So, how does a woman keep her husband happy?

You're asking a question which assumes a few things. It's assuming that only the women have an obligation to keep the man happy? My shouldn't the man be just as obligated to keep his wife happy? Is she her slave? Not if they enter into a relationship on equal terms.

The short answer seems to be – make the home a haven he can escape to after a long, hard day at the office.

Lead by example. If you want her to do nice things for you then encourage her by doing nice things for her first.

After all, “A man’s home is his castle and as such, he ought to be treated like a king”.

Who made this rule? Was it men by any chance? Burn the rule book and have a fresh start that's based on equality rather than outdated proverbs.

The minute he steps through the front door, all the focus should be on him.

As I said above, lead by example. If you want her to do nice things for you then encourage her by doing nice things for her first.

this was the theme of a very popular 1950s book 18 ways to keep ur man happy sorry 19 ways

If you want to be treated like men were treated back in the 1950s then start saving money for a time machine and pray that somebody invents one for you. Good luck with that!

how would u do it in 2008

Treat your woman like you want her to treat you. End of story.

Side note
Those Merry Xmas things you've splattered all over your thread are getting a tad monotonous. Variety is the spice of life my friend.

That's right. You should be using the ghouls and pumpkins right now, the turkey stuff several weeks from now, and THEN the splattered Merry Xmas things!

Dang, ya'll are missin' out down there, lol. Throwing eggs at cars and houses, having haunted houses where you put large grapes in a bowl of tomato juice, blindfold the kiddies and hand them a dixie-cup with some juice and one grape, tell 'em it's a dead monster's eyeball... eat candy until you projectile-vomit a spew of psychedelic, gooey candy-colored barf across your mother's best bedspread, maybe even get an apple with a razorblade in it? Go to ridiculous costume parties as an adult, and barf down the window-crack of your best friend's chick-magnet car, lol?

I didn't realize that everyone didn't have Halloween, since it's one of those ancient traditions of the Old World... Wow...?

Oh... G' mornin', sunshine!

G,day from W.A. Damon...., we do all that stuff any day (and some every day)....,
and we dont feel the need to give it a name or make a big hoopla about it all.

Heya, Freckle... I really am surprised to hear that you don't have it, guess I had taken it for granted as an Anglo thing, lol.

We do all that on a regular basis here, too- no need to wait for a holiday to raise forty different kinds of hell... Just watch some of our "Cops" shows!

Cheers! -damoN-

..., actually mate it (halloween) has slowly and increacingly been creeping in and promoted over here in OZ....,
mostly I suspect for the marketing opportunities ...., we do not have a holiday for it though.
There are many 'christ based religions' that have been vocally oposed to Halloween and it's alleged connection to non-christian
activities...., go figure.
There are others here who just see it as a further incursion or dilution of our 'culture'...., by a forign cultural activity.
This is not the 'whole of it'...., merely my 'in the moment' and likely incomplete musings.

I agre with you..., gotta love watching those cop shows, full of people carrying on like 'pork chops'...., "oh not the 'tasar' again" !

well i know when i had a similar situation from 01 - 03 it made the effort well worth the reward. single income household strugling to get by and having to work from dawn till dusk then dusk till dawn it was great coming home to someone that was able to keep a tidy nest , dinner / breakfast ready when i get through the door , relax for a short while , then snuggle up for a well deserved rest.

if i could do it again i would not hesate as it was most likely the best relationship so far.

Honey if you want a woman with a mind (oh and the smarts to use it as well ) I suggest YOU learn how to cook and clean too . And by the way the biggest turn on for most woman is her man cooking and making her feel appreciated ...
