| Skeletons. How long should you keep them in the closet? Posted: 10/8/2008 2:40:21 PM | "My skeletons are the "bones" behind the person standing in front of you today...good and bad, it is what it is. "
I have never heard it phrased that way but I really like that. Very true also, in most cases anyway.

| Skeletons. How long should you keep them in the closet? Posted: 10/8/2008 2:45:19 PM | I was widowed by a traumatic event that almost claimed my life as well.
While it's not necessarily what I would consider a skeleton, I'm very open about sharing it (usually in response to "how did your husband die"). It happened nearly 17 years ago so it's been years that I'm fully recovered not only physically, but mentally and emotionally.
It is a significant event in my past, so I'd rather be open to sharing it than try to avoid it the question.

Posted: 10/8/2008 3:53:29 PM | You reveal your skeletons when you both feel the need to (some need never come out of the closet) and when you are ready to. There is no timeline. Sometimes you feel comfortable enough with the person that it's easy, sometimes not... Since you are asking the question I suspect you are right at that in-between point teeter-tottering on the "do I or don't I?".
If you are at a point where the relationship is headed to the next stage and you think your skeleton might be a deal-breaker then there is no time like the present.
