Or maybe, Oohlala, he read the minutes of the last NOW meeting in his area. I just get the impression that NOW's message is that women, to be "equal", need to be superior to men, and it's chief method is to demonize Men, the whole bloc of them, as if the whole gender is some massive colony of superbly organized ant colony. Lol. The only "organization" men have come up with (and that only brought together a tiny fraction of the gender population), was the Million Man March thing, and all its tenets seemed to be concessions, or accommodations (for lack of better words) the abiding, even relentless, points made by it's more militant counterpart. Not judging merits here, in any way, except that I don't buy that men (1) conspire or act in concert to get anything of consequence done, (2) are anything close to demons, or empowered in that way, and (3) that gender lines are helpful tools to improve anybody's condition.
But, I think the reason it's viewed differently, is because of the overarching power structures between men and women.
No offense, but I think you're borrowing someone else's tools here, and I'm not so sure you picked the right ones for the job.
My best guess is an alternative reason for the contemporary upswing (if that is really happening) of the pairing of older women with younger men. The porn industry is the culprit! Lol! Yep, designed as a means to provide continuing employment opportunities to over-30 starlets ("models", to use the industry's term) who for alot of reasons are probably easier, more tractable, more professional, for the film makers
than the "fresh faces". I've read alot of posts attributing men's depravities to porn, and kinda thought that was a questionable tactic, but in this instance, maybe because I can find no fault with older women/younger men, well, there might be something to it.

Re: using the term "overarching power structures" that has as much to do with me being an Anthropology major as it does with any interest in feminism. I'm pretty sure I used the term correctly... but why don't you go do some readings on power structure theories before trying to tell me? | |

When I hear men talk about game playing and younger women it makes sense for the older men who seem to love to play games to be with the younger women who love to play games....however, I find a relationship that is based on sex to be unfullfilling and boring, and have heard the line of "older women know what they want" way too many times from ayounger man when he was too chicken to say that some younger men are able to find gullible older women who will have sex if the younger men compliment them and lie about liking them for more than a fwb, etc. I want a relationship with a man who is near my age that is not based on sex. Maybe the younger women have expectations that the younger men cannot meet, and the younger men call that playing games. | |

Posted: 3/19/2009 8:26:47 AM | Speaking as a younger guy who is very attracted to older women there are a lot of reasons. And I have been asked a lot why I am atttacted to older women so I have had a lot of chances to think about it. And I think each guy who likes older women has a different reason. Basically for me it is that older women just tend to be a lot more fun and exciting. Maybe it is that it is something different.
I have definitely found that for the most part older women are less inhibited and just plain know how to let go and have fun more so than girls my age. It isn't true in all cases but it definitely is in most. Younger women often have a certain image of what things are supposed to be like and if it doesn't match that there seems to be drama. Older women seem to just take things for what they are and know how to go with it and just have fun and enjoy the moment. Kind of an "if it feels good, go for it" kind of attitude.
Now I will admit much of this is definitely true in bed which is one of the reasons older women do make better lovers but it really isn't just about sex. All these things are true in every part of the relationship! | |

But I've come to the conclusion that younger men see it as a way of proving manhood. They know that older women have lots of experience of being approached, seduced, and of love-making and romance. They know that older women will know when they are hitting on them, right from the start, and that they've got to get it right. An older woman will have performance standards and know what she likes. This means she's not going to put up with a crap performance. Frankly, I think it's the challenge - if I can get this experienced, attractive woman to make love with me, then I really must be something. She wouldn't put up with just anyone, only a real man. She's confident enough to say no to anyone who doesn't get it right, so if she accepts me I'm a star. Incidentally, it will also look good with my mates! | |

One time I had this 30 yr old guy hitting on me, while girls in there 20s were hitting on him, and he ended up taking me home. I wasn't even trying to get him, seriously.  OMG he was fun! I never could understand Demi Moore's interest in her younger guy till that night! | |

Posted: 3/22/2009 12:08:18 PM | I've always liked women of a certain age. When I was a young man, they were older women. For a while they were the same age as I was. Now they are younger. The time will come when I will be forced to reevaluate, but for now, it's still working out just fine. Maybe if I buy a Ferrari, I can hold off "Adjustment Day" a little longer.

That's not the demographic I was thinking about. Though, if I had to chose between someone that young and someone closer to my age, who is trying to relive those years, it would be an easy choice.  | |

Men are more likely to pursue a less attractive woman for sex, because he'll perceive her as easier, rather than wasting time on the hot, young 8's, 9's, and 10's. It's not really about hot or ugly, fat or thin, old or young. We just want to get our fuck on.

Me, I wouldn't trade an older man for a younger one, been there done that. Older men are easier I think. They like making love, not just doing it. There is a difference. Now, I can go after anyone, do anything they allow me to do, with no inhibitions. It is wonderful to be an older woman, more of us have got to come out of the closet and start speaking up in the world on many issues. Many of us older ladies just know what we want and I think some younger men find that appealing. The flip side is the same.
