He seemed to become more bitter as he got older -and for good reason I think. His earlier routines poked fun at annoyances. Later on he stated very strong opinions about things that made absolute sense. People Suck... Garbage In, Garbage Out... F*ck Hope His genius and enlightenment will be sorely missed -though perhaps not by the younger crowd who grew up with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan.

Personal favorites: when Carlin took the Ten Commandments and reduced them to two.
And Hedberg's "Do You Believe In Gosh" had to have been at least partially influenced by Carlin, with maybe a little Stephen Wright too.

His exact words were funny when they talked about the looting in New Orleans (because according to some wacky Republicans that is the real disaster) and George said "no my friend the real looting occurs from the poor to the wealthy". So true as we see the rich get richer and the poor still poor and middle class turning into poor with jobs lost.
George's stance on Religion was funny as well "there's a guy who has 10 things he doesn't want yo to do and if you break these rules he'lll send you to hell for all of eternity....but he loves you."

Not many comedians can pull off a show featuring intense political dissection, everyday observational stuff, wordplay, angry ranting, and fart jokes and not make it look forced, but he did it.
As many people said, I'd like to see what Carlin thinks about society today. Bill Hicks, too.
"Isn't it a bit strange that Ronald Reagan had an operation on his ***hole, and George Bush had an operation on his middle finger? What are these two men trying to tell us?!?"

Whenever a musician or comedian, etc leaves a lasting impact to younger generations it is a testament to their talent. He was like a poet with his smart and witty wordplay.
