| cookie jar Posted: 8/9/2008 11:38:47 AM | been reading a lot today. this place is amazing. so grateful for the suggestion. i've dropped a few things off here and there. might repost some here this week. for the moment, a little reflection from this morning.
this house
the vents are always open here keeps the air breathable cluttered unkempt like an unswept sidewalk or a boggy forest but, it's got a roof and there's nowhere else to go but out hardly worth not accepting this house
|
| cookie jar Posted: 8/11/2008 9:16:28 AM | the view out the window is of a sky the clearest shade of blue an oak tree or two blowing in a breeze that's here to spread the word that fall is just around the corner time to settle down settle in and enjoy the view from the inside soon as the mood flips and vitamin D slips from our fingers summertime dreams linger but vegetable soup sounds nice
(my first of the morning'...on my first cup of joe...wanted to at least drop in and say "hey"
...so I hope your weekend went well...... ...i gotta go "wake up"...but those were my thoughts sittin here at this desk enjoying the outside view)

been wondering and that can lead to trouble synapse lapse crackle, cackle laugh it off
scaling mountains of bucks passed around hot potatoes catching glimpses -through the steam- of the real
finally off, like a prom dress down to steal a moment with the leaves that tease me all day can't help but wonder

| cookie jar Posted: 8/16/2008 10:33:47 AM | Hello. I like alot of what you have written. It makes me feel like im a kindergarten child sitting in front of a play and a woman is singing a long sonnet about any and everything and as the child im just eating it up smiling. :) I dont know if you have ever thought of song writing, but maybe you should look into it. | |

truth is
you say that you are a seeker of the truth observing, book worming, tryin' to find proof but look at the sky. admire it then tell me why we always seem to miss the point
~ you say you want the truth but, the truth ain't up to you and the sad fact is the truth ain't what you want your world is built on lies, a synthetic paradise and the sad fact is the truth is far from what we've got
gazing from the window of the lecture hall before me there's nothin' but another wall the sky is obscured by your solid, concrete world but, the truth is there always will be doubt* ~ you say that you are a keeper of the truth subverting, perverting, making all the rules i think its absurd. we've lost our place in the natural world and the truth is we've got to find that out ~
dol - april 2005 * want proof? see Kurt Godel's "Incompleteness Theorem" LOL

castles
everyday i wake and find i'm a little less scared every night i lie awake, believing the world's mine to take oblivion... completion... all or nothing in a blink does it matter either way? my kingdom's comin' any day
and each time i close my eyes i spy the crown i'll wear it's image guiding me right through the darkenss i've been clingin' to addiction... restriction... is that christ or satan whispering doesn't matter either way, my kingdom's comin' any day
buildin' castles... from chunks of me oh yes, castles... and i'm plantin' seeds sewin' seeds... in the garden of my being ... in the garden of my freedom
every time i feel it here, tomorrow dissapears yesterday's a hankerin' defeated by the pamperin' obsession... indifference... i bear all and it covers me doesn't matter either way, this garden's growing everyday
building castles... growing gardens... building castles... my kingdom is at hand

made a little edit there would love to hear what y'all think

| cookie jar Posted: 8/17/2008 11:34:58 PM | some little haiku meanderings of my own (comin from the haiku thread...so some of the first lines were "borrowed")...hope this post finds you havin' a good day, my friend
down the back alley where the shadows are at home and the light is scared
gone and led astray like the cats along the way dancing in shadows
sneaking up on you streetlamps exposing the shapes creatures of the night
now sharing brain waves and food from the dumpsters of the city's cafe's
truth is there between the light and the dark creating a spark
|
| cookie jar Posted: 8/18/2008 6:14:25 PM | hey ash, good to see you thanks for the ku - love the form... simple and restrained yet, more often than not, poignant shared lines are glorious things... two bangs (sometimes 3) for a buck!
had a fine day today hope you did as well
got this thing in my head... been spinning around since the wee hour of the morning... don't quite know what to make of it yet
context
an apple isn't much good in the crisper
doesn't bathe your palate in its soft sweetness won't clean your teeth can't nourish your cells
nope an apple ain't worth much at all 'til it's devoured
|
| cookie jar Posted: 8/19/2008 6:17:44 PM | megalomania
imagine what would it be like to know deep in your core in each trembling fiber of your person that you were to be "great"
would you be afraid awash in false humility driven to stand out in the crowd a deer caught in the headlights
do you think that you could shake it like a rock star with a needle an artist with a shotgun a poet with an oven
an ostrich with its head in the sand still has its ass in the air ---
the words like to start rolling around in my head while i'm too occupied to stop and write - i was walking through the park, conversing with my son when this started... feels kinda garbled... not quite where i thought it was going :s
|
| cookie jar Posted: 8/20/2008 7:05:38 PM | a little something i scratched out as i walked to a meeting this evening...
did you catch that shine today? rode its big balloon all the way down the paper rapids sure, that one descent was pretty steep gave that little girl quite a start but, she was just as soon distracted by the lack of clouds in the sky as she wafted by

myriad colours signals cues there is always another line between the lines
does it mean something if your solar is blue and your brow is brown?

could y'all please just get back in line

| cookie jar Posted: 8/23/2008 5:00:30 AM | a couple of notes on last night's posts...
#39 was born in the first hour of consciousness... sat with me all day... then a stream of titles came started with chicken... mutated into rationalization... think irrationalization may be better
#40 came too quickly... couldn't get to the pen fast enough... would have preferred a keyboard for it... another pure thought evolved into a lament... think i might want to loose the last stanza.
really interested in feedback... constructive criticism... discussion of the process...
would love to hear from you!
|
| cookie jar Posted: 8/23/2008 8:07:52 AM | I'v mentioned some points. I like "this house", especially its quiet reflective quality. the first fifth and sixth lines... the way you tied (nature) to "house", also... I think the "unswept sidewalk" works well in the theme, too. | |
|
| cookie jar Posted: 8/23/2008 11:38:23 AM | thanks for that om! its lovely to hear what i'm doing well (though i am most curious about the comment on choice of words). i truly appreciate your input and encouragement.
i believed in my pen and i never feared the perception of others it was something to revel in
we would sit swapping journals sharing ink guiding each other through the heat
now i scratch out pure thought blurry shapshots oft with no reflection left in a vacuum
"those were the best days" sure they were but it doesn't mean they can't be topped
time to go gather more life
everyone, have a beautiful weekend!

| cookie jar Posted: 8/25/2008 7:26:56 PM | spurred on by a brilliant discussion of spirituality that began today in my dear, kind, talented friend ash's thread: "crayons dipped in phoenix fire", i am compelled to post the following bit of prose.
Monday, October 17, 2005 Why fundamentalists miss the point (or how to miss the forest for the trees). Current mood: thoughtful
ah... pen in hand still works best... pondered between 12:30 and 1:30pm while grocery shopping... written in yard from then until 2pm...
Before I begin, I feel it necessary to remind the reader that I was raised catholic, and have siblings who have crossed Christian boundaries into other sects of the religion. It is interesting to note that, those in my life who have remained catholic tend to be the most open minded of the bunch. I attribute this to their willingness to remain in a system that they are AWARE is flawed; understanding that all human structures have faults. “ Better the devil you know than the one you don’t!” Not a sentiment I share, but a prevalent one.
Now then, on to fundamentalism...
I had an honest conversation this morning with a Bible Christian who happens to be very dear to my heart. I related details of my recent joys and sorrows to her, hoping that she might appreciate my sharing. Unfortunately, due to the spiritual nature of some of my current experiences, we stumbled, once again, on the topic of “TRUTH”
For this woman, there is only one truth, Christ, via The Holy Bible. I understand and respect that. I love her without condition... well, that isn’t completely accurate... and the same is true of Christ... respect and love are mutual, shared. If not, there is a conflict, but that does not mean that love and truth are cut off... just strained.
She said to me, “’I am the way, the truth, and the life.’ Christ’s words. That’s enough for me.”
I wish I had responded: “Ah, but did Christ not acknowledge His truth in other cultures through the parable of the Good Samaritan? Did Christ not show us His ultimate truth, ‘love thy brother’, by illustrating that TRUTH in the actions of one of another faith? Did the Samaritan not LOVE and ACCEPT, the unknown Hebrew as his own brother? Did Christ not, in this very story, tell us that His LIFE and TRUTH could be found in the hearts of all men?
Yes, Christ is “THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE”... but not exclusively... by His own admission.

the vents are always open here keeps the air breathable cluttered unkempt like an unswept sidewalk or a boggy forest but, it's got a roof oodles of characters a unique charm and - really - there's nowhere else to go but out best to just settle in make this house home
