| pa dutch recipes Posted: 10/24/2008 2:51:38 PM | My kids always eat the hot lunch at school, but sometimes want to take lunch from home, just for a change, I guess. Yesterday morning one of my 8 yr. old twins told me she made her lunch to take to school. So, I ask what she was taking and she said ~ pie ~ OK, and what else? Nothing Mom, just pie...

| pa dutch recipes Posted: 10/25/2008 2:27:31 PM | having spent my entire life surrounded by all things pa dutch, i can emphatically state that i find this cuisine completely disgusting. every time i'd go to any diner, cafe or restaurant along the rte 30 corridor, i'd see bowls full of thick, gloppy, colorless slime.
i will admit, though, that some of the baked items have promise. i've made some amish apple cakes and a german chocolate cake that i really liked.
but the entrees? forget it!
thank goodness central pa has a prominent italian population! | |
