmmmmmmmmmm was awesome.

dont mind also, fresh tomato, fresh basil, onion, garlic and rock salt with tiniest amount of cheese to hold together.

And what toppings do you prefer?

A couple of months ago I got sucked into trying one of those Greek style pizzas

I know... I know... *hangs head in shame*

WTF was that even about? What was I thinkin?
I cant explain WHY I did it either...

I mean... Im Ukrainian... Im a Chef... and I dont need to eat a cabbage roll pizza to know its just wrong on so many levels.

I mean I LOVE spinach and fetta and lamb... but ....
Never again will I deviate from the either the pizza with the lot (including anchovies cos I want it ALL baby)... OR the vegetarian but ONLY with red capsicum ...and salami

Greek pizza.. pffft... its like ordering risotto at Chinese

It was a bad bad decision.

This is something I have not given much thought to - but it's a good question. I think what's key on a first date is to be pretty easy going about toppings. For example, if a guy I was out with said he didn't want anchovies then fine. (I like them, but that's cool)

But....if he smiled at the waitress and said "Okay. This is what I want. Okay. No basil unless it's fresh. Extra garlic but only if it's fresh - ham diced please - not sliced - and where is your mozzerella from?." and so on, then I would be very suspicious about how pendantic about other things in life he might be.

If he complained big time about the pizza toppings it would be a huge turn-off. And if he insisted on going INTO the kitchen to check on how the pizza was made, it would absolutely be a turn-off.

Kyn - I agree. I've actually had the Satay Chicken Pizza and I don't even believe that chicken should be on a pizza. It all just happened so fast..................plus starvation is a valid reason I believe.
