Posted: 9/13/2008 12:07:29 AM | If Ken fights smart, he should be able to take this fight. I would not be surprised at all if he manages to submit Kimbo with a leg or heel lock or something. As long as Ken keeps Kimbo off his feet, it should be relatively easy to get the win.
But will he do that? I'm not sure. Either way, it's hard to believe this is a "main event". EliteXC actually has a few decent fighters that deserve the attention more than Kimbo. What about Nick Diaz? Jake Shields? Robbie Lawler? Frank Shamrock? Hell, even Gina Carano in the main event is a more deserving setup. | |

Posted: 9/13/2008 8:29:35 AM | Ken should win this one but he won't. He's more skilled, more experienced and should still have plenty left in the tank to get the job done.
However, the edge for Kimbo here is the mental game. Kimbo knows enough to know what he doesn't know...while Ken...well I think we've all seen that Ken simply cannot be told anything.
Ken will stand and trade when he should shoot and submit. He will get knocked out.
Brains and brawn win this one. | |

Posted: 9/14/2008 2:39:46 PM | The thing about Elite making Kimdo their poster boys is, that between the quality of the competition, and refs clearly stopping the fight too early (as in Kimbo's last fight, the "ear fight"), all we are seeing is how unskilled and unconditioned afighter he is right now.
He is an alright striker, and it seems that a bit of a ground "game", ie. some ground skills, has begun to evolve, but I dunno.... my enthusiasm to watch him fight continues to dwindle.
I don't expect Shamrock to take a dive, or for the ref to stop a fight involvving him early. Ken is a component, well rounded, and thoroughly tested fighter... if somewhat aged... so IF Kimbo can beat him it wold reestablish his crediblity in my eyes.
But to date, he has been fed chumps and sheltered by the refs... against mediocre competition at that.
Oh well, at least Kimbo ISN'T being given a shot at the title! | |
