| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/26/2008 6:19:43 PM | I CAN feel other's distress and pain. During my child hood it caused me a lot of misery. Pain was an emotion to be denied. Only anger was considered a valid emotion in my family. Imagine living in a household where you can feel the pain around you BUT everyone is invested in denying it exists. If you even hinted that someone was hurt or depressed (even now) you would be attacked viciously.
So I learned to silence my own inner voice and intuitiveness. Part of my healing has been learning to trust myself again.
I remember having a very deep spiritual experience during meditation. I tried to visualize my pain as a bird, flying far, far away. When I did so, the pain attached itself to me with a long cord. Then I tried to visualize rising above the pain and it attached itself to my back.
In deep distress and frustration I asked God why wouldn't he take this pain away. He said it belonged to me. It was a gift, here to teach me and help me grow.
If I am a healer, then I need to learn how to take care of myself because as it is I am an open vessel for other people's negative energy.
I tried to read through the Native American Spirituality thread but it was very long (32 pages) . I read some stuff on auras but not much that was relative to me.

I tried to read through the Native American Spirituality thread but it was very long I tried to read that thread everyday, and I felt overwhelmed by the amount of text. I participated a few times, and many of the stories wer very good, but the thread did have some problems, and there were difficulties resolving them. As I first suggested on this thread, walking away in some conflicts is the easiest, and I had to ignore many of the posts.
I came away with a few concepts that made a lot of sense. The most important concept was written as "The white man thinks with his brain, the indian thinks with his heart." Since then I have found way too many people who never think with their heart, and a few others who simply need basic training on listening with it, and speaking with it.

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/26/2008 8:57:28 PM | If reading for an hour or so, is too much work for you to do (too hard) then I would say that you will have a LOT more problems in your life, as when you ask people for help & don't put any effort into it yourself..., it is sort of like saying you are "too lazy" to listen to anyone's help, right?
This is another good point WHY some Indigenous People see some other people as being "not centered"... The Internet generation seems to want everything in "real life" to be just: a "few second wait" and/or a "CLICK" away, to resolve a real life problem...
Life doesn't work that way, my young friend...
You have to put some effort into things, if you want REAL RESULTS... (especially, since you have children of your own)

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/26/2008 9:31:33 PM | Ameerra, cleansing can come in all different forms...you need to work with what feels BEST TO YOU! What I have come to learn...is that it can be as simple as clearing out what is in your mind first....and always carrying love in your heart.
A great book for you would be Don Miguel Ruiz's book called, "The Mastery of Love"...read it slowly and ponder on what you read.
Start simple.....just keep replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts....try not to respond to situations in negative ways(anger, worry, etc)....when you feel tension building and a negative situation approaching, leave if you think you cannot handle it...and go find a place to center yourself.

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/26/2008 9:55:17 PM | plato, thank you for your help and advice.
I'm sure you feel that the thread would be worthwhile for me to read and you may be right. I will have to decide that for myself, won't I? I read a lot of it -- it was as much effort as I was willing to put into it AT THE TIME, because I didn't find it spoke to me and many times the thread kept getting derailed by other topics.
I am a great fan of taking my time but more than that, of making my OWN decisions, with the help of others. I put effort into things I find worthwhile, but I have to make the final decision, even if someone recommends it to me.
So thanks again for the recommendation and who knows, I may go back to it -- it is not going anywhere and there is no requirement that I read all 32 pages in one day.
Ameerra, cleansing can come in all different forms...you need to work with what feels BEST TO YOU! Thanks so much. I really believe this is true!!!
since other's may have knowledge I don't, I'd also like to hear what has worked for others.

This is really good advice, thanks. I didn't skip the part about the book either! It's going on my weekend reading list! I am expecting to see great results.

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/26/2008 10:43:50 PM | Hi Ameerra,
You have gotten a lot of great advice here. I would like to talk with you privately about some things I know, because I am also very sensitive like you. I can't PM you because I don't have a picture. I may have one soon, however, I would like to share some things, activites, resources, and perspectives with you that may help. I have been where you are.
I have a feeling that this will be a process of discovery for you, and will be much like an onion, peeling things off, layer-by-layer.
One suggestion I can give you on this public board, is to choose one thing, out of all the advice given, and just do that one thing, for the coming week. Make small changes, it does not have to be a big leap, to get to the feeling place you wish to be with people.
You said you will be reading the "Four Agreements" this week-end. It might be useful to have pen and paper with you, to make notes. I say this, because I hear a desire for greater awareness, within you. I hear a desire to grow and expand, and change. The pen and paper can help you note your thoughts and feelings, to what the author says. This can lead to clarity.
I hope this helps.

The salt can be sprinkled anywhere that you would be comfortable, and not make a mess with it. Wooden floors would be a bad place. A grass area would probably be the best.
Welcome to the concrete jungle. I just realized living in New York, I'm hard pressed to find a blade of grass unless I go to the park, yeesh!

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/28/2008 10:36:20 AM | Ameera, there are alternate methods for incorporating salt into a cleansing or blessing which don't require 'sprinkling'. Fill a spray bottle or mister with spring water (I add a few drops of Holy Water also) and dissolve some sea salt in the water mixture. Spritz the mixture where needed, a little dab will do ya. You may also place a small bowl of salt in a central place in your home for a similar effect. For protection, try black salt. It's available in many Asian markets. Use it in the same manner as you would sea salt. Patchouli essential oil is excellent for both cleansing & protection. Annoint window frames and doorways with a very small amount. A dab on the exterior doorknob helps keep unwanted visitors away. Hope this info is helpful. By the way---I've been using these methods for over 25 years and they've worked well for me,a nd everyone I've recommended them to. | |

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/28/2008 2:41:18 PM | A spiritual cleansing can be as simple as learning to let go of past hurts and moving on. Healing. I like Shamanism for this. there is something call Soul Extraction that the leader of the Shaman community performs. It is more of a meditation/journey ritual than anything along to drums. I have not done this myself, but it is supposed to help renew your spirit during troubled times.
Cleansing can also be as simple as someone has said, (sorry have not read all the posts) meditating daily. Affirmations help. Do some reading, there are some good spiritual books out there to help you choose the right path. For me, I like Shamanism because it deals with healing your mind and body and helps to get over past hurts.
FYI OP, feeling others emotions means you're empathic. Check out one of my threads I did on empath vs energy vampire. Some good posts on that thread.

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/28/2008 8:56:55 PM | I just finished reading Don Miguel Ruiz' Mastery Love. It was excellent!!!
thanks so much for recommending it. I am going to also check out the thread on energy vampires -- this was spoken about in the Celestine Prophecy and I believe it is real.
I've experienced the narcissistic feeding off of energy of others.
I'll give you an example. we have a new baby in the family. Sweet as can be. She came to stay with me and we had a ball. Her mother called and said, in mock sympathy, How are things going, I know you must be going crazy. She is such a "bad" baby. I said, Oh, no, she's a doll. She hardly cries at all. The mother was quiet at this news and said, Oh well, I'm not going to call again. I'm going to enjoy myself, I thought she was giving you a hard time.
Truth is she wants the baby to cry for her because it makes her feel important. When this child grows up she will be told she's needy, unable to do for herself and clingy because the mother needs to feel needed.

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/29/2008 9:13:48 PM | Mabey the people approaching you are attracted to your aura. Not the negativity of your past experiences but the brightness and positive intentions of your present.
I read about control dramas (celestine prophesy?) and that some who are low in energy attempt to gain energy from others using anger. When you react the energy exchange is that they have gained some of your energy and you are depleted.
I am currently reading a book which talks about non-violence and turn the other cheek idea is not to respond to such an attack just wish them peace silently or outloud and leave the rest to God.
I have also read somewhere that if you feel someone is trying to gain energy that you do not feel to give to form two circles with your thumb and index finger and lock them together in the form of a chain or a figure eight. I always forget to try this so I cannot tell you personally if it works but it is supposed to strenghthen the aura against psychic attack.
I had an idea where you said God told you your pain was a gift. Pain and negative circumstances is a gift in a way because it is practice to make yourself greater, progress spiritually. Practice to transform the negative into the positive. That is what all light workers do, Jesus included, - turn the negative into the positive.
Once when I was frustrated at not having enough patience and telling a friend I had prayed for patience why was I bombarded with circumstances that made me feel impatience. This friend told me that I can pray for patience and what I will receive is ways to practice my patience....I didn't understand it at the time but now I get it to mean somethings take practice to develop. And the circumstances where we get to practice are a gift.

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 8/30/2008 8:42:18 PM | oh, yes, Indigo, I totally get where you're coming from. We are presented with the exact circumstances that will help us develop the very traits we find the most difficult. For me I'm not certain what it is and it is very painful sometimes. Hard to see the lesson. | |

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 9/5/2008 9:48:38 PM | | Hi, I come from a long line of santeria culture. You do need to cleanse. One simple one you can do is take a nylon (knee high) pour in salt (like an inch) take in shower with you. After you bathe rinse under shower head, with nylon of salt and let it disolve all down on top of you till nylon is empty of salt and just rinse clean. Also have good thoughts and ask god to remove all negativity. This works. | |

| Do I Need Spiritual Cleansing? Posted: 9/5/2008 10:49:40 PM | | What you don't want to do is try to burry those memories away and get rid of them rather you want to find ways to cope with them and learn from them. You could always take a meditative journey to those who hurt you when you were younger and tell them how you felt in a sort of psycho therapy type of way of releasing your pain and anger. For the most part spiritually you could cleanse your aura and chakras by visualizing your entire being cleansed and purified of such things with white light. It sounds like you have been through a whole lot and could heal a lot of your wounds and pain by reaching out to others who have been through the same. | |
