Your plans for christmas 2008..?
Posted: 10/9/2008 2:57:27 AM
Bah Humbug.......

I don't have any plans and will most likely be on my own again on xmas day
as it looks like most of my family will be in Spain and I can't afford to travel there.

Christmas is ok if your in a relationship and can buy each other presents or if you
have young children but spare a thought for the many people who live on their own.

I'm sure I'll be able to russle up a cheese sandwich on the day and a packet of crisps!

Boxing day will be in bed with the hangover again..... ha ha

Well said Hams, also spare a thought for those of us whose family and loved ones are no longer with us, christmas is always a sad time for me remembering those people who are no longer with me and remembering when christmas was fun. I hope this christmas will be better because the last two where utter shite full of upsets and sadness.

Usually go away for christmas, saves getting the decos out. This year mum & dads golden annie, so we've clubbed together to send them to Malta (hopefully they'll catch some sunshine) so staying at home. Plan not to eat for a few days prior to allow plenty of stuffing! Oh and yes result - eldest son just got his first car & still in love with driving so have built in chauffeur!

I daresay I shall get the usual invites from family, but I honestly prefer quiet xmases. I shall have breakfast, and prepare myself a nice roast dinner with all the trimmings. My roast potatoes are to die for if I say so myself!! A bottle of my finest from the cellar { really the dining room} will go into the fridge and I'll polish one of two huge wine glasses each takes a half bottle when full lol, ready to accomodate it. Then I guess I'll be like others and bemoan spending another xmas alone lol. I'll put my xmas stocking out and you never know Santa might fill it with a lovely lady's leg..... yeah right!! Anyone who wants to accept that other wine glass is most welcome.

Well it will be difficult to beat last years Christmas as it was really good, however me and the cat will be lounging around and annoying each other I expect......... It's nice to be in love at Christmas but hey ho we can't always have what we want and there are many others far worse off than me.

I was actually planning (yes planning) to spend it alone with my big log burner, Benjamin my wolfish border collie cross and my guitars - I might have been off the wall and done myself a large dollop of Salmon - and I think there might have been some alcohol taken.

But now I shall be happy to have my daughter and her boyf and probably my lodger and if he has scored by then his squeeze (saves me cooking)
and Benjamin my wolfish border collie cross and my guitars - I might still do some Salmon - and I think there might be some alcohol taken.

And in either event probably the morris side's boxing day stand - at a pub and so maybe some alcohol taken...

just me and scooby this year so after breakfast off to the beach we will head whatever the weather, even contemplating taking portable barbeque and spending all day out. Then has to be a large port and the cheeseboard yummy to warm the****es of my heart. My christmas starts on 28th Dec when boys and I get together then its the turkey dinner, charades, loads of laughter and high jinks ideal.

Think i'd like to spend Christmas at Kent Less house . I got the silver, frosted white & lilac baubles to go with my big white tree.

I will probably spend Christmas at my sisters house with my little girl & sisters family. My sons are older & spending it at their dads this year. I will probably help cook Christmas dinner seeing as i'm a Chef.

I'll make plans for Christmas when its nearly Christmas.

The worst thing about the whole thing is that people start talking about it so early! We'll be hearing bloody Xmas songs in the shops soon..

As things are im planning on spending this xmas with my ex wife and kids.
Shock,horror!
But isnt it a little pessimistic to be planning on who your going to be with or where you may be when it is so far away?
At this early stage i would have thought that most people will be thinking a little more on the optomistic side.
I remember posting something similar this time last year to the same question.
And not long later i found myself in a 10 month relationship with a lovely poffer.
Ok,things can go tits up,but wheres the optimism?

Its going to mad and crazy and I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!

I've only recently started posting to the forums and was delighted (sorry) to find that I will not be the only person without a partner at Christmas. I don't have any children so there is no incentive for me to get into the spirit

I will be going to the pub Christmas lunchtime as it's very lively and a wonderful atmosphere. It does seem strange to only see guys though. I mean it's not as though we can't cook a perfectly reasonable roast, is it? I know I can, it can take people ages to eat all the food, yeah, turkey/beef at one, potatoes at two, brussels usually left in a saucepan.

Are any of you day dreaming about what presents you might get from friends or family? This year I'd like the phone number of a friends, friend and also if someone can give the courage to phone her they would be the perfect presents!

Hope you all have a good time in good comapny.

Drink tons of champagne, like I do every Christmas.

And maybe this year, for a change, spend it somewhere else with someone else doing all the work and I sit back and enjoy. I have no one to think of this year just myself - excellent.

Christmas is expensive and flipping hard work for me , all the preparation and all there is to do on Christmas Day...had enough of it, its exhausting...I move to hold Xmas every 5 years or at least every other year...its just a commercial rip off now, I dread it, ist just something to get through...sighs

Thought I'd be on my own this year but have decided to invite one of my best friends & all her children, my sons & partner, grandson to mine for the day & cook for everyone instead. She's done the whole big christmas thing for years & thought I'd give her a break. I'm now cooking dinner for 12 (I think at last count) at mine.
Not looking forward to getting up early & working on Boxing day though!

No plans.
I think this year will be my worst.
I've always spent Christmas with my sister and her family, but she found herself a man and has not invited me this year

So its just me and the dog and television
