Posted: 1/20/2007 10:08:18 AM | guys who show off their cars and such in their profile make me laugh. they're always good for a giggle cos they think they're so hard and manly cos they're into cars and may own a nice set of wheels, but in reality, its the car that owns them.
i've also seen some profiles with girls who show off cars as well, and they usually end up seeming to be really ****y, attitude-giving slags from my impression. they're probly more manly than the men who show off their cars! | |

Those that dont have anything...probably are bums. So have fun walking with your GREAT TALKER...I have got to get to work and make some $$$ ya know I wanna retire at like 45-50... ya got to think ahead...who wants to work when they are old....mind you you are all probably gonna die early from sleeping aroung..ya dirtys! | |

Posted: 1/20/2007 12:45:46 PM | I have my dog, and my old corvette on my profile...not to impress people but to show that these things are part of my life and personality, similiar to explaining who you are in the paragraph section only using pictures instead. The Vette is a hobby and i love the car, i don't do it to impress, but rather to inform, "hey this is part of who I am". I guess i depends on the profilers intentions, if they are trying to impress women with material items i think it is tacky and will attract golddiggers. I am just showing parts of my life. | |

Posted: 1/20/2007 4:07:46 PM | Profiles like that usually make me move right along. It just seems like they're trying to sell themselves with *things*. I'd rather read about the person they are. Likes, dislikes, personality traits, and so on. Actually come to think of it, guys who 'advertise' that they have/make alot of money sort of turn me off. I think I have it in my head that they're going to be superficial.
I'm completely open to the idea of someone chatting with me and discovering that I'm wrong about aforesaid 'superficialness' - I wouldn't not talk to someone due to a profile like that. But I don't think I'd initiate the conversation though.
But that's just my take on it. There's nothing wrong with someone being proud of the accomplishments they have attained. And there's nothing wrong with women who look for that in a man. (So long as that's not *all* they're looking for - we all want someone who's self sufficient after all.) | |

I have a photo of me with different colored hair because I want men to know I color my hair in the autumn - if ya dont like it, next. I also have a photo of me in my convertible becuase I love to be out in the summer - so if you are a couch potato and are looking for a pillow - next. I believe its the same with men. We all have our toys, etc that make us who we are and want to be with someone who can enjoy/appreciate who and what we are about.
If I dont have the time, patience or desire for some hobbies/interests of men, I would prefer to know about them before things heat up. BTW sailorfun - nice miter saw......... | |

Though i will say if a person has worked hard for them, then be proud of yourself and enjoy them, but i just don't see a need for displaying them or mentioning them in your profile, unless of course you are advertising for a gold seeker into which there are tons of them around, in any event, good luck to those who do advertise, if its something you need to do, then have at er'... | |

If your trying to have bragging rights or like your sh*t don't stink then yah that's not right and just totally ignorant. I choose to have pictures on mine that would fall into this category,but money has nothing to do with it for me. These are just say "personality identifiers", things that represent who I am and and something as to what I'm about. It also shows what I'm interested in. It has nothing to do with showing off. "I'm glad I am who I am and love my life and am passionate about it!" | |

A man who shows off his toys is like a peacock displaying his feathers. Proud and showing it. The rest is subjective interpretation based on ones own inadequecies or narrow minded immaturity. Blondeambition: Is that a 1980's Monte Carlo? Cool.
While I think it is a little crude for guys to show off toys, it's a bit of a turn on for me when women have a passion for their car.
I'd put a picture of my car on. Most women won't date a man without a car (at least in what I read) so I need to list proof.
I wish it was a toy, but it's just a daily driver (Read: non 2 door sports car or monster SUV). | |

You could be the richest man with the best toys and still be a complete creep. Or you could be the man with just enough to get by from pay to pay and be the most incredible man on the planet.
Toys, cars and money don't make you a better person, they just mean you have assets and manage money well.
Personally, I don't care what they list on their profiles. If I'm not attracted I'm not contacting.
My humble opinion.

Unless of course it involves roleplay and RENFAIRE Gear!
As an almost 40yr old woman, I'd much rather see a man who wants a woman for who they are, and not try to lure a woman for what assets they possess!

They have to be materialistic to attract a woman. Yet complain later calling all women gold diggers.. Well hello DIPSH!TS?!?!? What do you think you will attract with profiles like that?? LOL | |
