| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:00:42 PM | oh boy! dear winebox50... the fact that you told him not to text you because you have to PAY EXTRA for it just dont sound too good. wouldnt it had been better for you to just text him back saying "i got plans tomorrow. call me when you get a chance to set a day" or something along those lines??? see... in this case, i dont blame the guy for not getting back to you, and for blocking you. i would have done the same if a guy would text me saying YOU DONT DESERVE A 10 CENT TEXT MESSAGE! i recommend you add texting to your cell phone plan!!! either that, or stop giving your cell number and start giving out your home number! ~SIGH~ some women really mess it up for others. javascript:smilie(' ') | |

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:00:46 PM | Let me see if I understand the correspondence and the estimated timeline correctly:
8:00 am(ish): He sent you a page and two text messages while you were in the shower. (Do you mean an old school beeper page? I didn't even know you could still do that and I don't understand why someone would page instead of leave a voicemail).
2:00 pm(ish): He sent you a text message asking to reschedule.
6:00 pm(ish): You read his text message and left him a voicemail saying Tuesday was no good.
Sometime after 6:00 pm(ish): You left another voicemail message telling him not to text you because you don't want to pay the 20 cents.
Sometime after ^^^: You sent him an email about it being the shortest relationship ever.
Sometime after^^^: You sent him an email asking if he ever planned to meet you and that's when you discovered you've been blocked.
********************** Is that fairly accurate? If so, here's how I'm seeing the events: he tried to contact you three times by text and once by page on Monday and your first response to him was Monday evening. At that time you said Tuesday was bad- did you suggest another night? Then you left another message saying don't text me. At this point he had to be thinking you're kind of a flake or perhaps not interested. Then you sent the "shortest relationship" note, which he probably didn't interpret as being humorous. In fact, he probably thought your two voicemails and one email sent during a period when he was working were kind of psycho so that's why he blocked you.
|
| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:01:31 PM | Geez, after the message where I said I already had plans on Tuesday I called back and just said, P.S. I would prefer you not to text anymore because it costs extra. Does that make me a total biatch? I don't care for texting, for me it takes too long and not my preferred mode of communication so I choose not to pay extra for something I don't care to do. I'm not 18 years old, and I don't like to text. I didn't realize it would be such a total deal breaker
When you were exchanging IM's and communicationg with each other all day on Sunday.......did you tell him NOT to text you when YOU gave him YOUR number, s/n etc.?

Chill woman.
If I made a mistake my bad.

Pretty much sums it up for me.

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:15:36 PM | Dear OP Under the same circumstances.... I'd block you too. Why? Because I think you came across as being very rude and C H E A P. Big deal he texted you and you gotta pay 25 cents!! You are also very quick to label him as a "douchebag" just because he chose not to continue communicating with you (for what I'd say is a valid reason)
So what is the point of all this?? Live and learn.

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:22:05 PM | | OHWHATTHEFUCCKKEVER! he dropped the ball big time He's the flake not you. Thank God the date didn't happen in this case I say it was divine intervention. Don't look back you'll find a better one however don't engage in text messaging and then tell a person not to anymore just don't txt at all. | |

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:25:11 PM | 2 text messages at 20 cents a piece. That's like 40 cents! That S.O.B. should be castrated like the mangy dog he is! | |

he dropped the ball big time He's the flake not you He communicated with op at 2:00 pmish that he couldn't make it because he had to work late. She doesn't acknowledge this communication until 6:00 pmish. Op then continues to leave voicmails/emails etc.. (three or so [perhaps two or so too many]) Somehow, I don't see where he dropped the ball here at all... nor do I see where he's a flake.. (he let her know he had to cancel and he asked to reschedule) If op had of left one voicmail and said.. sorry we couldn't get together tonight, call me on my cell tomorrow to reschedule and left it at that.. and then the guy blocked her for no reason.. I'd then agree with you and say he was the flake and that he dropped the ball. Believe it or not, guys aren't always the ones that are in the wrong. o_O

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:36:18 PM | I met a lady once, and for the 1st week she called me 5 times a day! Gee, I didn't think that was weird at all... I admit I made an excuse to call it off ..... I feel so ashamed, wait, I thought guys didn't have feelings. Patrick | |

how many messages does it take to get the message...............
Is this a trick question like, "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll, Tootsie pop?"?
Lets see; 1,2, crunch,3. My answer is 3.
|
| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 8:39:35 PM | ok let me break this down a wee bit...and no, I'm not attacking the OP but this is where this situation went wrong, it happens a lot...and women are really nefarious for this, especially if we lack trust...which clearly the OP did/does.
I'm IMing with this guy all day Sunday You established that you preferred text communicaiton with this man, by developing the relationship IM-ing. That was the basis for communication between you.
I got a page and two text messages on Monday morning when I was in the shower Ok? And? Did you read those? Did you reply? What were they regarding?
I had a really grueling day at work So you had a really bad, long, hard, tiring daya t work....did you run late, were you short time getting ready for the date? Were you frazzled and a little on edge? Not really ready to be dating someone for the first time? Wishing you'd made the date for another evening since your day sucked?
that he had to work late and how about Tuesday?
Guess he had a "really grueling day at work" too, and his day wasn't over at 5...he had to stay late.
when I am all ready to meet this guy, I get this text (which I guess he sent earlier in the afternoon, but I didn't know this)
So you were hassled and hurried getting ready for a date that had been cancelled earlier in the day, but your day was too busy for you to see it or read it, and you went ahead and rushed around getting ready then.....no date.
I already made plans for Tuesday so sent a voicemail to him (since he didn't answer since he was "working late". Whatever.)
What ever? So, you left him a voicemail that was kind, understanding, welcoming and friendly or angry, terse, suspicious?
Also a voicemail telling him to not text me anymore because I have to pay extra for that.
And followed voicemail number one with voicemail number two...indicating he shouldn't text you any more because you can't afford them.
Ok....
So I don't hear from this guy and I wrote a note (jokingly) about it being the shortest relationship ever
Joke was expressed where? In the tone of your words? How was he to know it was joking?
I still didn't hear back, so I wrote one more note, asking if he had ever planned on meeting me to begin with and guess what?
Two nasty voicemails Two nasty emails all because he had a bad day and had to work late and all because you had a bad day and took it out on him?
I have no idea why he'd block you. Seems childish doesn't it?

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 9:03:49 PM | | Like someone said earlier, your wires got crossed. Maybe he didn't think you were joking about the shortest relationship. Jokes don't always come over well via text or emails, I think. Bummer. Better luck next time. | |

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 9:28:45 PM | bad communication... i see it as he tried to get a hold of you thru messaging... many people do use texting and its very few that dont. If you really hate texting i will advice you to block the feature from your service... the person that texts will get a message that says you have that blocked and that you didnt receive the message... it sure beats saying "dont text me cause it costs me money" | |

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 9:40:00 PM | hey jimtash . was your mother a donkey? just asking because you seem like a real ass. the lady had every right to say not to text her. its her business and right.if you have nothing nice to say to people then just shut up and say nothing. op don't listen . if the guy was so juvinile as to block you, then just move on. he is just playing games. maybe his wife didn't like that you left him a voice mail. | |

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 9:59:18 PM | | I would have been turned off by a girl who can't afford text messages. 10 dollars unlimited. Maybe he could not afford you calls and blocked you. | |

You are way out of line dude. This has been reported to a Moderator.

| What was the point of this? Posted: 9/23/2008 10:59:32 PM | It depends on how you phrased your request to him not to text you anymore. I pay for my minutes too, so I allow my cel to ring when there's a nearby landline to call back on. So it depends on how you said your request. If it came off as huffy or insulting, he may have taken that the wrong way. | |

But the amount of people who are concluding that she's right (even if iyt is the minority) is still the most shocking
