Do we need to stoop to her level?

Apparently plenty of folks do. To the person that said she hopes the cancer is painful I ask, what does that accomplish? Would the extra pain she feels bring back the Tates, lessen the damage that has been done, or in any way accomplish anything at all? Given that said extra pain you wish for her would accomplish absolutely nothing, how and why does wishing her more suffering make you feel better and why, and what, if anything, do you think that says about you?

I would support her execution for her crimes, BTW.

Do we need to stoop to her level? Or do we rise above it and set the example?

Stoop to her level?Forensic evidence indicated that the murders were brutal. Just prior to leaving the residence, Atkins wrote "Pig" on the front door in Sharon Tate's blood.Yep giving her 3 squares a day and free medical treatment is stooping to her level.

I see a big difference between smearing someone Else's blood on the wall and denying a person a release based on a medical condition.

The same thing she put Ms. Tate through. Suffering. And I think they should stoop to her level for violent offenders.

Now that we have DNA testing for various reasons and we can get a 99.9 percent truth about who murdered who , I would say that the death penalty should be a mandatory thing for murderers . Why have we paid taxes to keepthis woman in jail , clothed, fed and entertained for 40 years ? Were they absolutely sure she did it ? if they are she should have joined sharon tate in Valhalla. I mean the same as Charlie , The guy was obviously a few evil deeds short of president of hell yet we also paid to keep him alive ? why ? jeffery dalmer ate people ? and we keep him alive and comfortable ? what's wrong with this picture?

Let's not forget..Charlie wasn't there. He never killed anyone. A lot of people forget that. But, he certainly did deserve what he got and more for ordering those deaths. There was more than one! The La Bianca couple, as an example.

So...there are some who feel that "no mercy, but" increased suffering" is the order of the day. Interesting....

To those who would stoop to her level...I can feel for you. Your limitless compassion touches me deeply. Oh, yeah...you "reserve" your compassion for victims only. Riiiiight...I forgot...sorry.

Do I believe that if it is a case of "without a doubt" we should put murderers straight into a death sentance, no appeals for years, etc, etc? Yep..I do. With the DNA and some self-confessed ones sure...get rid of them quick!
We can't be "absolutly" sure in all cases...so a life sentence could suffice...but some cases are just made for getting rid of the perpetrators real fast!

Did anyone ever think that maybe it would be far worse for her to only taste life that she could of had, and lost? Isn't that cruelty enough?

STOP HR 362-I almost spewed Dr. Pepper all over my keyboard when I read that...Dahmer has been DEAD for some years now He was raped to death with a mop handle...until he bled out while lying on a bathroom floor. The inmate who did it got a reduced sentence and free cigarettes for life Yay Marlboro!

At least the inmates sometimes do Justice when the courts and liberals are too pansy. Let's face it, we have been weak on criminals, and the violent crime rates have shown that criminals don't even CARE what laws you pass, they're still going to be crooks because they know we're to weak to really make punishment PUNATIVE!

Valhalla is for warriors who have died well. If you are going to speak about a religion, at least get their version of heaven right.

I'm all for more prison violence...it saves us taxpayers LOTS of money on keeping them locked up and in appeals. If I were a warden I'd be trying to institute the "Running Man"...or at least some decent Gladatorial games.

No, I also feel compassion for their families and the taxpayers who have been forced to pay the medical bills of this evil doers.

She has already had that. Now its time to let her suffer with her illness.

I somehow knew I shouldn't have posted to this thread ? i was gonna post then I stopped then I did and now I regret it. I'm Finnish, Valhalla does not discriminate ! If it did 80 percent of the viking murderers would have never been allowed in !used as a reference I'm not religious.

There's this idea floating around that there's something wrong with wanting revenge. What exactly is wrong with that ? Oh, the people that believe it's wrong to want revenge have all kinds of little quotes and light philosophy to fall back on but really, I have no problem admitting that I want to see this lady suffer as much as possible and the only reason I want her to is so that she experiences just a taste of what she put so many others through. Of course, invariably somebody will ask "What would that accomplish ?". It would make me feel good to see her suffer , that's what. For that matter, it would make a lot of people feel good to see this lady suffer for what she did.

Naturally, somebody will quote parts of this post and comment on what monstrous thinking it is. That's hypocritical though. See, the opposing argument is built on the same foundation as my own. Some people want this lady to suffer as little as possible so that they can feel good about doing a good deed (I guess that's the idea anyway) My argument is no different actually but encompasses a broader range of human emotion in fact. In neither case is anything tangible accomplished ...it's all about how we feel. Well, I feel no shame in simply saying exactly what I hope happens to this lady whether it's politically incorrect or not. I'm not going to couche it in ambiguous terminology and open questions either. I want this lady to suffer so that we, as a society, can get revenge on her. I figure it's karmic justice whether some people consider it civilized thinking or not.

So let her rot in prison.

She already got her compassion when she was not given death sentence if Cali had it. If not she got 3 hots and a cot. But I do not wish her anything bad or wish her pain on anyone. Now if I was a tate maybe I would feel much different.

IMO, life in prison is the appropriate level of punishment for the crime here. I realize she obviously does not want to literally "die in prison", but many others have had to who have not committed anywhere near as heinous of crimes. This is her fate. Her fate was sealed essentially when she first met Manson. She will now (not very long from now, from the sound of it) die in prison, after having lived there for 40 yrs -- most of her life -- and thus finish paying the necessary price for the grotesque crime spree she and her comrades participated in when they were young.

It's a waste of life all around, not only for the victims who died violently and far too young (obviously) -- including the nearly ready to be born baby inside Tate -- but also for all of the participants in the crimes because they too threw their lives away on the nights of the murders.

You know, I just remembered this. I saw a 20/20 or Dateline or some show recently that they are/were investigating that old ranch with cadaver dogs, as new evidence suggests that there may be extra bodies out there. Some people that went to the ranch and never came home...a lot of them hitchikers or runaways, all presumed kidnapped or dead. I wonder why it took them 30 yrs to find this evidence? Maybe Susan confessed when she was diagnosed terminal. I haven't seen a follow up on it yet though, maybe someone else knows more about what's happened.

Simma, I think that was down to one cop and his dog, whose skills he decided to test out at Barker Ranch on the assumption that there were still bodies out there. Even back in the period when the trials were taking place it was often said that Manson and his people had killed a lot of people whose remains hadn't been found. I remember one story about a ranch hand (Shorty something?) who a family member said Manson had cut up into seven pieces and buried around one of the ranches (Barker or Spawn, I can't remember). But I would bet that if Susan Atkins were hoping for release, the last thing she'd want is more evidence of MORE killings that she might have been involved in.

A number of these people have "found God" apparently (which I don't find very comforting since they once all thought that Manson himself was Jesus Christ). Charles Watson and Bobby Beausoleil both have big websites devoted to their faith, etc., and there's a significant campaign, I think, to get Beausoleil released (I can't imagine that happening though). He wasn't involved with the Tate or La Bianca murders and was already sentenced to death for a different Manson-related murder before the Tate thing (Atkins was with him on that one too)--a Gary something or other. Beausoleil's apparently an accomplished musician and has recorded from prison...got married in prison too.

These people are, for some twisted reason, endlessly fascinating to me. I read Vincent Bugliosi's Helter Skelter when I was probably too young to do so, and had periodic nightmares for years of being chased by the "family." eeek. The lot of them freak me out and even though most of them (esp the women)were terribly young (much younger than Manson) when they committed their crimes, I don't think these are people who should ever be released from prison. The Linda Kasabian story (the family member turned state's evidence) by itself is enough, IMO, to show that it WAS possible to resist his influence however messianic he seemed to be. Although as I recall a number of other family members also fled the family once they realized that Manson was intent on actually killing people.

Normally I'm big on compassion.

But not in this case.

I feel the same way - I just don't see how people think it's fair to let an animal like that free....actually, less than an animal and more of a monster, an old, sickly, withering monster who should(I guess) get health care but never be free as long as it lives.

Thanks, nomadic, I wasn't quite sure what prompted the new search. I read that book when I was young too, like 12 I think, and eesh....all they have to do is show the outside of the house the Tate murders happened in and I'm freaked all over again. I cannot imagine what kinds of things were going through their minds on a daily basis, let alone when they were committing these unimaginable acts.

I'm glad they said no. I'm not quite sure what would really make her life so different if they let her out now anyway...sounds like she'll spend the rest of it in a hospital bed no matter what. I'm sure they'll let her family/husband be near enough in the very late days.

abitnomadic, yes those two do have their own sites.......... disturbing phenomenon in and of itself IMO, along with all of the "pop culture references" one can find glibly referring to these people in various ways.

Trent Reznor, of NIN, was the last person to live in the actual Cielo Drive mansion (the Polanski/Tate house), in the mid-90's, and he called his studio (located IN the house) "le PIG".... obviously after what was scrawled on one of the walls in blood. That's terrible , IMO. Led me to throw out an old NIN CD I actually had in fact. He eventually felt bad about it though I guess after talking to a victim's sister or mother or something like that and moved out.

The new owner is a producer who razed the original Polanski / Tate house and built a new one, even slightly changing the address. Still a lot of "bad vibes" on that ground though, IMO...I'd not really live there I don't think. Marilyn Manson and other dark metal or alternative type groups (or whatever genre they are) used to like to include edits and clips of Manson family members speaking and that sort of thing. The nihilistic and eerie (IMO) horror film "The Strangers" , starring Liv Tyler, is supposedly loosely based on the actions of the Manson family killers as well.

Watson and Beausoleil are quite the Christians nowadays I guess...."born again" and involved in prison ministry and so forth. Whatever.... bearing in mind of course that Watson was perhaps the most vicious killer of them all, shooting the first two victims right away (the kid outside in the car, and then Tate's hairstylist friend in the house when he tried to defend Tate), and then putting the rope around Tate's neck and leaving Atkins with her. And Pat Krenwinkel, the lunatic who killed the Folger heiress at the Tate house and then the next night savagely stabbed the LaBiancas and left a meat fork hanging out of Mr.LaBianca, is supposedly a model prisoner who even helps train helper dogs for the disabled. I still can't, and couldn't certainly if I were a victim's relative, "forgive".

When I think about Atkins now wanting compassion I can't help but think about what she stated she said to Tate, "I have no mercy for you. You're going to die; get used to it." She also stated she killed Tate of her own volition simply because she was "sick of" hearing the begging and pleading. She at various times has confirmed and then denied again drinking some of Tate's blood while writing PIG on the wall with a blood-soaked towel. Sharon Tate died very badly, that's for sure.

And Watson the Christian proceeded the next night to go and assist (or actually more like lead) in the brutal butchering of two more randomly selected people (the LaBiancas). I'm usually quite Left'ish, as most know who see me post on here. But my compassion runs out for people like this. Indeed we don't even see any Hollywood stars (many of whom knew Tate and Polanski) lobbying for "compassion" in this case. These people can all die in prison; "life without" is the appropriate level of punishment, IMO.

You are so right! I watched the parole hearing and I'm still so amazed at why convicts think that finding JESUS is a reason to be parolled. Seems they all find JESUS in prison but when they get out, they forget and go back again....sad, sad, sad!! Anyway, it's over now, she will die there and that's what she deserves.
