| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 7/31/2008 1:10:57 PM | KAYAK Info;
There are 3 options open for us. a 6/12 hour / 13 mile paddle from the I-75 bridge a 4 1/2 hour/ 9 mile paddle from woods ferry camp or a 3 hour/6mile paddle down to the Boys ranch
kayaks are available to rent from the park for $28 +tax this includes transportation to drop off point
Canoes are available to rent for $23 a person +tax and includes transportation to drop off point
For those that have there own boats you can pay $10.75 and the park will transport you and your craft to the drop off point. (well worth it)
If you are renting fromthe park you should call and make reservation 386-364-4991
I would like to do the 61/2 hour paddle on Saturday and then maybe the 3 hour on Sunday. Let me know what you would like to do.

| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 8/1/2008 8:54:58 AM | | I am cool with what ever you plan, another possible option you might want to consider is putting in at Swannee River State park, its free to launch from there but I am not real sure how close the two parks are together. I have been to both, just cant remember where they are in relation to one another...........Swannee River is a nice state park to camp at too, just in case we do this again (HINT HINT) in the near future. I am borrowing kayaks so this is all relative to me getting my hands on something that floats, so maybe I am counting my chickens a little to early...... | |

| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 8/1/2008 8:04:43 PM | Stan
I will call the canoe post to see what time we will leave the park. I was hoping about 10:00 but it will depend on which trip we take. If we do the 6 1/2 hour one then I think we need to leave at least by 9:00 so that we are back by 5.
Everyone needs to let me know which trip they'd like to do. Maybe the 4 hour is better so we have time to enjoy the park also.

| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 8/2/2008 6:17:54 AM | | I do not get off work until 8:30 am on Sat morning and am planning on heading there straight from work so the later that we leave the better it will be for me but I do not expect everyone to wait on me.......... If you have to leave earlier then go for it but if you can make it for as late as possible then I would appreciate it........Darla will already have my kayak there with her on friday and lil jack will set up my tent so hopefully all I will have to do it show up and have fun when I get there. I am going to try and get off work as early as possible but I just took a sat off a couple of weeks ago to go camping/caving/kayaking so I might be asking a bit to much from them but I am going to try anyways......wish me luck............. | |

| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 8/2/2008 11:18:54 AM | | Hope you all have fun, I do the Suwannee every memorial day weekend, and have done the 4.5 every year. It takes much longer then that, but it is a good time, I recommend stopping over on the sand banks and what not.. and bring plenty of beverages, The wal-mart is a good way out there. And if your staying at 22b and find a set of keys, with a black bottle opener on them, those are mine I lost last time I was there.. | |

| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 8/4/2008 8:54:23 AM | FINAL PLANS FOR KAYAKING ON SATURDAY:
We will do the 4 1/2 HOUR paddle that leaves from Woods Ferry.
If we are using thier shuttle service it leaves on the hour, we need to be at the canoe outpost 15 minutes early and we need to make reservations if anyone is using this service.
We will leave the campground at 11:00 and be in the water at 11:30.
This give Jack and Stan time to get there in the morning.
We should be back at the campground by 5:00, this gives us 4-5 hours to paddle and and hour for play time on the river.
I am going to try and check out the Woods Ferry landing on Friday to see if we can leave vechiles there safely or we need to have someone drop us off and drive our vechiles back to the campground.

| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 8/4/2008 9:19:34 AM | By the way , I have switched to site 222B so that I can pull through my rv and not have to try and back it up. Still getting used to it. Site 222B is actually the back of 224B so I did not really move just won;t have to back in.
We will probably have to do the potluck at my site since they have told me you have to rent the pavillions even if they are not being used.
Can everyone list what sites they are in please?

| Camp/Kayak/Canoe Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak Florida, August 8 to the 10th Posted: 8/4/2008 10:32:45 AM | The way it works up there is you drive your vehicle or whatever to the canoe outpost which is located in the park. There is a boat ramp down there the outpost is rght on the water. They take you and depending on what trip you are doing, they drop you off at some point, you keep going down the river, until you get back to the canoe outpost, youll be able to tell it is there because there will be canoes upside down and what not, just walk up the boat ramp and there you are back at your car.
Once you pass under a metal bridge you are not very far from the place at all perhaps 15 minutes
