| Full Scale Financial Meltdown Posted: 10/4/2008 1:35:07 PM | I saw the Health Care provisions when I skimmed through the bill, I need to read that in its entirety too, see how it will affect our rates. There’s stuff for rural schools, disaster relief, payments to states and counties containing federal land, increased deductions and oh so much more. The more I read of this, the more I think it’s time for a modern day ‘Boston Tea Party.’
IMO, all the extras added in has no place in an emergency stabilization bill. For anyone who’s hunting online for this bill, it’s H.R. 1424.

There is a link to youtube below. I hope you watch it as soon as possible, as some are trying to pull it off youtube. Be sure to watch it all the way to the end.
It is an excerpt from Fox News, Wednesday, September 24. The show is "Special Report with Brit Hume" and it includes actual clips of the hearings about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Consider this my reference.
This is important information to know when we are facing a rough time ahead and electing a new administration that will determine a lot about how we weather the difficulties facing our world.

Here are a couple of more links that show who is responsible for the economic mess. It's funny how the guilty "party" blames everyone else but themselves. Unfortunately, it now looks like they will have control of the presidency as well as both houses.

"A week after the insurance giant, the American International Group, received an $85 billion federal bailout, its life insurance subsidiary, AIG General, held a weeklong retreat for its top sales agents at the exclusive St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, Calif. Expenses for the week, lawmakers were told, totaled $442,000, including $200,000 for hotel rooms, $150,000 for food and $23,000 in spa charges. "

Rules and Jurisdiction The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction to investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy implications.
Stay tuned..
The Oversight Committee will hold five hearings in October on the causes and impacts of the financial crisis on Wall Street. In addition to two hearings next week on the collapse of Lehman Brothers and AIG, the Committee will hold hearings on the regulation of hedge funds with fund managers who earned over $1 billion (October 16); on the breakdown in credit ratings with the CEOs of the major rating agencies (October 22); and on the role of federal regulators with former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, former Treasury Secretary John Snow, and SEC Chairman Christopher Cox (October 23).
Who the hell writes this shit anyway?

| Full Scale Financial Meltdown Posted: 10/7/2008 11:33:42 PM | Well wall street is crumbling, the parties are blaming eachother. People are blaming capitolism and frankly the world is going to hell in a hand basket. There is enough blame to go around to both parties, to wall street, to deregulation, to wrong regulations, and to main street. Lets face it, my cousin is one of those people who shouldnt have gotten the house loan they did. But, my cousin didnt think. She was told she qualified for a 250,000 house so she bought one. Now she cant pay it. She is screwed, but lets face it she should have known better. When something looks too good to be true it usually is. And now this nation will be paying for this mistake for years and years and years. The worst isnt over yet. And as for congress doing hearings, those are a joke, It is a way for them to posture before election day. There will be finger pointing and name calling but no answers. No fix. Government has never been able to fix anything they mess with. | |

Unfortunately....its hard to know that if we went the other route ...for instance NOT going to Iraq...we will never know if that would have worked better...No one ever knows ...you just have to make a call and go with it...
Never never never forget.....Republicans AND Democrates voted to go to war...NOT just Mr. Bush..
But we havent been attacked since we went over there...so.....I think we did the right thing...
Mr. Bush has had alot of things beyond his control happen on his watch...I am amazed he didnt quit his job...He is only human and I am sure he is doing the best he can...
I totally DO NOT agree with all this globalism...I think it makes us very very vulnerable....AIG.. does business in 139 countries...I cant understand that we out of all these 139 are the only country to bail them out....Im not for the bail out...
Im not for the bail out....I think the free market would have corrected itself and new companies would have been born to take their place...Instead of one huge company....there would have been many many smaller companies...I like that idea better..I am against HUGE corporations...GGEESSHHH how much money does one man need to make...greed at its finest..I like it better when instead of one company...there are hundreds of companies enjoying the American dream...
The al-queda had been attacking us since the 1970's.......we negotiated with Iraq for 12 years about all this stuff...nothing was working...when is enough enough?

| Full Scale Financial Meltdown Posted: 10/8/2008 12:52:10 AM | FINANCIAL MELTDOWN ROOTS..
Yep......if you have ever been in real estate...there is something called RED LINING...
This is when an agent say has a black client...so they try to direct them to buy in a black neighborhood instead of a lets say white neighborhood.......basically control where he will look for a house....this is illegal...against real estate selling rules.....it is called RED LINING..
What happened to cause this whole mess we are in now with the loans and all is the opposite of RED LINING... it is called GREEN LINING...
This is when our government came in and forced the banks and loan companies to give loans to people who really were not qualified to get these loans.....they were threatened by those politicians telling them to do this...for the lower middle class and poor immigrants..
Did the government do this because it cares so much about the poor? Nope....
It was done to PANDER FOR VOTES...
It was the DEMOCRATES that did this to us....Mr. Clinton mentioned it himself the other day on a T.V. interview...Mr. Democrate himself..
Two years ago....Mr. Bush and other Republicans such as McCain said that we need to stop all this or we are going to be in big trouble...that we needed to get some control on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans...The Democrate controlled congress said NO.
So now...we are where we are...and why? PANDERING FOR VOTES ON THE BACKS OF THE AMERICAN ECONOMY... This was the biggest campaign donation EVER!!!
Mr. Bush also has tried to reform social security as he see that coming crisis as well...where 1/2 of your social security taxes will go into the government system and we can invest the other half as we see fit...I worked in the financial investment industry...I know far better investments than the social security system...I would rather be responsible for my own future..
Mr. Bush is not perfect...I do not always agree with him...but he is not all bad ....he has tried to reach across the isle and work with the Democrates...but they just will not cooperate on anything...they are always thinking about their election instead of the people of this country..The will do nothing big and wonderful for us that will involve a Republican...why...because they just want to win elections by making the Republicans look bad...Look at all their Stalinist show trials these last few years...Big accusations against Rep. politicians...their loss of reputation/job...and then.....nothing. Just a bunch of crap in my opinion...Heartless attacks on innocent men.
A vote for Obama will be the worst thing ever in this country..I am very very worried... TRUE STORY: In another country, there was a young man running for president .He was young and full of ideas....He went all around everywhere talking to everyone promising change change change...He eventually won the election...One problem though................no one asked him what Kind of Change he was proposing......This young politicians name was Fidel Castro...True Story....
Hitler: If you tell a lie over and over and over...the people will so0n believe it...
Voting is the most important thing we do for our country...It is very very important to check a persons VOTING RECORD...very important to ask the politician what is it he wants to change..
We shouldnt get all wrapped up in emotion...We need to study the facts about each candidate...Forget the t.v...the television new is alot of propaganda and usually left slanted...no truth there..Ive known this since the Oliver North trials years ago...when I would watch the news....they lied their faces off about the triall..I was in total shock...Needless to say....never watched those shows again..
I now focus mostly on a.m. radio news shows....makes alot more sense to me....
Obama wont really answer the question "What kind of change" ..scarey to me...we should not vote for a man just because talks well...or if hes cute...etc...but content of a mans character ..and yes...it does matter who one hangs out with...guilty by association..
I thought the last election was scarey.....this one terrifies me...
Are we really ready for socialism? Being taxed 50% or more...Can you live on half of your paycheck?
Remember...this loan crisis..the worst ever financial crisis since the 1929 depression was the result of VOTE PANDERING by mostly democrates....
See.....everytime the government gets involved in business...bad things follow...And now the Democrates want to make us all dependent on the government..More power for them...
DONT BE A SHEEPLE......ALWAYS VOTE LESS GOVERNMENT.
Not saying all Republicans are good either...
I think most politicians are too entrenched and should be voted out....My motto is dont vote for any lawyers or trust fund babies...Our founding fathers said it is a very bad thing to have "barristers" or lawyers in the government. They knew it would not be a good thing...
I am very worried about my country...I feel bad times coming..very very bad times...
God be with us.... | |

| Full Scale Financial Meltdown Posted: 10/8/2008 5:01:37 AM | i watched the market (NYSE) dead cat bounce all the way down to 9400 yesterday. today the trend is likely to continue. haha, it's funny to watch, not unlike a train wreck in action because you haven't been hit by the shrapnel yet.
the foundations for what's happening now were laid *years* ago. there is no way you can vote for "less" government, because you are going to get more of it whether you like it or not..... in-your-face and up-your-a$$ government as a matter of fact, from cradle to grave. again i say, it makes absolutely no difference in the end whether you vote for mccain or obama, but feel free to continue thinking otherwise if it makes you feel better. because hey, we all need something to make us feel better in this world, especially when you've just gone over the rails of the titanic and the only thing floating by is a sh1tty seat cushion.
the president is just a figure head in many ways, and whoever gets in there will dance to the tune of the unelected financial interests in this country that are calling all the shots. he will have no choice. do you know what happened to the last president who actually thought he was "President"? he took a bullet in the brain in broad daylight.

| Full Scale Financial Meltdown Posted: 10/8/2008 8:26:42 AM | So… I have a question for all you fishies: considering the terms of the bailout, how many of you are going to get a break on your mortgage payment? I know that I won’t.
Even if you do, I’ve read in some articles – and some with dubious journalistic integrity – that we will all face an additional tax burden of at least $2000 next year. Wonderful!
Meanwhile, from yesterday’s Andrew Taylor’s AP story, AIG execs’ retreat after bailout angers lawmakers:
“Days after it got a federal bailout, American International Group Inc. spent $440,000 on a posh California retreat for its executives, complete with spa treatments, banquets and golf outings, according to lawmakers investigating the company's meltdown. AIG sent its executives to the coastal St. Regis resort south of Los Angeles even as the company tapped into an $85 billion loan from the government it needed to stave off bankruptcy. The resort tab included $23,380 worth of spa treatments for AIG employees, according to invoices the resort turned over to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee…”

Your Tax dollars, or should I say your children's children's tax dollars at work.
I heard today that the McCain proposal to buy late mortgages would be incredibly expensive,
It might cost $300 Billion.............
Didn't the Fed just spend $100 billion buying credit yesterday ?
IS this really a joke? Where's the punch line?

The media is so out for blood, they're missing essential facts here. They can be found if you dig for them.
American International Group Inc. (AIG) chairman and CEO Edward M. Liddy sent a letter today to U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson to clarify the circumstances of a business event held by an AIG subsidiary, discussed during an October 7, 2008 hearing by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
The event, mischaracterized as an "Executive Retreat," was held by one of AIG's insurance subsidiaries for independent life insurance agents, not for AIG employees. These agents were top business producers for the company, and of the more than 100 attendees, only 10 were employees of the AIG subsidiary who were there to represent their company. No AIG executives from headquarters attended. The meeting was planned months before the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's loan to AIG.
http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2008/10/08/94452.htm
This is a common way to reward top producers, and keep them producing. Might be good to keep in mind that is a profitable segment of AIG's business, not the one that got them into financial trouble.
Move along, folks.. nothing to see here.
|
| Full Scale Financial Meltdown Posted: 10/8/2008 1:51:58 PM | Still waiting for the final story, but tallskier is probably correct about the event – that it was not for AIG execs.
But, sorry, I disagree with you, tallskier, there’s much to see here. AIG’s Board of Directors should have known better and they should have acted with some sympathy for their financial meltdown – and this was exactly what their former CEO, Robert Willumstad, said in his recent House deposition. CNN reported that the “retreat didn’t include anyone from the financial products division that nearly drove AIG under, but lawmakers still were enraged over thousands of dollars spent on outing for executives of AIG’s main U.S. life insurance subsidiary.” (That subsidiary being AIG American General, which is based in Houston, TX.)
As a former sales exec, I know quite a bit about rewarding top performers and I am well aware of non-sales employees who viewed us with enmity as we were awarded all-expense paid weekends and vacations. I can justify such perks to my own satisfaction when the company is doing well, but doing “business as usual” when your company has just accepted an $85 Billion bailout?!? What were they thinking? “F*** the average citizen ‘cause I made quota and deserve this”?!? Or were they oblivious to what was happening with the bailout?!?
To me, not only is this an example of continued corporate excess, but a perfect example of our lawmakers’ ineptitude! What exactly did our $85 Billion do for insurance and financial giant AIG? As Forbes lists them as the 18th largest company in the world, do they spread that wealth among all of their divisions in the 7 or so countries that they do business?
New CEO Liddy, like Lucy, got some explaining to do!

AIG is in 139 countries....My biggest question is....WHERE WERE THE OTHER 138 COUNTRIESTHEN IT CAME TIME TO BAIL THEM OUT.... I very much dissagree with this bail out...
So...when all the multi-national companies...some of which are not faithful to our country get in trouble are we to keep bailing them out? Just like a spoiled child...if you spoil the child..it will never grow up and be mature...run its life properly...
It would have been a great time for smaller companies to get in the game and expand their WELL RUN companies....Let AIG fall....

Sept. 19 (Bloomberg) -- The market storm that brought down Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., American International Group Inc. and other pillars of U.S. finance may have also blown holes in the portfolios of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator John Kerry and more than 50 other members of Congress.
Pelosi, in her most recent financial disclosure form, reported that her husband owned between $250,000 and $500,000 of stock in AIG, which ceded majority control to the U.S. government this week in exchange for $85 billion of loans.

More Democrate follies...No wonder they insisted on bailing out this company...the Dems started this mess and we have to get them out..(READ MY earlier post on why this loan crisis happened in the first place...democrates pandering for votes...just like siding with the illegals...to get votes etc...).even though the American people screamed out at the top of their lungs....NO BAIL OUT!!!But they did it anyway...Remember...Bush tried to stop this fiasco a couple years ago when they saw Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac out of control...but the Dem controlled congress said NO!!! ITS FINE....they act as if our tax money is their own personal bank account...pathetic where we are today....lying..cheating..stealing...pathetic! No honesty...NO GOD!!! NO RULES!! Its OUR OWN fault ALSO that this all has happened...Have you been doing your part as a citizen? Have you EDUCATED yourselves BEFORE you voted? Did you DO ANYTHING constructive to make your country better? Did you put the hard time and the sacrifice of your own personal lives to raise your children well so they could be productive citezens...or did you get your frivilous divorces cause the new thinking taught you "if your not happy...make yourself happy.." Even at the expense of your family? Your husband.....your children....your parents...your friends...cause thats who is affected by your divorce...Did you raise whining babies that always want something for nothing? Little babies that cant even take care of theirselves..living off the system in one way or another....or did you raise strong sons and daughters BY YOUR EXAMPLE that can carry the torch for this fine country...
Like Mr. Kennedy said:...Ask not what your country can do for you..... But what YOU can do for your country....
Does that sound like the democrates of today??? More gov...more social programs...promote laziness...more more more...cradle to grave..
We did this to ourselves by all this liberal thinking...ITS NOT WORKING SO WHY DO YOU KEEP VOTING THESE PEOPLE BACK IN?????
WAKE UP AMERICA AND SMELL THE COFFEE....YOUR LIFESTYLE IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN THE TUBES IF YOU VOTE FOR THE WRONG MAN....
THE ONLY 'CHANGE' WE NEED is to roll back the hands of time and go back to where things were working well...and then move forward...again...with caution.
