| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/16/2009 3:39:10 PM | | I don't like long facial hair on men. A mustache and short beard are fine. I don't like long hair on their heads either. Long hair and long beard just makes them look old and scruffy. | |

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/19/2009 6:57:15 PM | | Some women love facial hair ..me being one of them .....but you are right more older men have beards and such than younger men. | |

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/19/2009 7:09:16 PM | I run the gamut of hair on top and hair on the mug,,,
I guess I get bored with my looks at times and just change it up for the hell of it,,,
I don't know if I ever look scruffy,,,
-looks up the word scruffy-
Etymology: English dialect scruff - something worthless
-avoids looking scruffy from here out-

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/21/2009 1:17:54 PM | | I've got to say your not the first person to notice this about older men. If you want your answer just look at pictures of guys in the 70's and 80's. That was the style back then. Myself, I grew my mustache in my late teens because I had a baby face and wanted to look older. Now I wouldn't mind shaving it off to look younger, but others have said not to, that I look good with it. Personally, I'm a little concerned what I may look like without it. Just putting in my 2 cents. | |

ha! I feel exactly the same way. I've had mine since I was 19 and Lord knows if anyone would recognize me without it. Then again, my younger brother had a beard for 20 years, shaved it, and at the family reunion only a couple of people made comments about it being gone. Of course, most of them only seen him once or twice a year.
The good thing is, if you shave it, it will always grow back!

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/21/2009 2:48:06 PM | | I DO NOT AND NEVER WILL HAVE FACIAL HAIR,I LIKE IT SIMPLE AND NO MAINTENENCE.LOL | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/21/2009 4:27:21 PM | | I always had a mustache. Shaved it off once. Realized I look like my dad. Couldn't wait till my moustache was back | |

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/21/2009 6:11:21 PM | | Not me. I can't stand the itch of facial hair. It does nothing for my looks. I have a full head of curly brown hair , why would I need a beard!????????? | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/21/2009 7:09:28 PM | | I shaved everyday for 20 years in the military, now I like having a goatee. I guess for me it is being an individual again. Besides, I would rather have facial hair than a hairy back. lol. | |

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 9/21/2009 7:15:55 PM | it's warming up here...
a great big fuzzy mess of hairy face is not a good look,
and can get on the nose in this climate.
we're only talking facial hair here... but i'm not a fan of hairy men...yuk!
to each there own. but, no thank you.

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 9:31:01 AM | | All the woman i went out with like the beard i have had it since i am 24 when i shave it i look younger so i am told i guess its what she likes i would not have a problem shaving for her either way it does not matter. | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 2:33:29 PM | yuck
I think it looks gross on most men it tends to look hick-ish just talking about what I see here in CT.
but hey if that's what they like why would I care?
clearly the op isn't into it either but be warned these dolts will never shave it for you
in case you thought that maybe you could change them at some point
no not going happen
same goes in the reverse I'd never grow a beard for anyone just because they "prefer it"
can we talk about something else now?

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 7:10:30 PM | I have facial hair because so many women tell me they like it. The only ones who ever told me they don't like hair on men are either young women and lesbians.
Besides, sometimes I look better with facial hair. I shave it all of every couple of months and start over.

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 7:30:57 PM | Guys start wearing facial hair to make them look older ...it amazes me the y don't seem to grasp that now they are older it still ..MAKES THEM LOOK OLDER.
Yep nothing more youthful than a grizzled beard or mustache.
Hey you guys so committed to facial hair...go pick up a dog , wired haired terrier would be a close match. Then start kissing all over its back. While you're at it try a little tongue..on the dogs back. Yep that's how pleasant making out with a dude with beard and or mustache is.
Then there's the drinks or meals with a guy with facial hair. Stopping to wipe the food or drink out of what ever facial hair they possess. Really attractive. Really conducive to a good appetite and good conversation.

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 7:44:15 PM | OP ... I too would rather have a man without facial hair and as you said, am finding many have the facial hair that I know would bother me (I have very sensitive skin) and so I often don't even consider them.
Just as I would not want a man to tell me how to wear my hair (long, short, whatever) I will not request a man to shave off facial hair in order to be with me.
Many men actually think it contributes to their "personality". It's something I can totally live without.

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 7:46:46 PM | | I have noticed that a large majority of the men I have dated and had serious relationships with were men who wore a stach, goatee, or a nicely trimmed beard. I like the "manliness" that facial hair gives. I don't like a wild and wooly (unkempt) look, but a nicely groomed 'stach or goatee/beard look great on a man. | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 7:59:03 PM | I am attracted to men who are clean shaven or bald... now and again I have been swayed by someone who has a close cropped beard. Wild and woolly does not do a thing for me, and I coudn't imagine getting close to that at all... | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 8:11:20 PM | | I very much prefer beards and mustaches. Long hair, too. They aren't a requirement, I just like them much better than the clean shaven look. | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 8:24:15 PM | hmmm, i think an even more important question is why do so many women over 45 have mustaches! | |
|
| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 8:30:10 PM | I really don't know, but personally, I hate it ! Nothing like smelling dinner over an hour later Yuk ! And as much as I hate shaving, I'll never stop doing it.
Good news is, I don't have to shave my legs or other parts of my body :)
And it bothers me a lot when kissing a girl as well............

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/8/2009 10:50:49 PM | | I think some men think it looks "distinguished" and adds character to their age. I dont mind facial hair as long as it is kept neat & clean. Some men I have met have told me they have had their moustaches & beards for years and just won't change, and have carried it over to their older age. Maybe when men reach "male menopause" they feel they need a change of look, as well as going through the "change of life".... so maybe they feel now they've hit a certain age they have to have that certain "look" about them. Not sure..... | |

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/9/2009 11:55:37 PM | I was clean shaven until the light came on !!!!
Just why do men shave and why is it necessary ? If it is natural then why change it ?
I came to the conclusion of:
It serves some unknown purpose but Ill never know what it is if I dont grow a beard
It really works well to prevent people mistaking me for a woman.
It is a conspiracy by Gillette to separate me from my money with vanity.
I love to do my own thing for my own reasons . . shaving doesnt make sense.
They are fun to grow and play with . . . a new toy !!!!!!

| Men over 45 and facial hair Posted: 11/10/2009 8:29:02 PM | | Shaving has draw backs, takes up time, cuts and knicks to deal with razors, and having facial hair can be trimed to what ever sort of style you like, full beard, partial beard, mustache, or foomanchoo, ect. Just like a hair cut. | |
