Hmmm...
I had long hair for almost 20 yrs.
Back in the day it made the girls ga-ga...
But then it started making me look old.
Dated.
So last April I shaved it off... 20 yrs of hair halfway down my back.
GONE.

Instantly I loved it.
I felt free... new... I felt like me... not some charade or hanger on.

... and I have never been hit on so much in my life.
It's almost insane.... I don't get it. I can't go out without being checked out or hit on.
I've been on Plenty Of Fish for barely 3 weeks... I'm not looking for intimate encounters and half the responses I have had were all for "casual hook ups" with compliments about my shorn scalp.
*Scratches head*
I don't think I'm that great looking so it's all rather odd to me...
I don't get it.

When I shaved my head I was with my ex at the time. It drove her wild... and she dreaded the thought of me shaving off my hair. She clung to me like never before... everytime we went out... she was paranoid that other women would steel me away.

I'd like to say all of this was good for the ego... but sometimes it just gets embarassing.

that being said... i think I'll be bald for a looooooong time.

Bald was made for some men. If you have the right face, physique and carry it through with the right clothes it can give a real 'bad boy' impression... mmmmmm confidence, excitement, sex appeal, mystery, strength...bad bad bad ;-) why not throw in a bike too...ohhhh yeah!

if it looks good, then do it. some men are sexy shaved, some are sexy with hair. only one way to find out, and it will grow back (generally). i don't go looking for them, but i have to say - some of the sexiest men have been shaved..... vin diesel or arnold 'what's his face' from the 'mummy'? whoo babby!

Shaved or clipped close, lots better than having thin long strans blowing in the breeze. God made a few good heads and the others he put hair on.
Yes no women running there fingers through your hair but baby butt smooth.

Am I the only one in here who at the age of 20 went "hmmm blonde hair, red goatte, doesnt match" and then being lazy thought it was easier to shave the blonde than the red?

Is that what people mean by "blonde moments"

I went cueball a few times and decided to keep it for a little while, while trying to grow out the old goatee. It seems to grow to a certain length and spontaneously stops, though.

My questions, though...what products do you guys recommend for scalp maintenance? When I shaved my head a few weeks ago, I had the worst case of flakeage. It was frickin' nasty.

I had started losing my hair, so I began to clip it with the guard removed. I must admit that I did this for a while because I was "scared" to go all the way. After the first time of completely shaving, and the responses that I got , made me wonder why it took me so long???

I have one woman in particular that says she isn't attracted to the bald look.....but loves it on me!!

As a man who has done this, one of the strange things I've realized is that the decision to do it and accept it is the greatest change, not the physical bald head itself.

Doing it changes a man inside, in my experiences with most other men I've talked to who have also done it. It's a mental thing, but expressed physically. It kind of becomes a " you'll take me as I am " type of moment. It's a complete rejection of the comb-over/wig/hair transplant/ "gotta have hair" mentality.

The only difficult time is winter in Canada, where the insulating ability of hair becomes rather obvious. That's when you'll find me wearing my beanie...or toque.

'Nuff Said!

Ever since I started to shave my head (When I lived in Oxford) I've had no end of female admirers.
As someone said in an earlier posting, I'm a mechanic and it's so much nicer and cleaner.
You don't walk around with the oily smell you get when you have hair. (Hair seems to trap it!) Although I did meet one lady who insisted on me seeing her straight after work, as she lurved the smell of petrol/diesel on my skin...

[/what products do you guys recommend for scalp maintenance? ]

If I shave on a regular basis, i don't have any problem with flaking......but if i wait a week or 2 , I will have some problems with the dry skin.

I agree....the bad boy image is certainly created with a shaved bald head. But having spent the last 12 years with a biker bad boy with very long hair I would have to debate the issue some more.

I "wore" my hair like that for two years to support a friend who had contracted cancer, she got quite a kick out of it. Sorry to say she didn't make it, but I kept it like that for a little while in her memory. Some ladies liked it, some didn't. I guess everyone has their preferences, goes the same for facial hair. I liked the bald look and feel, it felt cool in the stubble stage when a nice warm breeze blew over it, very stimulating and new sensation.

MI Niteowl, use shaving oils, and after shave cream as opposed to normal aftershave.

Well, I firmly believe us baldies are an elite. Gorbatchov, Churchill, Patrick Stewart, Ming the Merciless and many more cound amoung our numbers.

And almost all bald men acknowledge each other in public places, so it's also like a brotherhood.

But seriously,... yes it's very clean, low maintenance and convenient.
Some girls love it and some hate it, but you are going to have that no matter what you look like. (those fickle temptresses )

LOL. I have to admit, when I first started thinning at age 20, I didn't want to get rid of my hair, unless it was REALLY bad. Well, it got there, so I started buzzing. Occasionally I still miss having a full head of hair; but it's not the hair. I miss the fantasy of being 18 again.

Shaving my head has made me MORE confident, because I don't have a "shield" to hide behind. A best defense is sometimes a good offense, so to speak. Also, I save a ton of money since I don't need to buy shampoo, get haircuts (I buzz my own head), etc. Cuts down on morning prep time because I don't have to dry my hair, brush or comb it, etc. Win -win situation IMHO.

The shaved bald guys are way too common where I live, so I don't feel as if having a shaved head is anything special. I was on a bus today, and there were three guys on the bus with shaved heads, including myself.
