| Are the males that use the forum smarter than the males who don't? Posted: 8/16/2008 9:45:17 AM | I think men that post in the POF forums are quite stupid... If we were smart, we'd not post anything, that way we are still a secret to those unsuspecting women that might stumble upon our profiles.
I'm fairly certain that I'm judged by my forum posts... the smarter thing for me to do would be to keep quiet.

If women read your forum posts, they shouldn't get offended because you werent talking to them directly; otr at least thry could try and argue the point; but i find there's often not one. Other then baseless :omg you're so mean why would you say that" arguments.
No one should be afraid to speak their mind on a question raised by a person. if you're going to judge a person based on their answer to someone else, you need to re-think your approach.

Anyway, I still like people with forum posts, even more so if that person is arguing something interesting, and even MORE so if he is winning. It's kind of like the internet version of stag fighting.
Okay, here's one of my greatest fears: I meet someone in person without the help of the internet... we get together... become a couple... and THEN I find out that he never uses periods or commas. That would be just awful.

People who are gifted physically enjoy physical sports.
People who are gifted intellectually enjoy mental sports.
People who are gifted verbally enjoy conversing.
Of course most of us guys who post here are incredibly gifted in all 3 characteristics, so choosing how to spend our time is really difficult.

| Are the males that use the forum smarter than the males who don't? Posted: 8/16/2008 9:12:37 PM | To answer the question, not necessarily. A good deal of the time forum posts are gripes about how hard it is to find a date, for whatever reason. Sure, it can be good to talk about these things sometimes, but not all the time. A lot of men (and women too) complain about how hard it is to find a date on here (or other dating sites) and then keep doing the same thing expecting a different result.
I dated some in college, but after college comes work (I was working throughout most of the college also) and it's hard to meet new people in your day-to-day work life. Going from college to the work place is like moving from a large city to a small town: the number of possible new people you can meet goes down quite a bit. When I was working I took some vacations in Latin America and met nice, beautiful women there. Sure, some were looking for a green card, but others weren't. Once I go back to work full-time I may do some more vacationing in Latin America because that will increase the number of eligible women I meet, much like when I went to college. On here I see a lot of guys complaining they can't get a date or that the women in their area are undesireable (to them), and yet they're not willing to go outside of their immediate geographical location to find love. So no, I don't consider guys (or people in general) who post in these forums day in and day out to be "smarter".
The smart people are the ones who use several different "methods" to find someone, offline as well as online, locally as well as globally, etc.

The majority of people do not even know the forums are here. Not one person I have talked to in a romantic fashion has ever been on the forums, all that I have discussed it with did not even know they were here.
I would feel safe in assuming that the same applies to males- a lot simply do not know they even exist. Those who do and are stupid and/or illiterate would simply not post generally. Those daft enough to get run out quite quickly.

Smart is kind of hard to define as well as grammar skills. I've known people with MBA's and those who've had four years of college that can't spell or write much better than a third grader. Are they still smart for what they've accomplished in school? It kind of makes me wonder about the value of a piece of paper when it appears any fool with spell check can get one.
If the best can't be had, let the worst continue....
