| Tattoos Posted: 11/8/2008 2:52:04 PM | I have a friend who has a tattoo of a twenty-dollar bill on his pe nis. He said he likes feeling hard cash and he loves to see his money grow. Sorry hun but thats an old joke and pretty lame.
To most of us who have Tattoos it has a deep meaning some it means family, symbols of our faith, children, friends even some pets . Tattoos is our way of saving a part of a memory of whoor what the Tattoo is for: like the people who don't have Tattoos Look at it this way Its like a picture you have in your wallet, We have it on our bodies and i've never regreted my Tattoos even if the meanings changed. They are still a part of me . Hope everyone has a great weekend

Are tattoos acceptable?
If you like tattoos and he does not, the two of you may not be in the same ball park. That could then root out the guys you might not care to attract. The tattoo will be yours, why worry about it. I have one and plan to get another because I want to. I am doing it for me and not to impress someone else nor would I not get one because someone might not like. Life is too short to worry about minor issues, just go with what you want and don't worry about it...it is your body. The tattoo you want also represents significant parts of your life...it's not like your having your boyfriend's name tattooed on your bicep. Mine represent significant events from my military career and I wouldn't give them up for anything. One thing you may want to give some thought to though is location. You may want to locate them where they are visible when you are in a bathing suit but you may want them covered when you dress in an evening gown. That will afford you the flexibility to show them when you want but yet hide them when necessary. Anyway they don't bother me but I'm sure everyone has a different opinion on the topic. And in all reality will it change the type of person you are? If you are anything like some Irish people I've met, you are probably a good person so it really wouldn't matter. Cheers!

| Tattoos Posted: 11/16/2008 5:23:24 AM | I just got a second tattoo on my other arm. Here is my perspective (last one before I get off the computer).
1) Did not have a tattoo and did not like them. Thought WTF are you going to like that thing in 50 years? Daughter got one and I was pissed and disappointed in her so much.
2) Met a friend that had seven, and wanted more. She is good looking and still good looking with ink.
3) Got my first one three years ago to commemorate a special event, and because it looked good.
4) Got older and just started to accept people and ideas more. Just got a new one and love it. Again to commemorate a special event.
Art is tasteful and fun. Just do not want to try and PUSH IT into someones face too much. Do all your tattoos show? Or are they secret?

Sorry dude, but at 50 you will look like a condor too; to the 18 something boy or girl. Get used to it now.

| Tattoos Posted: 11/16/2008 7:21:08 AM | I have several all well done, well placed and visible only if I wish to show them. They are all special to me and are all custom single needle pieces.I considered placement for longevity and wearability reasons. I have nothing to prove and no desire to demand anyone either view them,or accept them. If someone accepts me,they do so for who I am,not for the colors of my skin. If someone can't get past my ink,and that's their basis of judging who I am,they're no one I need to know. It's ok to disagree on the issue, but it's extremely offensive when some feel the entitlement to demand you listen their negative opinions when they verbalize in the extreme derogatory. When met with this type of assessment,I reserve the right to be just as derogatory in my reply. | |

| Tattoos Posted: 11/16/2008 8:47:04 PM | horus007 - Well said! I also thought there was no way I would ever get a tattoo! Even after my daughter went out and did it....but as you said, we get older...and I'm thankful for becoming more open with age, rather than closed minded! I had my tattoo done yesterday and I'm loving it! It's small, it's discreet, and it's very meaningful! I'll upload a pic in my flickr account and post a link here...but not tonight ....

| Tattoos Posted: 11/16/2008 9:07:02 PM | I don't like tattoos much... but it certainly wouldn't be a 'dealbreaker' in a relationship. Maybe if it was a Nazi or offensive tattoo, not because it's a tattoo only.
I don't mind much, but yes I prefer without...
again though no big deal..

| Tattoos Posted: 11/18/2008 4:38:52 PM | You can see my new tat here:

It's about 1.5 inches wide at the top, and maybe 2 inches long, and it's strategically placed to be discreet.

| Tattoos Posted: 11/20/2008 12:57:43 PM | It seems small!
But it's cute! Three little Shamrocks!
I hope nobody complains about that one! (people who hate tattoos!)

I'm happy with my shamrocks, and already thinking of another one!

| Tattoos Posted: 12/3/2008 7:59:55 PM | I've seen "old tats"...not pretty. Rather grotesque. I've seen where they had to be removed because the ink was giving the guy blood poisoning. (He saved then in a jar of formaldyhyde!) I've also seen a discreetly placed tat on an older woman that is great! The Inuit believe there is a special place in hell for those who have bad tattoos...and nobody is sure just what constitutes a "bad" one...hmmm... I wouldn't have one simply because I don't think anything I "think" is cool now will be so 40 years from now. Opinions and fashion changes from year to year. It may become socially unacceptable (much like in the corporate world) to have a tattoo that shows! | |

... I don't think anything I "think" is cool now will be so 40 years from now...
If you are getting a tattoo because it is cool, then that is wrong reason.
I see it three ways.
Some are art, like a Monet it is as much about the artists ability as what it is.
Others are for meaning, it is more about what they represent than how good they are.
Them some are lucky enough to have both. (I would say 15years ago this was the majority of people with tattoos, today I would say it is less)
It may become socially unacceptable (much like in the corporate world) to have a tattoo that shows!
That would require us to regress (scary thought)
and I am not sure what the boardroom will look like in the future, but I think pants and long sleeve shirts will still be worn, so other than your hands or head you are pretty much safe.

| Tattoos Posted: 12/11/2008 9:24:42 PM | I agree with Demonsleeves statement 100 % I too have tattoos that mean something to me only I know the true meaning which is why most of us get them for our own reasons . everyone can have an opinion just don't say nasty things about people who have tattoos , The names we get called sometimes lol | |
|
| Tattoos Posted: 1/7/2009 9:00:04 PM | women get their ears pierced because it looks good..why not get a tattoo just because it looks good.. why does it always have to have a meaning? Just wondering.. not that I have any.. too chicken to tolerate the pain. | |
|
| Tattoos Posted: 1/9/2009 6:08:07 AM | ^^^^Maybe because you can change earrings and remove them without any difficulty.
BTW, the pain wasn't that bad....certainly not bad enough to stop me from considering another one!

|
| Tattoos Posted: 9/9/2009 10:41:22 AM | If getting a tattoo is acceptable to you that's all that really matters, isn't it?
Why would you care if others found it unacceptable?
|
| Tattoos Posted: 9/10/2009 3:33:59 AM | | Tatts are ok , I have two. But some don't age well and I find that the color green just looks wrong on human skin, something about it just does not work and plus the more complex the colors, the worse it ages. | |
|
| Tattoos Posted: 9/13/2009 9:10:02 AM | | greens not bad its yellow that doesn't take well or last its fades out quickly as does white..... | |
|
| Tattoos Posted: 9/13/2009 10:07:02 AM | I'm not a big fan of colorful tattoos anyway.
For me it's black, and nothing but black...
