| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/16/2008 1:57:41 PM | There is a really good site called Spiritual Oracle. I used to go there a lot. I have had a few things happen which I'm not going to go into right now, but this site helped me a lot. Jessica, you should check this site out. The people there are genuine and real, and want to help. It's free. Hope it is still around. Just google it. | |

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/16/2008 11:03:12 PM | OK. So I had my reading, and well I reckon she was at least 95% accurate. The reading went for around 1 1/2 hours. The only thing I told her was my name and age. About me (without going into too much detail): So told me of troubles I am currently having, and apparently wont work out until the end of next year. bummer. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. She told me of concerns I had about some people around me, concerns which I hadn't voiced to anyone. She picked up that I was looking into investing, (buying a house) and that I will do rather well with that investment. Woohoo for me! Suggested where my next job would be. (I had been looking in that general direction) Told me of ailments I have had (100% correct there) and which ones to look out for. She asked if I was studying, that was correct, apparently my book of knowledge is wide open so lots more study for me.
Warned I was headed for trouble with the ex. I hadn't even told her anything about him, I wasn't even thinking about him. She was in the middle of reading one of my kids, when she stopped and said she had to put that aside and tell me about a this male. That I should be concerned how he is portraying me to the kids. That he see himself as a victim. That he's only playing nice because he feels there is a glimmer of hope that this is just a faze I'm going through, and when he realises it isn't and I am moving on then things are going to change.
Now let me state hear that I haven't had a problem with the ex. Everything is amicable. Is being the operative word here. She was however, spot on with his personality, and a few other things she said about him, so I will certainly think about what she has said.
My kids: Once again only told her there name and age, and she read off a photo i had taken, all just head shots. She was spot on with everything she said about their personalities. Did get a broken arm wrong (different child). They all have a creative flair, and they do. Unfortunately more bullying to deal with in the coming months. (I'm so over this) Warned of concerns with an older child who is very private, and keeps things to herself. Didn't get a good feeling about her current bf. So may need to keep a closer eye on that.
All in all I thought she was extremely accurate, and will definately be going back. Did receive a tape of the reading so will be listening to it from time to time to see exactly how her predictions panned out.

When they give you specifics and not just generalisations that could apply to anyone, you know you're onto a good one. The best thing is to not actually dwell on what they've said but you will find as things happen in your life you will think "hmmm interesting, that psychic predicted exactly that" etc.
As I said previously, I've had some amazing predictions made that were spot on and not something you could guess.
There's definitely something in it, and it fascinates me.

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/17/2008 11:51:39 AM | | I would guess that everyone is a little clairvoyant except for the everyday vigors of living. The abuse of it, for example as a way to profit, one would have to convince their subjects they can turn it on or off at any given time, between 3 and 4 on thursday when you are paying their mortgauge. I only realize how clairvoyant I have been after it's all been played out and not in predicting that anything is going to happen. | |

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/18/2008 10:49:49 PM | Another cliche question, or is the title really saying how much does everyone desire to fill themselves with self-limiting beliefs/systems?
Are we all potential Gods? Yes, we certainly are, are we here to have experiences for the sake of learning? yes we are?
Does everyone comprehend psychic phenomena? No. Can everyone have the same abilities? No. What determines these abilities? A personal effort to shift the cultural paradigm or ontology that permeates into every human expression of consciousness.

Another cliche question, or is the title really saying how much does everyone desire to fill themselves with self-limiting beliefs/systems? This statement is ambiguous, and could be interpreted favourably from either side of the fence.
My question is what changes if it were a real phenomena - would the psychic predictions of tomorrow be any less flaky than those of yesterday. I would suggest no, psychic readings would continue to only be accurate under arbitrary, conveniently non-controlled conditions. The accuracy of psychics is demonstrably lacking (look no further than the Randi challenge). If a psychic cannot provide statistically significant (consistent) readings, I fail to see what value they provide in practical terms, beyond entertainment of course.
For those who felt they have had accurate readings, I encourage you to read up on material explaining techniques psychics use to achieve this outcome. Perhaps there's something to it in your case (I could never deny it unequivocally, I just strongly doubt it) - but if not at least you will be prepared for the charlatans.
Those who define existences as finite and measurable in a controlled fashion are doomed to live them. If we know only what is inside the box..then surely much more exists outside of it .
We could spend an eternity entertaining fantasies of what could exist outside the box. Instead the scientific method narrows down the scope to what is most likely to be reality. Remember scientists aren't critical of psi just for kicks, if tomorrow someone released a verifiable theory, the science community would embrace it. Same happened for anaesthetics, the idea we could eliminate pain through anaesthesia was frowned upon by the scientific establishment. Once evidence was offered, there were no barriers to widespread acceptance.

It is downright unethical for a psychic to make claims of this nature. It's abundantly clear psychics have a margin for error, thus should not be making claims of a slanderous nature, against a potentially innocent third party. Please don't let this bias your decisions.
Further to this, consider that sometimes a person can't get in touch with their own emotions, so how is a psychic supposed to have any confidence that they can remotely read someones intentions. The act of reading someones mind would be an invasion of privacy of the highest order. Consider if your ex went to a psychic, and this psychic began to detail your own motivations. This probably wouldn't sit well with you. Imagine if the psychic was actually spot on, and was pre-empting your actions. I suggest you'd be even less impressed.

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/21/2008 2:57:09 AM | g'day random 1981,
in response to your post, it seems to me that you have adopted the scientific ontology. I respect this, but please remember that the very roots of science are founded on magic and religion. The fact that western medical science still holds to the emblem of Hermes' hermetic staff (staff with the two serpents entwined to form one) is a curious thing.
As for the verbal claims of a psychic, there are those who choose to make this stand and then I would deem this person either a charlatan or of having bad character. The tarot sums up the 'gifted one/s' as "Those who say do not know and those who know do not say".
Psychic presence has been illustrated historically since the first documentation was laid on human societal development. Witches and Christ were viewed as welcoming figures to curious Roman minds. The sooth-sayer, the healer, the sorcerer, the magician and the exorcist. All had positions of confidence and solice to these people.
Jumping into the 14th century and you had the emergence of science and the disintegration of magic. Did you know that stone phalluses were found in old churches in England after world war 2 by anthropologists? That pagans were described as pre christian fertility and magic sects, that magic mostly pertained to the feminine. Diana is the Godess of the moon, a symbol ingrained in Roman consciousness and affiliated with magic and power.
To be simple, magic and religion are the foundations of western culture, medicine derives its cerebellum from Shamanic, pagan and fertility groups. For us to say in dread or in distaste that the 'gifts' of others is not possible, is absurd or is to be denied. Because it does not conform to our western-religio-scientific world, reminds me of the violent egotistical views of the Catholic Church during their slaughter of mostly wonderful and expressive women. Tortured and dying because they were able to levitate, understand animal behaviour, interpret the tarot, make life saving herbal medicines or just believe in a world that was magical, was holistic and greater in presence than any mechanistic view can cut.

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/21/2008 10:59:03 AM | I've had good readings, and I've had shitty ones too. It all depends on the reader.
I sometimes wonder if psychics pick up on intention. Like, if you're thinking of changing careers and the reader sees (feels?) that intention, he/she could predict a career change for you.

I don't mind people having their religious beliefs, but don't tolerate those who actively push their beliefs onto unwilling subjects, or use their belief as a platform to denigrate others http://www.plentyoffish.com/member2321395.htm

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/24/2008 3:23:21 PM | For a start it reads
I don't mind people having their religious beliefs, but don't tolerate those who actively push their beliefs onto unwilling subjects, or use their belief as a platform to denigrate others (yes, this cuts both ways).
For anyone not aware, it's an exerpt from my profile. The last few words make it abundantly clear I strive not to be guilty of these actions myself. It's really not my problem if you're unable to comprehend the difference between proselytizing/preaching and engaging in debate/discussion. Let me spell it out for you - if someone tries to argue to me evolution is wrong, that God is the reason the universe exists, that is fine, go for your life (who knows you might be right). Tell me that because I don't follow God I'm sinful and/or will go to hell, and must repent, then you've crossed the line by making it personal.
That being said, if my wording sends people the wrong message then it's something I would want to address. I'm quite open to discuss in what ways you feel my views are inconsistent with my actions - however merely posting this quote in isolation is of no value.
As I don't expect a reply from mykeyone, I would encourage others to reply in his absence.

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/25/2008 3:05:30 AM | | I'am clairvoyant my guides always tell me something of the persons past, that I could not know, to prove that its the real deal. As for getting money to prove yourself, theres this little problem of self gain. Having said that if you did it only to prove, that you were psychic, then you would have a good chance at proving it. | |

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/25/2008 3:26:26 AM | ok first - while driving across the nullabor with my bf, i had my eyes closed and was just snoozing when i woke up and could see my bf just driving along, sounds normal right? only thing was after about 10 seconds i realised that one: my eyes weres till shut and two: i was looking at my bf from face on which means i had to be sittin on his lap and therefore he couldnt drive! i was conscious of the fact that i was in my seat next to him with my eyes closed and when i thought about it to much it went away and my eyes opened. this happened three or four more times over the course of the 36 hour drive.
This is called astro traveling, or mind projection, yes you are being contacted by your cousin. you need to ask what he wants, so he knows your open to him.

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/25/2008 8:08:31 PM | I am extremely sensitive and intuitive...I could say I'm somewhat clairaudient (not thinking about a single thing, then something that I wouldn't think of (i.e. certain term I've never heard, or a way of saying things I don't use or think about) will randomly float from the back of my brain into conscious thought and I sometimes have a sense of knowing who thought it. This ocassionally happens with images as well (vivid flash then it's gone). I also feel/sense energy from people, and if I'm nearby and a strong emotion is felt by that person, it's almost like a mental slap to me - the air gets wet/heavy for a few seconds. I am a vivid dreamer, don't usually remember them, but when I do, lately I've been dreaming of people I've never seen before. Also feel/sense energy from animals, and can read the different levels/intensities (i.e. when my dog finished birthing pups, for several weeks afterward, the air around her was extremely intense and wet with hormone stuff.
However, I believe some would call that imagination, and the psychiatric community would call that mental illness.
So, who's right? | |

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/25/2008 8:33:59 PM | ^^^^^^^^ Carmen I totally understand what you mean.
I have certain things that happen to me. If I foresee something that is directly linked to a friend its like tossing a coin whether to tell them or not. Some of my friends are very open to it all and take what I say into consideration, where as some of my other friends are totally close minded and I find myself asking a millions questions on whether it is right to tell them.
I hope to strengthen the abilities I have, but also at the same time, I wonder if I could handle more than I already have. Somethings unnerve me and make me ask alot more question because Im not really understanding the information I am getting.
A few weeks ago I was awoken to someone knocking on the door and when I went to answer there was no one there. Only to have a phone call 10 minutes later to tell me a friend had passed. Is this just a coincidence or could it have been a way to warn me?
I think it is things like this that make me want to know more and not be left wondering and putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

| Psychics/Clairvoyants ~ cynic or believer?? Posted: 9/26/2008 12:13:16 AM | I am neither a believer or a sceptic. In the words of the famous Mulder "I want to believe". I think the people you see at shoping malls are scammers and you are wasting your money unless you are there to get some entertainment. I believe I have seen Ghosts and I believe I have seen UFO's but that doesn't mean I have!! Perception in the hand is worth a chicken before it hatches, so you have to work out what you want to believe and what you don't want to before the cows come home to roost!! I mean if you don't like brussell sprouts, stop buying them. I will be a true believer when it happens to me!! | |
