I'm mixed on the bailout, for the sake of the economy the banks need to start lending again, with more inteligence, but Wall Street can take a dive and, seriously, take the Senate and House with them.

I can't remember exact what they're calling this bailout, but the acronym is TARP. It does not inspire confidence as I picture an old beaten down piece of equipment sitting in a garage or field covered with a tarp.

michkat i just got laid off last friday. I am already feeling the crunch, but i went and bought myself a different vehicle. It's not $100,000, but it only has 26,000 miles on it and it is new to me. I always wanted this vehicle. So i took part of my settlement from my divorce by selling our house. So i should thank my ex for giving me the divorce so i could get the vehicle that i wanted and couldn't have while we were married. Lol. Everyone in my family has money exciept me. It use to bother me. I can live fine with less. I have my family, friends, health and good attitude. It will get better for all of us. I just hope we are around to see it. I seen gas for $3.39 and filled up. Isn't that awfull to be happy to pay $3.39 for gas. Lol.

Just one day at a time. Enjoy it cause it could be the last. I have alot of friends that were younger then me and have passed away.
As far as gas wars. Is that like a bean eating contest. That is way before my time . Your cane is over there hanging on my walker. I am glad you have a good sence of humor.

my feeling to all of us struggling in this economy is hang on as best as you can..things will get better..and the markets will slowly recover or at best do better..housing will flurish when we have all the houses available through programs like hud and there will be incentives that will give us back a boost...thats my take on things..

Sorry about the lay off Doc..but look at it as a good thing..most get called back..or at best...find retraining and other avenues..not all things are bleak..change can be good and well deserved..and we might not like timing...but..necessary none the less...look at it as a paid vacation time...your certainly not alone...

Grrrr, I went to the grocery store tonight!!! The government is going to save everyone with their 750 billion dollars and we're actually the ones paying off the debt.
Groceries took a huge leap here in just a week...wtf...and cigerettes went up 43 cents a pack today, as well as beer Wednesday. Yet...my paycheck is not growing...ahhh yes, I just love the great government we have.
I can't afford to drive, smoke or drink anymore and now I won't be able to afford to eat.

I actually saw gas for $3.24 a gallon tonight. Which is still bad, but 75 cents or so below a couple of months ago.

I never thought i would see the day that i would be happy to see $ 3.24 a gallon. Living in BFE, we still have it for $3.59. I got gas in Lake Orion the other day for $3.39 a gallon and thought i won the lottery. I bought a new vehicle and made sure part of the deal was a full tank of gas. That is like getting a option with a vehicle now. It use to be a standard when you buy a vehicle it came with a full tank of gas. God Bless America........

Refer to the Pet Peeve thread for my views on the economy.......ya can't sell a house, ya can't BUY a house, ya can't buy a car, ya can't eat.......
And as per Robitty, they are taxing the heck out of things that we NEED to forget about how bad the economy is.....
Bail out, whoopee.

The bad thing about the economy is that my employer is treating me like dirt. They are expecting blood knowing that it is not easy right now to bolt. I was downsized twice in the past 8 years and have been at this job for 4 years now and basically underemployed. Anyone else having this problem?

The only way out from the bottom is up. We are nearing bottom, the financial dropout will give the economy a reality boost, once the election has passed, regardless of who wins. Uncertainty and fear in the US market behavior drives a bad economy and is the greatest single factor influencing ROW (Rest of the World) markets. We in the US need a big booster shot of an intangible asset called "hope", which will once again drive ours, and the world market to be as robust as it has been before. The only way out from the bottom is "up" Let's "hope" it's sooner than late... The impoverish, lower and middle class shoulder most of the pain before it ever gets to the 5% of rich America.

Mystic, where are you? I know you're reading this... :)
