Posted: 5/20/2009 8:09:16 AM | Hi ladies & gents, I normally have a browse through the forums but this one really tickled me, particuarly some of the replies from younger girls, who seem to find it a sore point, forgive me if I got that wrong......I am 46 and have had relationships with men both older and younger, (not many I might add) but do tend to get on a lot better with younger guys, and like the op, do find that generally younger men are attracted to me. I really cant see that the age should matter at all, providing the guy is old enough, both mentally and spiritually. A relationship is about balance surely and if both parties are receiving that, then what the hell has the age got to do with it?????

The very same observations that older women make about older men can be thrown right back for the most part. The previous contributor is right. Its all about sex. The younger guy knows women in his gendre are, lets use the word "needy" and that women in their own age group retain that "old way" of thinking and are high maintenance. So ladies, if thats what you want, the younger man to take care of your "needs" and then drop you when he's done with you, go for it. If, on the other hand, you want to be respected, have your needs taken care of as well, maybe give the same age or older guy a looksie too. | |

As a guy who is attracted to mature women (30-45 are typically the women I'm most attracted to, I'm 21) I would have to say, in terms of their physical features, they are attractive because they are a woman, not a girl. There are girls I see around school and whatnot, they just don't tickle my fancy the same way a real woman does.
In terms of personality, god there are so many reasons why older women are better. Not as much drama, fewer identity issues (not always), know what they want, act like a lady, etc.
For some reason, older women tend to like me as well. Pretty much anytime I'm at a club, it seems the handful of older women in the club, or group of cougars, are always coming up to me. I've been told that it's my boyish good looks, I have that I-want-to-pinch-your-cheeks-and-just-take-you-home kinda look to me I guess. | |

Hmmm....you got me thinking. I was beginning to wonder why most of the responses I am getting here are from women who are 2, 3 sometimes even 5 to 7 years older than me. (Dont misunderstand, keep em coming ladies!) I'm wondering, if the ladies my age or younger than me are still thinking in terms of meeting Mr. Right and thinking they are going to live forever to find him?
Myself, I'm a widower and I saw my late wife who was 4 years younger than me lose her battle to colon cancer. I'm kinda gunshy now of meeting someone who's older than me. I'm sorry to have to say that...but thats just how I feel. But all in all, I think as someone said earlier, age shouldn't matter either way. If the heart is willing.

Posted: 5/20/2009 11:46:36 AM | It's interesting the debate this brings about.....I even just asked a male friend who is 10 years younger than me, not a partner but very attractive guy and he answered its not a deliberate thought pattern, just what some guys find attractive, in many ways. We certainly are not desperate, or grateful or any of the other sad ****y comments that have been made by some, there is some inner self esteem issues going on there maybe and I hope they can be resolved for those individuals. Sadly, we all get dumped or loose a loved one at least once in our lives, I am afraid age don't come into it. It is not just about the sex either but the whole deal and feeling in a 'great place' happy with yourself, then irrespective of age others find you attractive. Maybe that is the secret. Oh, Hi, Lori.
To be very honest, like I mentioned in a previous profile (lol), there is a significant difference between women in terms of their ages. It is their maturity (and I don'ft mean physical maturity). There aren't the hang-ups and fears that go along with being 20-something or even 30-something.
The real truth is, women could learn something from one another, if they had more genuine respect for each other and weren't as catty towards each other regarding men.
By the same token, men could use having significantly more respect for women from age to age. Not be so quick to judge the exterior, and base their desires on the opportunity to embrace and engage someone who may very well impress them (and vice versa).

Posted: 5/20/2009 9:28:14 PM | It is fantastic to find another woman that finds nothing wrong in dating a younger man. i have a short story that reflecks alot about what was said. soon after my divorce, i was able to pay more attention to myself than a failing marriage. i lost weight, colored my hair and paid a hell of alot more attention to myself. my first night out, i happened to meet a 25 yr. old construction worker. we talked, played pool, listened to the band. as the night wore on he commented on my age, that i looked alot younger( i look at least 10 yrs. younger than my real age after my makeover). i had been married for 21 yrs. i was very out of touch with the dating rituals of single people. he had wanted to see me further. i didnt know how to react, at first. he then took my hand, looked at me with a sparkle in his eyes, and i went with him. i have been hooked since then. yes, it was about sex that night but it was also about my newly found independence. i now have a close lover that i have been with now for 5 yrs. i am 50, he will be turning 30 soon.because of my "younger" attitude we get along great. i am satisified and so is he. i get the fountain of youth and he gets no head games. | |
