| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/7/2008 1:53:33 PM | | Men with facial hair over 45 are simply stuck in a timewarp. It looks awful, and feels awful, and puts them firmly in the middle age bracket!! | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/7/2008 4:36:24 PM | I think is it quite attractive as long as it is neat and trim.
but then i really - really like men with facial fur
my ex wore a mustach to cover a scar and in the 25 years never shaved it off. it can be use to hid scars and other imprefections
but still - it really is attractive

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/7/2008 4:54:23 PM | Isn't it interesting (and great) that we all have our different preferences?
I'm like Ismene; my personal preference for a man is for him to be without the beard and mustache. Not a dealbreaker at all, but I'm most likely going to be more physically attracted to the guys without than the guys with.
OK, one exception to my rule (but he's dead anyway, so I am also excepted): Clark Gable, or more specifically Clark Gable as Rhett Butler! Yes, I know all the stories about his dentures and bad breath. I choose to ignore all that (after all, I am talking about fantasy vs. reality!) Scarlett O'Hara was a nincompoop to pine after that wussy Ashley Wilkes for all those years...
Now, all I have to do is find a guy w/o facial hair who has a preference for a forty-something brunette gal with light brown eyes and some curves, but not fat! (Seems to be a challenge IRL, but I'll keep at it.)

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/8/2008 9:34:03 AM | I love a man with a beard / mustache, clean and neatly trimmed. Especially prefer it to the whisker burn I get from even a few hours of growth on his face.
As far as waxing, I get my eyebrows done and, after the surprise of the first time, it really beats plucking on both the pain and efficiency scales.
South o' the border, Brazil is a place, not a procedure. Just say NO!

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/9/2008 5:33:28 PM | I,ve had my mustache since I was 19.The only time I had to shave it off was when I was in IRAQ (sand fleas). It,s not a macho thing it what I have allways done and its the way I feel comfortable with my looks. The only sad thing is now and then a silver hair will turn up.Oh well just means I,m getting older.P.S. I,m still in the military and it,s within Reg,s. | |

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/14/2008 9:45:20 PM | | I am amazed at how long this thread has gotten and how many responses. Obviously a lot of women like men with facial hair. When I was younger, I didn't mind it so much, but that was, I think, possibly because there was a lot more selection: that is, there were as many men w/o it as there were with it. Nowadays, it seems most men in my age bracket have facial hair.... Or maybe it is the current style. I think, as some have said, that many have simply reached an age where they don't want to bother any more. Hmmmm.... All I can say is, I know I'm worth bothering for. If I cared for someone, I certainly wouldn't mind bothering to take certain measures that pleased him... Anyway, I still prefer the clean shaven guy, and I don't buy the point that a mustashe is an accessory to love making--I still maintain that if you can't manage, and manage damn well without one, you aren't doing it right. However, in the end, I am willing to compromise, for the right man... | |

I don't buy the point that a mustashe is an accessory to love making I'm not sure of that either, when love making has concluded for awhile,,, a mustache is a good reminder of where I have been, and I like to be reminded that going back will be just as sweet..

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/14/2008 10:34:32 PM | IMO, sometimes facial hair enhances a man's looks. It hides a small chin, a double chin and nasal wrinkles. It can make him look more youthful. It is a hirsute replacement for a balding head. A well trimmed beard seems to make a man look reflective and intelligent. You will not get stubble burn from a beard. And think of all the time he saves from not shaving and the money he saves from not buying shaving creams.
Three out of four of my SOs sported beards. I am attracted to them.

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/15/2008 6:04:17 AM | I think a beard and mustche..or either is quite handsome on a gentleman, as long as its trimmed neatly. on a happy thought... (forgive me here) it tickles the inside of my thighs when he kisses you goodnight....(my bad)
Okay... .. and the "5 o'clock shadow" of just starting to grow a beard is quite sexy on a man.......PPPPpppprrrrrrrrrrrr

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/18/2008 7:41:09 PM | Wow!! 20 pages in 4 months...
Got fired for wearing a beard back in the early 70s. Kept it, wore it to the job interviews, got hired. Hasn't been an issue since.
I like how I look in a trim beard, and have been lucky enough to meet ladies who enjoy beards. Shaved it off twice in the 90s. Both times I found myself staring back at my late father's image in the mirror. Scary. Grew it right back.
Wore G.I. and corporate clean shave and short hair for too many years. Now I enjoy the FREEDOM of having a beard and hair down to my waist.
Thank you to the ladies who share my ease with both.

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/18/2008 10:26:16 PM | I can't speak for anyone but myself here so with that said, I have a mustache and at times a goatee or a beard, it all depends on the way I feel at the time and if I were to find a lady that wanted me to be clean shaven then if I wanted to keep her I would be just what she asked, clean shaven. I spent the last 22 years of my life with either a beard or a goatee because I like the way it makes me look and also because the woman I was with enjoyed me with one. I do shave daily and I try to keep it down to a minimum because thats how the lady in my life liked it on me. Just as she kept herself trimmed up for me you know? | |

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/19/2008 2:15:53 PM | cuz it tickles the girls. LOL
It's easier to shave in the morning.
It catches the crumbs for a snack later.
It scares the girly men away.
It makes even a smile look mean and scary and unapproachable.
What's there not to like?

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 12/30/2008 5:57:00 PM | | As I got older I began to lose hair and solely on a whim I let my goatee grow in one weekend and have found that most woman liked it. I think it's a matter of how it balances out your look | |
