I don't know about you but it sure seems that McCain is doing a lot more lying than Obama.
In fact the fact check site almost appears to have to nitpick to get stuff on Obama. Like sayings that he say 5 million and it's really 5.75 millon.... Yea right ok. that's important.
I just don't understand how McCain can be almost tied. I really don't. I mean honestly can you say that if Obama wasn't black but white that McCain would be so close.

| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/9/2008 9:58:04 PM | Some things you might consider when voting: Remember who got us into Iraq and how many weapons of mass destruction were found, nevermind how many weapons of mass destruction that this country has. With this in mind, look at the voting record of McCain, he voted the same as GW 95% of the time. For all complaining about the deficit, US and Michigan, consider in both instances before Bush and Engler, there was a budget surplus for the US and Michigan. Look what happened with them in charge. | |

Remember who got us into Iraq
Remember who vote 'yea' on invading Iraq.....Congress. Neither the President or Governor has broad powers to screw up the Country or State alone, they have help.
|
| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 2:33:31 AM | Yes...congress. So your quiz for the day....how many democrats and how many republicans make up our wonderful congress? A new president isn't going to fix that problem. We need a new party, that's why I'm an independent. | |

Yes...congress. So your quiz for the day....how many democrats and how many republicans make up our wonderful congress?
Congress:
49 Democrats, 49 Republicans, 1 Independent Democrat and 1 Independent.
House:
233 Democrats and 202 Republicans.
So much emphasis is put on the Presidential elections, but there is never much coverage for Congress and House of Representatives. They are the ones who could override a Presidential veto and get a bill passed. They are the one’s who ultimately hold the countries checkbook.
|
| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 3:47:22 AM | Oh I agree that congress had their hands in it too. Just remember that: 1. Congress was lied to by the president about the weapons of mass destruction 2. Also I believe Bush made a reference to 9/11 which was later proven they had nothing to do with 3. At the time of the invasion, House and Senate were both republican controlled 4. It takes a 2/3 majority to overturn a veto if my memory of senior year Government serves me right. Go vote! | |
|
| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 4:16:27 AM | Oh I agree that congress had their hands in it too. Who hasn't had there hand in my pocket lately, just got my home and land taxes...Ouch.. That's after going to the GROCERY store!
By the way President, don't need Congress approval to send troops, he's Commander in Chief. Remember Vietnam, they sent them...took American People getting together to force them to get us out. By the way was there. Still believe we were right, J.M.O. We have the right and FREEDOM to agree or disagree and say it without being taken off to jail or kill. Just look at China's people stand on Democracy, if anything.

| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 6:14:17 AM | I get so tired of people saying that Obama isn't Christian, didn't address the American Flag, believes in abortion.
Just because he has a muslim name doesn't mean he is muslim. How does anyone know this is true? He was raised by his grandparents, attended schools in the US, went to church, went to Harvard, worked for his community. HE WAS NOT RAISED BY HIS FATHER. You need to turn your ears to what he is proposing and vote the way you think this country will benefit.
McCain came home from the war, started screwing around with Cindy, decided that he needed a younger wife. Divorced his wife and left his children that waited for him. He has sucked the Bush administrations A$$ for all these years. You need to turn your ears to what he is proposing and vote the way you think this country will benefit.
There is DIRT on both sides that everyone feels is more important than what is really happening. Everyone picks up on all the unimportant factors of what is said about the candidates and doesn't listen to what they are saying. Gossip is evil. People need to listen to what is being said and not all the smut that is going around.
Regarding abortion...abortions are going to take place whether they are legal or not. Would you want your daughter to have a baby conceived by rape? Would you want her to have a backroom abortion and not know if she is going to live or die from it? Abortions have been done for many many years and making them illegal is not going to stop them. I agree that an abortion should not be used as an easy way out for a woman. I agree that it is taking a life but there are times when you have to weigh the consequences of a pregnancy.
So...now I have totally pi$$ed you off ......I know who I am voting for and am proud of it.

| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 6:34:07 AM | | who sent the first troops to vietnam?...a democrat...war mongers...be proud linda, but don't be naive...wouldn't matter if obama was white, green or purple, he has no experience, patriotism, nor beliefs in jesus...lol, of course the last president that i voted for that won was nixon...seems to me that obama is actually getting the peoples sympathy because he is black...so in a country where it is still deemed distasteful for a white woman to even date a black man do you think a black president will somehow change that?...democrats are weak in body and soul...they screw our country like they screw their mistresses | |

Remember who vote 'yea' on invading Iraq
It acually was a "joint resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq." Bush requested it to show Iraq, and the world, we were serious about Iraq disarming their WMDs (yeah the ones that did not exist) or else we would rid Iraq of them. To use Bushes own words:
" By passing H.J. Res. 114, the Congress has demonstrated that the United States speaks with one voice on the threat to international peace and security posed by Iraq. It has also clearly communicated to the international community, to the United Nations Security Council, and, above all, to Iraq's tyrannical regime a powerful and important message: the days of Iraq flouting the will of the world, brutalizing its own people, and terrorizing its neighbors must--and will--end. Iraq will either comply with all U.N. resolutions, rid itself of weapons of mass destruction, and in its support for terrorists, or it will be compelled to do so."
The vote was not a vote of 'war' but to give Bush more leverage in getting Iraq to submit to the U.N resolutions. It's a fine point, but very important one.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." by Joseph Goebbels
A favorite tactic of the bush administration championed by karl rove. I wish we were all better then that.

I get so tired of people saying that Obama isn't Christian, didn't address the American Flag, believes in abortion. The truth hurts sometimes I suppose. I am glad you are comfortable with supporting such a person. Personally, I couldn't live with myself thinking that I respect a person with such moral character. Remember, we aren't talking about just abortion here, we are talking about "late term abortion". Biggggg difference.
I don't see why some people have understood McCain to be "giving up" on Michigan. He is only not going to waste valuable time campaigning here is all. Think about it. Would you? The comments above like "if Obama was white..." plays very true here. If Obama was white, do you think he would be getting such a high percentage of the black vote? So the "race" blame game can be used both ways. I bet if you looked at the percentages of white voting for Obama, is much much greater than blacks voting for McCain. Shocking now isn't it. So why in the world would anyone "white" want to campaign in Michigan, when it's a hopeless effort.

| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 11:05:04 AM | Barrack Obama...
He's written just two, so far, with another full of his quotes and two more planned to be released soon.
Dreams from My Father was published in 1995. It's an autobiography of Obama's life from his birth (1961) to the early 1990s.
Obama was given his father's surname, but his parent's marriage dissolved when he was only two years old. After that Obama was raised mostly by his mother, living in Jakarta with her second husband, until he was ten years old. After that he was raised in Kansas by his mother's grandparents.
In Kansas Obama says he first encountered racism. He also met his biological father for the first and only time since toddler-hood. The book goes on to detail his student life at Harvard University, and his efforts to find out about his Kenyan origins. Dreams from My Father was recently re-released, and Obama is acclaimed for the candor and sincerity it evinces.
About 4 years ago Obama signed a contract with the publishers Random House to write three more books. The first, Audacity of Hope is mostly about Obama's philosophy; it's a warm up to sell himself to the American people. The also incorporates a lot in it about the current state of things for most Americans, and potential for future success and happiness.
Supposedly Obama and his wife are co-writing a children's version of his autobiography, with proceeds going to children's charity. The other contracted book (for Random House) will be for adults, with no specific topic covered yet... buy my money is that it will be an account of the race to become democratic nominee for president.
Obama has released yet another book, Barack Obama: In His Own Words , with publishers Barnes & Noble. This book is full of his speeches, quotes and anecdotes, complied by Lisa Rogak.
John McCain, written about him. Couldn't find out if he wrote one. Anybody else, could? One his daughter.. My Dad John McCain and these. Drew and Simon & Schuster have reissued Citizen McCain this year with an excellent new introduction by the author that raises all the pertinent questions about McCain today and is well worth reading.
[2] Wallace covered the Straight-Talk Express for Rolling Stone in 2000. His extended essay, "Up, Simba," appears in his Consider the Lobster and Other Essays (Little, Brown, 2005). "Up, Simba" is being reissued this month as a book, with an introduction by Slate editor Jacob Weisberg, under the title McCain's Promise: Aboard the Straight-Talk Express with John McCain and a Whole Bunch of Actual Reporters, Thinking about Hope (Back Bay). This new edition was not yet available at press time.
[3] Since their book's recent publication, Brock and Waldman have added a new chapter on press coverage of McCain, which is available at mediamattersaction.org/freeride/addendum.
Just in case you read BOOKS.

I forgot that’s the way Iraq went, I was thinking of Afghanistan that was a unanimous vote if I remember correctly. It was an authorization for the war if Bush deemed it necessary. A little to broad of powers in my opinion.
He's written just two, so far, with another full of his quotes and two more planned to be released soon.
And there is three against him already published (that I know of), the latest titled "The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama’s War on American Values" by Brad O’Leary
For the sake of fairness, I hunted for books against John McCain. I did find a few, one being "The Real McCain: Why Conservative Don’t Trust Him and Why Independents Shouldn’t" by Cliff Schecter. I was kinda sidetracked by another McCain Book, one I may actually buy, titled "72 Things Younger than John McCain" by Joe Quint
You will always find something written in favor of or against a politician, be it a book, OPED article, blog or posting on a forum. Educating yourself on who the candidates are and what they stand for is key to voting for who’s right for you.

| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 5:17:38 PM | Just when I think John McCain has slipped to the darkside I see the old John McCain resurface. On CNN today they showed two clips of his town hall meeting.
The first clip showed a woman telling McCain: "I don't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's an Arab." McCain shook his head and said, "No ma'am, no ma'am. He's a decent family man...[a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues. That's what this campaign is all about."
The second was after the questionnaire disparaged Obama and pleaded with John to attack Obama more. McCain's response was "We want to fight and I will fight. But we will be respectful, I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments. I will respect him and I want everyone to be respectful and let's make sure we are."
Why doesn't John McCain do that more often, instead of the nasty character attacks. If he ran on the issues and not kowtow to the conservative religious segment of the republican party, I think he would have a chance at winning.

Excellent memory, I had to google it. It was unanimous in the Senate and only one NAY vote in the House.

| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 6:54:10 PM | If the politicians ran a clean campaign with no mud slinging, we’d all keel over from shock, then there wouldn’t be anyone left to vote for them. I had to google HJ Res. 114 so were even, lol. I am curious why McCain changed his tune.
The War Powers Resolution of 1973 was passed to limit the Presidents power to declare war without the approval of Congress. Which is why Bush had to get a resolution from Congress the way he did to be able to invade Iraq, now, if I remember correctly(again), the President can deploy troops for a certain length of time while he’s waiting for approval, but he would need to withdraw them if Congress opposes the deployment/war.

| Take THAT Michigan!! Love , John McCain Posted: 10/10/2008 10:26:43 PM | Hey kat, if you look here you will get a different take on the not saluting the flag thing. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2007/11/obama-says-flag.html Think that we all should reconsider when we decide to judge people, especially anyone who may use the Bible to support their views. I have had some background in religion and I recall a passage which reads something like "judge not lest yourselves be judged" and didn't Jesus himself chastise people who were judging Mary, I think the above statement may have been that instance. Oh and maybe a bit of a reach but I believe the intial "military advisors" to Viet Nam went over in the 50's during the Eisenhower administration(Republican). | |
