Oh God! Now TWO women are starting to get me!

Time for a change in tactics!

BTW, I do so LOVE shoving little things like that in my posts just to see who is paying attention... usually no one! BUT sometimes I do get a nice email from a rather plesant person who got it and thought it was funny!

At first I did'nt care. Now I still don't care but I pay attention to it now. It is a matter of taste. If its mispelled here and there thas one thing. A whole wall of text thats a giant run-on sentence is another. If you can't wade through it,yeah its bad.

WELL - since it IS 'resurrection week', I thought I'd re-visit this one!! Especially in light of the fact that I recently received an e-mail from a FISH that served to SUPPORT my initial premise!

His profile indicates that he is a 'clan cut' person!!!

SO ...I ASK you???? Is this GUY trying to tell me he is part of a 'CLAN'......or perhaps he actually means he is 'clean cut'???

EITHER WAY?????????????? I'll NEVER know because I don't WANT to know!!! It is one thing to make typing errors, spelling errors, etc., but when it is on your PROFILE and presumably you have had the time to EDIT & review it for mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note to Self: Edit my OWN profile to indicate that I am NOT in favor of members of the CLAN!!!!

..........actually........now I am feeling 'ashamed' when you make reference to my 'spirituality'!!! I realize that I DO sound terribly 'critical'!!! As my initial post on this thread indicates, we ALL (including me) make spelling errors, typos, etc.!!! It just AMAZES me when I find it on someone's profile especially when they list they have their Masters or their Doctorate!!! I guess (being kind) I can ONLY assume their major was NOT English!!!

Sometimes 'oleDog' someone's HEART and SPIRIT shine through BOTH spelling and grammar errors!!! (I had to stop and think because I got tripped up on this previously....grammer or grammar??))))

Sadly, it doesn't happen OFTEN........but it DOES happen!!! "Case in Point".......you ol dog you!!!

Laura, I know some pretty brilliant people that can't spell worth of CHIT!!! But Damn do they know physics and math!!!!!

In answer to Leslies original post, I don't mind a few spelling errors, but when I see the English language butchered to the point where I need to read it more than once in a persons profile I do get turned off. To me they just didn't take the time to reread and edit their profile. Tells me how little effort they put in it. When someone e-mails me I am a little less critical, since you can you usually only edit once. On the forums I am even less critical since most of us are typing quickly. Sometime I try to type real quick and then I post, and then someone else already made a post and then I missed out on making a comment, then I have to edit my post. Hate leaving my 2 cents out.

Oledog I can read your posts just fine. Believe me I have seen worse.

I love math and s*ck at spelling and grammar, however on my profile I have edited more than once. I'm sure there are still miss-spellings and grammar issues.

Laura I agree when I see someone is always using miss spelled words as you have listed it makes me wonder. However I know I'm qulity at times....o.k. a lot of times. I know a lot of the rules however I am Dyslexia and use incorrect words, jumble my letters a lot (like I always type waht instead of what), leave out words or letters, write words in the wrong order. . So I ALWAYS re-read my posts and dang darn it, every time I hit that post I say Oh crap, I missed that one.
Thank goodness for that little edit button. Even after I have edited my eyes may not see it for a while. Sometimes if I re-read something days later and I see more errors. Drives me crazy!!!

Ironically Leslie I wrote the following on one of your threads you started when I first began to post.

It's great computers have a spell checker, but sometimes the don't work ether. Sea I used the spell checker, and darn, those eras are still their, I say to me self, "crab, I'd used the spell checker two," why all the eras, go fig your. They're must be anther way to do this. Know this may a moose some people, but for me it is fuzz traded, sea I just ran this threw the spell checker and it doesn't make cents, it said every ding was spelled write.

Well SHN you were thoughtful, and kind with your words. but Suni is correct
my grammer and spelling are not up to par! but when you do not use these
skillsets.. then we tend to regress. with my new choosen profession these
skill are not of any use. now i'm trying to recover my former skills and
believe it or not the reason for my effort.. i attibute to these threads
thou mostly due to the fact of corrections from my fellow fish! but i
do not take these as mean spirited but as teaching tool! Plus I Hate That Damm
Stick Seeyaa!!

Laura, I did understand your point...I agree When someone does it over and over it isn't a typo error. Thought I said that here.

Laura I agree when I see someone is always using miss spelled words as you have listed it makes me wonder.

Geeeeese Loooouisssssseeee….LOL Guess I should have used all caps on ALWAYS

Thank goodness me luvs ya!!!!

I added my “however” to that to add my own experience. I’m saying that for me it drives me crazy how often I miss type. Not because I don’t know the difference but because my eyes don’t always see it.

Forgot those on my list - to-too-two. Also forgot weather and whether - which and witch - stationary and stationery. This list never ends!!

I AGREEE!!!LOL

Sometimes you have to stick her back oledog.... LOL Helps her keep that "southern charm" of hers that I love so much in check.

Hmmmmmm maybe I need to stick you a couple times to keep you line.

Actually I didn't say your spelling wasn't bad...it is however easy to read because phonically you spell o.k. something I can't do as a N.Y.er.

Last time I axed someone a question they totally didn't get it.

That's why I said I can read it fine and yes I have seen worse.

People who use a lot of short text drives me nuts!!!

Spacey Tess, you are forgiven. (No need for sawwy)"Vegas fever" is a damn good excuse!!!!

I agree the more you use spell check or read the better you spell. I must admit I skip commas sometimes cuz I'm lazy. However you are right, it does make a difference.

Are you going to your high school reunion? Maybe you can find out where he is at today.

Have a GREAT time in Vegas. Time for me to sign off the nightshift and get some sleep!!!

5:30 comes way too early (or would that be to or two )

Rememeber, all those big, strappin' Scots and Irish are "clansmen" as well. Don't be too hasty.

As for spelling, I think speed of typing (and though?), coupled with concentrating on what you want to say, may account for some. However, the vast amount is education or habit. Does it bother me? Not really.

Sunni i know, that stick is reserved for when i'm being a total,A**
Michael your right a lot of it is habit.. to long writing short hand reports,
no more than two lines each..and did not think you ladys were being mean..
as i was trying to convey my thoughts,,but more so as "tutors" helping me repair
the damage to my skills..that laxaty and restricted time has done..but that only
an excuse for wich there should be none.. by the way i don't use spell check
our any other type of corrections.. believe this would only become a crutch..
