| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:27:11 PM | You have to be pretty delusional if you think Hilary supports are going to vote republican just because you could have a woman VP. This may truely be the worst political move in US history. Mccain is already going to look like an old man who can't speak when the debates come around. Biden vs Palin in the debates is going to be an even bigger joke. First black president...Mccain should just quit now. | |

I'm sure some of Hillary's supporters were swing voters who aren't deeply committed to either party. Those are the ones who determine who's going to win, usually... or at least when it's close...
I disagree that it was a dumb move. I think McCain is making the most of his opportunity. I think there are many voters who'll vote for him and Palin, because women are very underrepresented in government. That's not a dem/repub issue at all.

| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:33:27 PM | I'm finding this idea of Obama being all talk very interesting because what else is he to do at this point? All the candidates are all talk right now. What else is he supposed to say if he doesn't make promises? Even if its promises he can't keep yet? He has to offer up something. He's damned if he does and dammed if he doesn't.
I think the truth of those who support McCain is becoming more and more obvious by your thinly veiled reasonings against Obama. Just come right out say why you wouldn't vote for the guy and be specific. Nobody is being specific as to why they WONT vote for Obama. And I mean real hard factual citable reasons why. I'm sure every person posting on these boards can point out with specifics, links, video etc why they wouldn't vote for John McCain, but I have yet to see any links, video or citable specifics why you wont vote for Barack. That leads me to believe the real reason why you wont vote for him is something other than his views which most fail to point out with specifics. And if I'm wrong, please SHOW ME that I'm wrong. I'm all about truth be it painful or not. At least then you can honestly asses a situation, decision or choice even if you don't like it. But basing things off of speculation, assumption and emotional, irrational reasoning is just crazy. So again, why is Barack Hussien Obama not fit to be the President. Specifics please. Thanks.

it shows that a politician is willing to put his/her child where his/her foreign policy is. No, it doesn't. He is an adult and she has no control whatsoever. She could peddle influence to try to keep him out of harm's way but it's not like she said "I'll donate my only begotten son to the cause!"

| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:33:49 PM | The only way that McCain will look "good" is if female voters get tricked into voting for an inexperience, unqualified, & unknown female based on Gender. Otherwise, it will be recorded in the Record Books as a bad political decision (surprise! surprise! McCain has shown incredibly poor judgement in the Iraq War decision and his 95% agreement with Bush. "Don't take a 10% chance on change" (Obama, DNC 2008).
I can't wait to see the GENDER VOTING DEMOGRAPHICS!!
WOMEN VOTERS = Please Vote for Obama because of his ABILITY not b/c of her gender!! All of you have an extremely important decision to make. Women Voters will decide this election!! Don't let Gender be your guide.

His vision is the American dream. . . What is so wrong with that?
He is reaching out for cooperation in running OUR country.
He asked; we may have our differences on issues like guns and abortion, but can't we agree that keeping AK-47s out of the hands of gangs, or work to reduce unwanted pregnancy? He also said, in no uncertain terms that this country is so brokenn, it is going to take MUTUAL sacrifice to overcome. . . He called on all of use to work together to effect change.

| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:39:51 PM | Light reading:
Barack Obama has accepted the Democratic nomination for president of the United States. He gave his acceptance speech on the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a Dream” speech. And just two days after Hillary Clinton gave her “I Had a Dream!” speech.
They had a Mount Olympus backdrop with columns on it . . . a little over the top. Like when they introduced him as “Barack — son of Zeus!” That seemed over the top.
Last night, during his speech, Bill Clinton promised to do everything he could to help Barack Obama win the election. Hillary said, “That’s nice — but you know Bill . . . keeping promises is not his strong suit.”
According to the New York Post, a delegate at the convention received information packets with three separate warnings not to drink too much, because alcohol has a much greater effect at higher altitudes. I guess they didn’t want anyone getting drunk and accidentally sleeping with John Edwards again.
Thats funny, I dont care who youre voting for.

| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:43:26 PM | ^^^^^Agreed 100% !!! That's why it's amazing to me that people would vote against Obama. He's pledging to help the very people who WOULDNT vote for him! And who DONT agree with him. He's reaching to the very core essence of who we claim to be as Americans. Thats transcendental! He addressed every issue at the heart and provide a strong challenge for us all to dig deep and come together. What the hell is wrong with that?!!
I can't wait to see the republican convention as well as the debates. This is sooo fascinating. And I usually can't stand politics.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Credit for what?? being his mother or being proud? or is it just a rhetorical question? Then I'm not sure why you responded to my post to begin with. Some persons were touting her son's service as a feather in her cap... a reason she would be a good veep... a reason to vote for her... and I questioned it.

| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:45:27 PM | Reddwine: Shes only running for VICE president. NObama, on the other hand, is the one that will be leading..ummm, wait, or will it be Biden? I get confussed as they were both introduced as the next president.
Redd, you're forgetting if elected, McCain will be the oldest president ever, and as such might not serve out his term. As veep she would take over, so her experience is TOTALLY germane, especially if you're going to attack Obama on the same issue? If McCain attacked Obama on that point now he'd look ridiculous and be easily dismissed.

| McCain's VP pick... Posted: 8/29/2008 1:47:17 PM | I am neither surprised by the Republican party's strategy of choosing a woman as their candidate's running mate, nor the timing of the announcement. But it is reactive, not proactive. Expedient perhaps, in terms of this competition for power...but more about salesmanship, than leadership. | |

| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:48:48 PM | HalftimeDad, I'm not trying to taunt anyone. I'm just seriously interested in hearing peoples reason why they would and wouldn't vote for said candidates. It's fascinating to me that people say they will or wont vote for such and such but give vague uninformed reasons why. I just want facts as to why someone is voting they way they are. If my post are coming across as taunting then apologize to anyone who is annoyed by them.
Reddwine why don't you like Obama? I asked this of Apologist but she backed off. Now, I'm not taunting I'm curious why you wouldn't vote for him. Please be specific. Sugar, I didnt "back off". You clearly have never met our mods. (nice guys, real cute and all but very "by the book") This is not the place for such a discussion. If youd like to create a thread devoted to such a topic, than by all means, I'll meet ya there. With bells on.
You have to be pretty delusional if you think Hilary supports are going to vote republican just because you could have a woman VP. Clearly you have never heard them voice the opinion "just to piss on Obama's parade". (the Clinton clan are very emotional voters, and very bitter over the fact that he seemed to have treated her unfairly, from what I have gathered, and will vote for a woman VP, even if they arent McCain supporters. Lets keep it real, shall we?

McCain SERVED his country in Vietnam, Obama has TALKED to people in Iraq If military service on the front during war time was crucial to being POTUS, the shrub wouldn't be in office today. What's your point?

It's bad enough to cheat on your wife but it's completely deplorable to do it while she is going through all that breast cancer treatment. Edwards is a complete douche for that.

This could be the first time a Presidental candidate with no experience pointed out the other parties vice presidential candidate has no experience and thinks it's a problem. I haven't heard Obama voice this complaint. If you have, please indicate where. The bigger point is that now McCain cannot chastize Obama's relative lack of experience-- at least not with much credibility at all...

| It looks like McCain's VP pick is................................ Posted: 8/29/2008 1:57:58 PM | The Major Reason McCain picked Sarah Palin was GENDER (He is trying to win women voters). Here's Sarah Palin's direct quotation of her trying to win the Female Votes (funny that she gives 2 Democratic exampes, isn't it?).
"I can’t begin this great effort without honoring the achievements of Geraldine Ferraro in 1984 and of course Senator Hillary Clinton, who showed such determination and grace in her presidential campaign. It was rightly noted in Denver this week that Hillary left 18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling in America but it turns out the women of America aren’t finished yet and we can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all."
