| What is your favorite comfort food?
Posted: 10/6/2008 2:30:02 PM |   Tons of browned onions, lots of cooked pork liver, and mashed potatoes !!!!.... me and my soul mate (my dog) dog loves his in a big toasted bun !!! but get this ,,, I make a delicious gravy in the pan I used !!,..and pour it over my mashed potatoes !!!!... A bagagett is also nice to swab up the gravy in the plate !!....

I limit my bacon intake, cause it's just to dammed yummy...
Comfort food. Believe it or not.
Rice and Meatballs in a curry gravy, with Sambal Olek (ground chili paste)
Served steaming on a plate, I will eat till my stomach is totally full.
Most Americans were raised on Meat and Potatoes. Having a very widely multicultural family our meals were a mix of about 4 cultures. So, it was Rice and Meatballs for me..

Potato, bacon, corn, cheddar cheese chowder. Artery clogging...yep.
Pasta e Fagioli
Eggplant parm
Fried green tomatoes
A big bowl of Frosted Flakes or Cap't Crunch
Thankfully, I don't eat this way normally.
On a more calorie conscious note, steamed asparagus with poached eggs on toasted whole wheat English muffins, no Hollandaise or butter needed. | |

Posted: 10/7/2008 4:24:28 AM | | Mine would be poached eggs on toast.It brings back good memories for me.While I was little my father was very busy with work and raising us by himself.Every Sunday morning tho was our private time and he would make us poached eggs.To this day I can still taste them and remember those quiet Sunday mornings where we just hung out. | |

Loco moco (Hawaiian breakfast- 2 hamburger patties and 2 fried eggs on a mound of rice, mushroom gravy over everything
Chicken fried steak
My pot roast
Hot turkey sandwiches with GRAAAAAAVVVVYYYYY
and chocolate ice cream, (no gravy, please.)
Which reminds me, it's time for my cholesterol medicine.

Posted: 10/8/2008 8:59:29 AM | We (my youngest and I) made lemon cheese yesterday, I don't know about comfort but, it takes me back to being a kid. mmm it is so good on toast or in tart shells and even a little on a blueberry muffin, we also made
(this recipe can be doubled up easily)
2 eggs
1 c sugar
grated rind and juice of 1 1/2 lemons
put it all in a double boiler and cook until thick, whisking constantly.
When finished cooking stir in 1/8 cup of butter, cool and then refridgerate

I like frosted flakes, or reeces cereal too. | |
