| Kansas City and surrounding areas ~ Saturday, Sept. 6th 2008 ~ 8:00pm ~ FunkyTown Posted: 9/3/2008 7:54:39 PM | The Drury Inn is where we usually get rooms and recommend. I know others already staying there, and I think I am crashing in a friends room there Saturday night.
83 signed up and counting. With the ones bringing friends and those not actually clicking the sign up button, it looks like we are going to have a good turn out. I am going to be the DD for a friend that is wanting and needing to get out.
I heard something on the radio that the Roxy is reopening on the 5th also. Sounded like they were closed for remodeling also. Anyone know anything about the Roxy and what their deal is?

| Saturday, Sept. 6th 2008 ~ 8:00pm ~ FunkyTown.... 93 signed up and climbing! Posted: 9/5/2008 9:35:03 AM | Look like we will have well over 100 in attendance this night. So what are you waiting for? Get out from behind those computers and come on out and join us for some fun. A few drinks, some dancing and lots of laughing and remember FunkyTown is now a non-smoking club, but they do have an area out back where the smokers can go and light up...
Also this isn't a meat market event. These events are meant to be a way for people to get out and socialize. To get out and meet some new people and make some new friends. If someone happens to meet someone... happens to hit it off with someone then great. However, the bottom line is there are a lot of people sitting at home on the weekends with nothing to do. They have the free time but nothing to do, no place to go and nobody to go with. These events are perfect for these people. The first event is always the hardest , especially for the shy people. However, if you can just muster up the nerve to venture out you won't regret it. Come in, find a table marked for POF and grab a seat and start chatting. The one thing that will guarantee a rotten time for a newby is if they come in and sit in the corner and don' make themselves known to anyone. Those people do tend to have a bad time. If we don't know who you are we can't bring you into the fun. We aren't going to be wearing any name tags, we aren't going to be going around asking who is with POF. You have to take that first step and make yourself known... so post in the forums, email someone signed up to attend. Make contact, start a conversation before you attend an event, and it will make things a much smoother experience.

Posted: 9/5/2008 9:54:20 AM | If you are shy about coming out, please don't be - Gummis is absolutely right - if you introduce yourself to any one of us, we will make you feel welcome. Don't think you have to be a great conversationalist - if you sit down at a POF table, I guarantee there will be a good chat going on, and you won't feel like you have to do a lot of work to keep that conversation going on! This really is a friendly group - and there are always lots of jokes & kidding around!

Posted: 9/5/2008 10:21:25 AM | I forgot to mention - I drive by on my way to work, and noticed that they have repainted the exterior of the building & little booth in the parking lot, and they repaved most of the lot! Don't worry - graffiti-style mural is still there.
I was planning on Wild Wings if others are going...don't want to eat alone either!

| Saturday, Sept. 6th 2008 ~ 8:00pm ~ FunkyTown.... 93 signed up and climbing! Posted: 9/5/2008 1:25:12 PM | Alrighty then... I just ran into another member at Wal-Mart that is coming out to this event, and she was planning on going to Buffalo Wild Wings also. Therefore, I went ahead and updated the main post and added the BWW info on top. Consequently, we will be meeting at BWW before heading to FunkyTown and here are the when and where details:
Buffalo Wild Wings 9490 E. Highway 350 Raytown, MO 64133 816.313.BWWW (2999) Approximately 6 pm until 7:30 pm
I may or may not make it as I am being a DD for a friend and have to stop and pick them up on the way. Furthermore, just to squelch the rumours here and now... we aren't a couple, and I am not bringing a date . Remember... not everything isn't what it seems .
