love is i difficult enotion.there are many levels of love and it is not like feeling sad or happy.it is not an everday emotion(the romantic form anyway). not only that you can be emmensly in love with someone you are not sure fits into your future. with love comes a change of life style you just might not think you are prepared for.

Is this person refraining from using the word 'love' because it may be too soon?

In all my experiences, telling a woman that you're in love with them is about the most surefire way to freak them out and make them uncomfortable. Time is not a factor.

Of course, my experiences are, seemingly, not the norm. I have not yet encountered someone who loves me and wants me to love them in return.

.....This is so true.
I'm lucky in that my man can relate to me not being 'available' when he so desires as he knows I have family commitments and understands where I am at. Change of lifestyle? Yes for sure. I never thought I would be travelling overseas next year with him, but I am going to New Zealand! Suddenly I find myself applying for leave from work something which I have NEVER done as I never felt the 'need' to take time out.
I didn't think I could handle sharing my life with anybody after being solo for such a long time (over 10 years), however this man has triggered something in me and I feel that he is honest and caring which gives me faith.
