Perhaps they have their preferences (everyone does) and you just don't fit who they are looking for.
I didn't read ALL of the posts, but some, but that's what I'd think OP.

not interested means not interested. I realize for a lot of men on this site (not all)...this is a hard concept to grasp

I'm really sick and tired of putting all this energy into messaging girls with a profile I'm particularly interested in, just to have it ignored. ESPECIALLY when the girl's ENTIRE profile says, "Really, just message me!" or "If you want to know anything more, just message me!" or "I really wish SOMEONE would message me!"
Its call false advertisement. Yeah i guess women do that too unfortunately. | |

There has been quite of number of threads with this subject. POF is about as hopeless as finding a flea on Bigfoot.
I've had the pleasure of reading some truly excellent profiles, communicating as well as looking at the photos of some beautiful women. However, I have discovered that this site carries an enormous amount of arrogant women, who are on this site to have their egoes stroked and complain about why men are continuing to hit on them, after they "Refuse". Like the man said..put a block on the guy if it persist? IF you do not like to recieve proposals from candidates, simply get off the site. But because it is free, this is what we get.
This is a dating site, where one maybe lucky to find the other. Why not use this as it is intended. ......?
Having had the unfortunate pleasure of rejecting someones offer, isn't a pleasant thing to do, at least not for me. It is somewhat humbling and apprehensive to get yourself out there on the net, only to be rejected because of simple things like spelling, or if the picture isn't the best.. Maybe there isn't an attraction, But don't we all evaluate that by a picture without actually meeting? What does the term "Physical attraction mean to you women"? I have certainly been shot down quite a number of times. So I know what it feels like. You just get use to it. | |

Guess what? women get just as frustrated with men on this site. There is nothing about ego stroking going on here. Problem is the guys who hit on us, don't bother to even read our profiles, so for me they don't come anywhere close to what I am looking for. Or they sent lame emails that cause us to hit ''block'' not "reply''

I'll agree. But unfortunately there is an assumption that EVERY guy is like that.
Case in point: I met a women...she is beautiful, very smart and has her stuff together. We met, I texted her (one message) a few days later, then I called her a day or two afterwards (one call)... I didn't hear from her, so I left it at that. A week later, she emailed me stated that since she met me, she has hope in the dating site and meeting someone..why...probably because I didn't hound her. Yeah we exchanged numbers, but I'm not going to hover over my phone hoping that she'll call...

Look:
- I've met women that didn't give me the time of day on the site.
- I've met women that just called and ditched me shortly afterwards.
- I've met women, gone on first dates, and never saw them again.
- I met *one* woman who I had a LTR from this site.
- I've met a couple of women on this site where I called off the whole thing since I'm just not ready to date again.
The point is that there are a variety of women on this site; no need for the generalizations. | |

I am new to PoF and am just starting to get the read then delete treatment, wasn't sure what to think of it. I was figuring that ladies would at least have the inclination to message me with a "Thanks, but not interested, best of luck" type of thing, as it is what I will do. But its just not the case. Ignore and move on I guess is the way of things. | |

Do you remember posting this? Do you reply to every would-be candidate? After all, your reply states that it you don't have to put much energy into it, just a few sentences.... | |

I would prefer more "Deleted". When it's just "Read" for two weeks with no response and they leave you waiting, it's irritating.
Empty sent box then. If you do not see if she read or delete, it will not bother you. Also consider not takeing this site so seriously. It should be fun not the only factor of finding a partner. You should not be wait for one person for two week. | |

Ah, but if you knew me, you'd know it would bother me more.  Besides, why don't they empty theirs?
Also consider not takeing this site so seriously. It should be fun not the only factor of finding a partner. You should not be wait for one person for two week.
Not much to do here that's "fun", other than be a forum troll.  I exaggerated a bit on the two weeks, but it's not a matter of taking the site seriously. It's just me using the site for what it's intended, and since I consider it a bit disingenuous to tell someone I'm interested in them and then move on to the next profile 2 seconds later (omg such interest!), I tend to wait at least a few days after I see "Read". It's just polite manners in my opinion.
The "Read but not Deleted" thing doesn't keep me up at night or anything, I was just throwing it out there. :) I wish I could get a response to each email for better or for worse, but I understand why women treat emails the way they do. We men can be real arseholes sometimes.  | |
