Posted: 9/6/2008 12:18:27 PM | Steve - The party posting seems to state that the host printed the signup list at 10pm on Monday, September 1st as the 115 was reached. People on that list at that time are the original 115 signups and are definitely good to go. Everyone who signed up after that time are the waitlisted people. I'm sure he will have the list at the door at Bakers this evening. Hopefully you know whether you were signed up prior to 10 pm on Monday, September 1st or not.

Posted: 9/6/2008 12:43:26 PM | Patty, you are correct. Anyone who signed up before the cut off date (posted as 090308, or 090108?) is counted. We are also aware that there are probable no shows on the original list, but we are still over capacity, even taking that into account. It has always been acceptable for POF'ers to bring guests to any party. If a early-sign POF'er stated that they would be bringing guests, that had to be figured into the head count as well.
I know us POF'ers are not used to this rigidity. However, the venue made a deal with the BBBad one about how much lounge seating was guaranteed, and he is trying like heck to keep within their agreement.
Our host did not really realize that this party would take off the way it did.
When a party is overcrowded, the NEXT day there is nothing but complaints about lack of seating, lack of waitresses......and Jeff is working overtime to avoid this.
I know that us POF'ers have had things pretty much our own way.....we sign up, don't show up......sign up at the last minute......show up without signing up at all......and it has always been a headache for the host and the venue. 
I get the impression that some are going to do what they want, despite any warnings......and it will be too bad if this venue shuts us down because of the crowd, and that some people feel that the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many. (Do I watch Star Trek? YES!)
Because, as I said, the venue has been 'stung' before by supposed 'huge' gatherings, they were reluctant to offer more seating than we have. We are gonna show them that POF is different from other groups, and if 'we build it, they will come'. The next time, they might be more willing to open the banquet area to accomodate us......at this time, they are not.
BBBad and I will be on our way shortly to the venue.....where we TRULY hope for the best from our membership. All concerned will have a great time, as usual. However, the reserved seating for the lounge area will be closely monitored to make sure that the original signees have priority.
And, the fact that another local area singles group thought it would be 'OK' to bring 20 extra people to OUR party and glom on, is totally unacceptable, and Jeff has notified them of this, repeatedly.
Jeff DOES have a list of who is expected.....and we will be using that list for the reserved lounge area, as there will be greeters at the door with the list at hand. | |

It was fun to help out and get introduced to the POF party goers. Again Thanks to everyone and it was nice to meet you all.  Can't wait for the next one. Count me in to help anytime. ....Sorry I had to leave early but I was on call to work early on Sunday Morning with a 4:30 am alarm set to go off. Again thanks. Always great to see Motown Maniax in attendance.......and all my best buddies, too......thanks to all who participated in the meet and greet.....even though it was kinda hurried for seating capacity concerns.......sorry.....
We had a whole room of US!
The only downside was the band.....but the interim music was great! Even the band didn't discourage us party POF'ers..........
It was a great, mingling, swinging, singling event! Hats off to the BBBad one for pulling this off....and his daughter, the CUTEST lady there!
The venue loves us to death and wants us back!
Going to take my aching feet to bed now..... from your co-hostesss | |
