| Posting pics with guys in 'em Posted: 7/18/2008 2:52:11 PM | | I think this is referring to the photos question. The entitlement to ask comes from the posting them on a public forum where one wishes to meet a potential date. | |

| What's up with this... Posted: 7/18/2008 2:56:54 PM | "given the frustrated, potentially damaged disposition of the female POF audience" Yuk! That's not very nice. | |

Yuk! That's not very nice.
try reading a few dozen of the female profiles, many of them are quite fond of openly expressing their frustrations with men
"i don't want a player" "don't be too nice, i hate that!!" "no games!" "i just want a normal guy, wtf?!??!" "I HATE liars!!" "I just want someone who accepts me for who am I!!"
if that's not baggage what is?
|
| What's up with this... Posted: 7/18/2008 7:45:17 PM | "I just want someone who accepts me for who am I!!" Is see that in a lot of profiles -- makes you wonder who they really are and what it is about them that is so wrong that they have been rejected because of it... eeek!
The same goes for people wanting someone who is "open minded." I start thinking that means the person has some sort of scary/unsanitary fetish they wish to introduce you to.

****!!! Is that just a guess, or is that seriously what comes to mind? I really didn't want people to know that soon.

| What's up with this... Posted: 7/18/2008 8:25:25 PM | Heehee, yes, that's what comes to my mind. I think because my ex said that and turns out he had a major-major pot problem and was a big-time control freak -- I mean nothing could be out of place or he'd lose his mind. He was a high paid exec who could have lost his job had they found out about his smoking habit.
Thing is, many times people who say they want someone who is open-minded, are not that way themselves. They want YOU to be open-minded to their ways, but you have to conform.

| What's up with this... Posted: 7/18/2008 8:29:43 PM | | I personally don't see the appeal in it. If I had an easy time finding women in bikinis to hang out with, I wouldn't be here. Or maybe the guy thinks that by putting the pictures here, the women will think that's what he always gets... i dunno. | |

if I posted a photo of me with a couple of hard-bodied hunks, I think it would scare most guys off (granted, in some cases that might be a good thing) because they'd think that these were ex's or possibly what I am accustomed to (Oh, I wish! Not really. Most guys would simply see that this stall is occupied, and not go there.
|
| What's up with this... Posted: 7/20/2008 6:28:38 PM | If done on purpose, I think they're probably targeting the younger female audience. (a) It shows 'I can party', 'I have fun', 'I hang out with the attractive *in* crowd'. (b) Younger women especially can be very competitive with other gals and jealous, and they'll want a guy more when he's liked by other women, especially of the very attractive variety. | |
|
| What's up with this... Posted: 7/20/2008 8:59:44 PM | | It's the same reason some women like to post pics with other guys. They are saying "you must be at least this hot to be with me" or they are demonstrating that the opposite sex can stand them. Even if it's just a friend or a relative it's a bad idea to pose with the opposite sex. Some people don't read the captions. Close male/female friends are also questionable. | |

| What's up with this... Posted: 7/20/2008 10:00:48 PM | Girls do the exact same thing. Guys, babies, or sometimes other women touching them in a bar.
The remaining women use either photos taken with a cell phone via a mirror, or wedding and graduation photos.
I think it has to do with what photographs they have available.

You may be correct, but we'd tell ourselves we were avoiding you because you were "shallow" and "lookist".

| What's up with this... Posted: 7/20/2008 11:35:23 PM | I agree totally; its almost like telling everyone,"I'm so insecure in myself I'm going to show you all that tons of women want me; that way you will want me".
It shows a lack of class too. Not into it.

^^^^^^you may be correct. another reason might be to let people know not to bother if they don't measure up to the cuties in the photographs. in that sense, it's an effective weed out mechanism.

Maybe... but is there really anything wrong with playing the game?

| What's up with this... Posted: 7/21/2008 8:05:37 AM | OP,
I wouldn't worry to much about that it's all an ego thing as you said.
But you do bring up a good point about pictures that people post in general. what's up with pictures that have you and your friends in it? I find it irritating when somebody just posts pictures of themselves with their friends and they don't indicate which one they are in the pic!
|
| What's up with this... Posted: 7/21/2008 8:30:03 AM | | Okay, maybe it's just me, not that I have pictures with beautiful half naked ladies (I'm already in trouble here)(beautiful, but not half naked), but the only pictures of have of just myself are my driver's license and passport photo-and if I posted those-well it wouldn't be pretty. | |
|
| What's up with this... Posted: 7/21/2008 9:16:54 AM | men are weird! they think they know how women's mines work.
Umm, I think it's "mind" and your not even blonde

| What's up with this... Posted: 7/21/2008 9:37:55 AM | Re the Opost:
"...OK guys, tell me -- what's up with posting photos of oneself with hot half naked chicks? Do the guys who do that think that we women will be impressed? ..."
I totally agree with the Opost! That is why I post half naked photos of me, not women!
But other POFers have issues with this as well! lol Can't win!
|
| What's up with this... Posted: 7/21/2008 10:16:56 AM | Here's the scoop as I see it.
The guy is advertising he's wanted by hot looking chicks. Never mind the "chicks" in the pics are his sister and her best friend or "Miller girls" that all they do is pose with guys who want a pic.
It's a dumb move which gives you insight into how bright the man is.
