| What Movie blew your mind ''was scariest 'Or most comical & Y ? Posted: 10/6/2008 7:08:22 PM | oh, yea ... the initial battle scenes of Saving Private Ryan ... I don't even know how many minutes that battle action sequence played on the screen but it was more than a little horrifying, intense and un-nerving to watch that hideous portrayal of war being played out on the big screen ... that movie made / makes me feel a certain thankfulness to all of our Veterans who have ever fought in any war ...
It seems that the scariest of scary movies seem to be taken from real world events.

(I apoligize.... but there are 'men' on the boards who say females do not deserve the rights here in America because they didn't fight in a war....but a great many men did not either...oh but the ones that did!)
Legends Of The Fall..the only movie with Brad Pitt that I liked (him) but oh jeez the war scenes.
Real life movies are much more scary than fake monsters (Freddy).

| What Movie blew your mind ''was scariest 'Or most comical & Y ? Posted: 10/6/2008 10:58:57 PM | I watched The Shining as a kid and was terrified of Jack Nicholson for years!
Monster was a great film and Schindler's List really broke my heart. The first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan were absolutley horrendous as was the scene where the guy was being murdered on the stairs while his attacker kept saying "Ssshhh...." Truly creepy.
I love horror films but modern day horror movies never scare me anymore. Most have no real storylines and are too gory because they rely on blood and guts for the scary shock affect. They are missing the true suspense and creepiness of movies like Jaws, Carrie, The Omen, Halloween I, The Shining...all the truly classic horror films.
The movie that scared me the most as a kid was this little known Indie flick called Trilogy of Terror with Karen Black. It was a movie with 3 stories and I don't remember the first 2 but the 3rd story was about a woman who buys a little warrior doll who proceeds to terrorize her in her apartment. Damn doll had these big teeth that kept snapping while it was chasing her around the apartment! It was so damn cheesy but scared the hell out of me! I watched it as an adult and was able to laugh at the cheesiness of it but I still had to grab a pillow for comfort and put my feet up on the sofa...lol. And I was never able to watch Chucky after that.

Films that have an impact on me.....
No country for old men - This was absolutely fantastic, seriously twisted. There will be blood - This is the most recent one that got to me, daniel day lewis was amazing. His performance at the end just has you gob-smacked. Pans Labyrinth - Its like Tarrantino crossed with lord of the rings or something. Beautifully magical and then brutally harsh and graphic.
Just a few ^^ x | |

I also like the movie MIRACLES. In this movie, everytime someone says a curse word especialy one against God, something goes wrong.

John Carpenter's "The Thing"
It's actually better than the 1930s movie IMO, simply because it follows more faithfully the novella that it's based on "Who Goes There?"

As far as mindblowing... Clockwork Orange
2001.... no narrative plot to really hang on to.... but facinating to watch. I had to read the book to make some sense of what I just watched?
The Exorcist. As a kid, this was the one to watch. But I think the scariest scene is when she gets a needle in the neck by the doctors when they examine her....ow!
Night of the Living Dead.... scared the hell out of me as a kid.
Night of the Demon....a spooky little black and white thriller with large demons out for revenge!
Most comical.... for gut busting laughs... a tie between Dumb and Dumber and Blazing Saddles. Most recent good laugh?..... Wedding Crashers.... wish there were more movies like this!

In the uncut movie she takes a cruifix and well...did not scare me but don't wanna watch it.
How about '300' that is a great movie! And fairly historically correct.

OH! I have that on DVD...saw it in a video store and bought it after having seen it as a teen. Yep, the one with the little doll with the pointed teeth was by far the creepiest. That was based on a story written by Richard Matheson ('I Am Legend' fame). Creepy creepy creepy!
I also saw something way back (many many years ago) that was along the same vein as the Trilogy of Terror, but I can't recall if it was an actual movie or one of those made-for-tv things. But it scared the crap out of me. It was about a young man and woman who buy this house and there are these creepy little prune people living in the basement. They start terrorizing the woman whenever the husband is away, and ew...still gives me chills thinking about it. LOL

| What Movie blew your mind ''was scariest 'Or most comical & Y ? Posted: 10/8/2008 4:48:10 PM | I think I saw the Karen Black movie with the theethy doll...I was laughing at it then ... hubby watching Karen...doll wasn't that scarey.
Again. real life....How about 'Nell" with Jodie Foster.
Anybody seen that?
But the Karen doll movie and "what dreams my come" movie were both Richard Matheson? Yeah?
Correct me kindly if wrong.

Is that the romantic movie with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour where he travels back in time and falls in love with her? I loved that movie! So different from the creepy doll movie. How versatile.
My all time favorite movie is Last of the Mohicans and just about anything Daniel Day Lewis is in. That guy can act the phonebook.
The Exorcist scared me as a kid but watching it as an adult is almost comical and its really quite disgusting. But I have to say her walking down the stairs on all fours backwards still scares me.
And I've never seen Clockwork Orange but sounds like I should from all the recommendations on this site.

It was about a guy 14K years old who was the original Jesus.
I like the love story with his girlfiend.
Have ever watched a woman grow old and die.
Then he told her get in the car and they went away.
I like older people and 14K would be hot.
